While the revelation Luck had just imparted to her was still boggling her mind, Luck on the other hand was calmly looking through his menu.

He looked completely unperturbed by the fact that he found the find of the year. Events like these were as far and few, and most would be amped to be in his position.

Exasperated by Luck’s sudden lackluster attitude, Flama wanted to smack the guy on the head for withholding this information out on them but her calm head prevailed.

“Why would you want to sell it?! You could do alot more with these books. You could start your own guild with these. People would be willing to follow you to get a chance to use these books. You’d be the leader of the first group in years to pioneer the next age!”

Luck gave an indifferent “nah’ and explained.

“I’m not interested in starting a guild any time soon.” He then shrugged his shoulders as a show of indifference.

“Plus, I’m more set on a different goal right now. I’m sure you remember the world announcement

Upon logging out of the game, Luck began to check the results of his earnings from the recent live streams he had been doing on flinch.tv. Frowning, what irked Luck was the marked decrease in overall viewership per stream session. In the past, he was able to get total viewers in the range of the mid double digits but after his deal with the Kingdom of Primeria, it was now showed that he had been only getting total viewership in the lower double digits. This had an effect since the earnings made from a full week's worth of gaming and work only came out to a measly 438 Credits after factoring in tax. While this was a good chunk of money made from just playing games, it was pennies when compared to Luck’s original salary if he had gotten a job at a gaming company. But remembering the long hours and abusive upper management, he shook off that idea and quickly got undressed. After a late night drip in the tube, Luck got changed and returned to his room to review the different courses

"So you want advice on how to grow closer to Luck?” Caleb asked, his brow raised so high that he felt his head hurt from doing it. “Yup.” Flama affirmed “And why would you think I have an answer to this problem?” “I don’t really know, but you're the only person I can go to about this. Of all my friends, I’m only comfortable about talking about this with you. If it's with the other guild members, I think I’ll die of embarrassment.”“I see, but I do want to warn you that my knowledge on the matter of a boy's heart is limited.” “Why’s that?” Slapping his forehead in frustration, Caleb didn’t know where to even start. He wondered if Flama was trying to tease him or if this was a serious conversation for the sake of the guild’s future. In either case in his head, this was now his problem. “Alright, forget I asked. So why do you think you aren’t getting along with him all that well? You had an argument with him today but what’s new. You’ve done that before during the negotiation fo

Meanwhile, while Luck was working away in his house making potions, Flama and Caleb had taken the chance to go out and enjoy the game to the fullest. It had been a long time since the two of them ever went on an adventure together. They could count the times they did in the last year on one finger. They, of course, had periods of time where they could go off and do their own thing, but it was hard for them to coordinate a period of time when they were both available to hangout. Taking a whiff of the sweet sea breeze, Flama felt the stress of her duties fly off from her shoulders. Doing much the same, Caleb looked at the ocean’s horizons with a fond gaze. “Man! It's been a while since I’ve seen the sea.” Flama said, stretching her arms to help wake her body up. “Same here.” Caleb added. “But, Flama? Doesn’t your family own a beach house somewhere outside of the city?” While nodding, she explained. “My family has been pushing me to take over the family business lately. Because of

Thrown off guard, Caleb had to put both his hands on his shield’s handle to refocus and steady his posture. While he had lost his main mode of attack, he still had a job to do. Taking the hits, Caleb saw his health go steady down. Only 2 beasts remained thanks to Flama's quick actions but the beast's hits were still heavy and damaging. Their size was mainly the cause of his trouble but Caleb felt that they hit faster and stronger than the usual forest wolves. *roar* One of the beasts howled in anger, which sent an unusual and unseen shock wave through the air. Unaware of its presence, Caleb unintentionally took it on thinking that it was just the beast’s angry musings. Wanting to take a step forward to reposition himself into a better stance, Caleb found himself grunting with effort to even move a muscle. Surprised, he tried to call out but even talking seemed to be hard since his mouth felt as if it was cramping up. ‘Damnit, what the hell is this!’ He thought, concerned whil

While hiding among the bush, Flama and Caleb continued to observe what they believe to be a newly discovered creature in the game. With the recent world announcements, changes to the world environment were only a matter of time. With how long it had been since Luck’s triggering of the recent world announcements, this was of no surprise to either Flama or Caleb. In fact, they used this opportunity to its fullest. Using their in-game cameras programmed within the interfaces of their huds, Flama and Caleb began noting down as many details as they could. “Be sure to get as much intel.” Caleb said softly. “We’ll need to share this with our allies to prepare for any other, more drastic changes to the game.” Flama sighed, a bit sour at the mention of more work to be done, but sucked it up. “Alright, just be sure to not get caught. I wasn’t expecting to fight a horde of monsters, so I only packed a few potions.” Agreeing, Caleb moved as quietly as he could to get closer. In-game informa

