CHAPTER TWO

"I told you, he doesn't deserve you. For some damn reason you stayed with his sorry ass for too long. Wait a minute, was he that good in bed or you are just into poor men?"

said Sarah. Lisa had invited over her elder sister, Sarah and her aunt, Josephine, the next day, and told them she had finally broken the divorce news to her husband.

"Hahahaha" Lisa laughed

"You should have seen his face, when he walked in on I and Don Michaelson, having a wonderful time. The fool thought he was going to surprise me on my birthday. But hah! There was a surprise, just wasn't for me though".

"Darling, I'm just finally glad you left his broke sorry ass. Finally, Don Michaelson will officially be my in-law. I'm going to ask him to buy me a Mercedes Benz. I mean, after all, he can afford it, and not a church rat like your husband, or should I say, soon to be ex-husband, Pedro, who can't buy me as much as a bottle of wine".

Her aunt Josephine said, while sipping her wine from her glass.

"But where is he? I was hoping to see him outside crying like a baby, when we arrived. Boy! I would have made him feel more sad. That boy must have used some kind of love portion on you, Lisa. I mean, two years, two solid years you gave him".

Sarah said, while she looked at the pictures of Pedro and Lisa, which were hunged up the wall of the living room.

"The fool left the house. He finally got the memo that he was no longer needed in my life. He is lucky my Sweetness, Don Michaelson wasn't offended by the whole ordeal, because even the devil knows I can be a bitch. I would have smashed his poverty stricken head open with a bottle. Fool trying to block my source of happiness".

Lisa replied Sarah as she took a sip from her glass of wine.

"Hah! You mean, our source of happiness?"

Sarah jokingly said to Lisa. For they had always wanted Don Michaelson to be Lisa's husband and their in-law. Lisa's aunt, Josephine, was a greedy and  self-centered woman, who was in her mid 50s, had been married 3 times and filed for divorce 3 times, just to split the wealth of her ex-husbands.

However, she could never hold on to the monies she got from the divorces, that she orchestrated, because she was one who lived lavishly, always buying the fanciest hand bags, clothes, shoes and spending unnecessarily.

"Darling. There's this house I saw online. A duplex, state of the arts interior, spacious backyard with a befitting swimming pool for a hottie such as myself. I already contacted the agent who put up the property for sale. Sweetheart can you please talk to our in-law, your husband-to-be, Don Michaelson, to buy this little gift for me? I already know he won't say no to me, because he is a millionaire. Oh, what am I even saying? He is a billionaire".

Josephine had a bucket list written down, saved on her phone she wanted Don Michaelson to get her. The house and the Mercedes Benz was just two amongst the long list of things she planned getting from Don Michaelson. For she was too greedy to have a short list.

"Did he leave with anything?"

Sarah asked her younger sister, Lisa.

"No, he didn't. Though he did leave with one thing. He left with his best friend"

Lisa replied.

"Really? A best friend? Who is that?"

Sarah asked

"Poverty!"

Lisa replied, laughing out so loudly. She had taken too much of the wine and was a little drunk.

"Hahahaha. I bet when he was born, he had poverty as a twin brother, born on the same day with him".

They had their laughs, making mockery of Pedro, all through the afternoon. They were so elated that he was gone, so much that he was the topic of their conversation through out the day. At evening of that day, Pedro came over the house. He had come to pick up his credentials and certain documents. He knocked on the door, and Lisa was the one who came to open it.

"Well look who we have here. If it isn't the Prince of poverty himself".

Josephine had already started off with the insults. He barely had come in, but he was already getting tongue whipped by Josephine.

"What are you doing here?! You bag of bad luck. You won't let me my sister go? She said she's no longer interested in your poor ass. Go away! Looser"

Sarah was far drunk, acting almost in an aggressive manner towards him. She got up and approached him, with her glass still in her hand. She was so intoxicated, she couldn't walk properly, staggering towards Pedro, like she was going to physically attack him.

"I'm sure your father was a poor man, else where did you inherit this poverty from? My God, he rigs of it! Auntie, can't you smell it? He is soaked in it. The stench of poverty is on this loser and he is contaminating the house with it".

At that moment, Sarah detested him, even more than Josephine did.

"I am just here to take my credentials. I'm sorry I left initially without taking them. I just want to take it and leave. I didn't mean to intrude on you".

Pedro said to Lisa, not paying concern to Sarah and Josephine.

"Why are you telling me? You know where you kept those accursed things you call credentials. How can one even say he is having credentials, yet nothing in his pockets to show for being educated. So much for being educated. It is mostly the ones who claim to be most knowledgeable and educated, that ends up being the ones with little to no money. Better get those unimportant papers of yours, get the hell out, before I change my mind and let Sarah have a go at you. You can see how angry you are getting her already. Your presence here irritates us".

Lisa, tongue lashing him as well. She still had that look of disguts in her eyes for him. Seeing her in that mood, Pedro almost felt like he did the previous day, but he held himself and never showed any form of emotion, so they won't see him anymore of a looser than they already did. He quickly went upstairs, went into their bedroom, got his credentials and the other documents he needed, came downstairs, headed out without uttering a word to any of the ladies, inclusive of his wife.

Truly, he discovered for the second time that, her mind was really made up in regards to the dissolution of their marriage and there was no way back from what was going to happen. He walked out of the house and didn't look back. For he had accepted the cruel fate life had given him.
