“Dr. Kyle?”

Mr.Oliver watched the renowned physician's hands shake as he gripped the edge of a chair.

“What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost.”

“That technique...”

Dr. Kyle's voice trembled, his usual professional composure completely shattered.

At that moment he pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his sweaty forehead.

“ I've only seen it once, in my master's most treasured textbook.”

Mr. Oliver looked totally confused.

“I don't understand,”

Mr. Oliver stepped closer.

“What's so special about—”

“Special?”

Dr. Kyle let out a shaky laugh.

“I spent twenty years studying that single page. Twenty years! And that young man just...”

His voice cracked.

“He performed it like he was breathing.”

Upon hearing what Dr Kyle just said Mr. Oliver’s face drained of color as the implications sank in. His fingers clutched his jade paperweight so tight his knuckles went white.

“You mean we just...”

“We've insulted a master.”

“The level of skill required... it's beyond anything I've seen in forty years of practice.”

“Sophia!”

Her father's voice cracked with urgency.

“Quick, go after him! We can't let him leave like this!”

Without wasting anymore time Sophia ran after Damien so does

Dr. Kyle followed close behind, his earlier arrogance replaced by genuine panic.

“ I need to apologize to him as well, and I hope he doesn't hold anything against me...”

Sophia ran as fast as her leg would carry her.

“Mr Damien, please wait!”

Sophia hurried across the garden, her heels sinking slightly into the manicured grass. Her usual composed demeanor had cracked, showing genuine distress.

“About what happened inside...”

Damien paused but didn't turn around.

“The way we treated you...”

She caught her breath, one hand pressed against her racing heart. “We were completely wrong. My father, Dr. Kyle... all of us...”

“It doesn't matter.”

His voice carried no anger, just quiet indifference that somehow felt worse than rage.

At that moment Damien turned wanting to leave when Sophia’s voice came in short.

“But we—”

She couldn't complete her words of guilt because her family's lack of trust on Damien earlier was beginning to get hold of her.

She fumbled with her designer purse, hands trembling slightly as she pulled out an ornate golden card. With the family crest on it

“Please, take this. It grants the highest privileges at all of our family establishments. VIP access, priority service—”

At that moment Damien had no choice but to accept the card so he could leave to go gather the herbs he needed for Serenity's grandfather treatment.

Damein slipped the gold card into his pocket, mentally listing the herbs he'd need to gather.

He needed to move quickly.

“Master Damien!”

Dr. Kyle hurried up, slightly out of breath, his earlier arrogance replaced by desperate politeness. “Please, I must apologize again for my behavior. Actually...”

He wrung his hands, his distinguished face flushed with exertion.

“There's another prominent figure’s grandfather who is also gravely ill, and no one has been able to treat him. Please, we need your assistance.”

“Ten minutes ago,”

Damien cut him off softly.

“You wouldn't even look me in the eye when I walked in. ”

At that moment Damien nodded to the driver that brought him.

Immediately the car opened.

Damien settled into the car's leather seat, his voice carrying no anger, just quiet finality.

“You know what, I dislike people who judge based on appearances and people rarely change their minds for the right reasons.”

The door closed with a soft click.

“Go find someone more suited to your... standards.”

Dr. Kyle stood helplessly in the driveway, his carefully maintained dignity crumbled as he realized how thoroughly his own prejudice had just closed a door he desperately needed open.

Dr. Kyle watched the car disappear around the corner, his shoulders sagging.

“Miss Sophia,”

he turned to Sophia, his professional dignity crumbling.

“ Can I get his contact information... perhaps if I could...”

“I'm sorry,”

Sophia shook her head firmly, one hand protectively covering her phone.

“After how we treated him... I won't betray his trust now just because we've realized his true abilities.”

Immediately Sophia left.

Dr. Kyle paced the garden path, running fingers through his silver hair.

“My own prejudice...”

he muttered, then stopped suddenly.

“No... forcing the issue on him would only make things worse, and he might not do it to his best.”

Immediately he pulled out his phone, then paused, a new strategy forming in his head.

“Better to handle this delicately,”

he murmured.

“I'll tell War Goddess Serenity I've found someone promising... then work on a more subtle approach to securing his help.”

**

Damien was inside the car heading to where he would be getting herb when his stomach rumbled.

“Any preferences for dinner, sir?”

the driver asked, catching Damien’s eyes in the rearview mirror. However before Damien could respond his stomach answered with another soft rumble – he hadn't eaten since he came to Westlake.

“Something close,”

Damien replied.

“The Crystal Palace restaurant is just around the corner Sir.”

the driver smiled knowingly.

“Miss Sophia family flagship restaurant. Their dim sum chef just earned his third Michelin star.”

Damien didn't say anything but nodded to the driver's words.

Soon after, the Phantom Spirit Ultra glided to a smooth stop before the restaurant's marble steps. Damien got out of the car and went into the restaurant.

“Welcome to Crystal Palace restaurant,”

the receptionist smiled professionally, her crimson uniform immaculate.

“For today's dining the restaurant only operates on members only, may I see your membership card?”

“No membership,”

Damien replied quietly.

The lady wanted to say something when Damien reached into his pocket, retrieving the gold card Sophia had given him.

“Would this suffice?”

Upon seeing the Gold card the receptionist's practiced smile froze as she registered the card's distinctive golden sheen. Her hands trembled slightly as she held it. “One... one moment, please.”

She pressed her earpiece with trembling fingers.

“Manager David? Your immediate presence is required at reception.”

Within seconds, a distinguished man in a tailored suit appeared, practically gliding across the marble floor. His eyes widened at the sight of the card.

“Most honored guest,”

Manager David bowed deeply, genuine respect replacing professional courtesy.

“The luxury Suite has already been prepared. Please, allow me to escort you personally.”

He gestured toward the private elevator, reserved for the restaurant's most elite guests.

“Our executive chef has just received a fresh delivery of matsutake mushrooms.. I know you would love them, Sir.”

Manager David was saying when a sudden hush fell over the corridor. Staff and guests alike pressed themselves against the walls as War Goddess Serenity approached.

Everyone stepped aside immediately they saw her coming but Damien did move.

Her aide hurried behind her, juggling shopping bags from luxury desserts.

“War Goddess, your car is—”

Serenity's steps faltered as she spotted Damien.

immediately her perfect red lips curved into a cold smile.

“Well, what a... coincidence.”

Her voice carried the weight of battlefield command.

“Seeking employment in the kitchens, perhaps?”

The way he had navigated the Ryan's family and collected the exclusive card in the process only fueled her belief that he thrived on clever deceptions. And now, with Mr. Leo standing before him, Serenity couldn't help but scoff inwardly.