  • Return to Level 0   Chapter 32 Craft and Discover

While Flama and Caleb were away, having their adventure, Luck was flicking through his inventory. Taking stock of what Flama had provided for him, per her agreement for his help. After using the morning to get all his tools in order, Luck finally had a working potion making set up in his workshop in the back. It involved a cauldron, mixing beakers, a large mortar and pestle, and a variety of both old medieval apothecary tools and 19th century chemistry tools, like glass beakers and pipettes. While he lacked the more sophisticated tools like a microscope or a centrifuge, the manual tools would serve their purpose. Crafting in the game of Level 0 truly mimicked real life. Constant testing was needed to create a usable product and with Luck’s ambitions he would need more than what his exchange shop could provide. While the interface’s tutorial said that it could provide anything and everything, this was limited on both the current age of expansion and the amount of RP he had saved.

[Thank you for exchanging 1 mithril ore, 10,000 RP has been added to your balance.] Wanting to see if the mithril ore could be exchanged for resource points in his exchange shop, Luck inserted a single unit of the precious ore. “10 times more!” Luck shouted, amazed that this singular unit of ore was worth the equivalent to 10 medium magic crystals, but this got Luck thinking. He reviewed what he had seen with his [Eye of the Creator] class skill and noted the phrase of “emanating power” from the item's description. If his knowledge of the future was right, which he was very much certain of, mithril ore was categorized by the player community to be a magic related ore. Foretold and used in past fantasy mediums and books, it became a staple in most online games and literature. While this history lesson was a bore to Luck, it did give him insightful information. He began to understand that his exchange shop allowed for the transference of magic energy from physical objects into usa

Getting up from her chair, Flama had stopped Luck in his tracks after getting his attention. She approached, making him feel a bit intimidated due to the slight height difference she had on him, while only a few inches, it was enough to make Luck feel somewhat uncomfortable. Keeping a straight face, he let her approach as she then leant down a bit to make direct eye contact with him, unintentionally showing off her outfit. From Luck’s view point, he saw the glint of Flama’s twin blades behind her back. In truth, Flama was trying to show off her beauty. At her current age, she was at her peak, and while she might have taken a few liberties in changing her in-game character’s appearance with cash shop items, her peers in real life touted her as being a young Madonna of the current generation. With her long fire-like hair cascading down the sides of her face, she pulled the stray locks away in a somewhat inviting manner. “So, I realize that you don’t seem to have your own gaming pod

As the battle continued, the men of Dieles who were led by Soloman, pushed the left flank forward. Soloman’s resounding and thundering voice pressed the men forth. They felt as if their backs were given a hearty pat of encouragement, and it was effective. So much so that these rough and tumble frontier villagers became even more so. It was as if they were invincible, but that was far from the truth. “Grah! Watch out! Hold that LINE!”Soloman barked orders as the oncoming swarm of monsters had seemed to increase. In fact, a new wave of stone beak appeared from the nearby valleys. This new force of monsters had come a knocking. Were they drawn in by the spilled blood or were they battle hungry animals who roared for the hunt?Soloman didn’t know but he put that out of his mind. He called for the knowledge of tactics within him, long held back since common managerial matters used to be his main concern. But now, he could use it. He could use the ethereal blade of wisdom he had kept she

  • Chapter 58 Dodos In the Mountains

Upon arriving to the mountainous northeastern terrain of the frontier, the caravan’s pace had slowed on account of the uneven dirt roads. The carriages and wagons were meant for flat and even roads, so a winding uneven path that went up and down was not easily traversed for this large group of people. Not only that, but this location was inhabited by a species of rock creatures that regular NPCs could not handle. So, much to Flama’s delight, she got a chance to finally have her fun.Jumping from the lead carriage, she equipped her dual swords.“Enemy spot! I’m taking them out!” She said with gusto and charged the gray rock scaled enemies. These were stone beaks, a dodolike creature that had a beak as hard as metal but with a gray dull color at its elongated beak’s tip. They were fast and moved in packs, so dealing with them was usually done with a team of players. But Flama disregarded all forms of teamwork at the moment.Being coped up in the carriage for 2 days had really grated on

Getting himself settled into the lead carriage, Luck and his party would be given a chance to sit together and talk. The responsibility for navigating and steering the wagon was given to Soloman, who was attending the trip as well since he was interested in Flama’s hunch that something new was out in the northeastern mountains. To Soloman’s knowledge, the northeastern mountains had nothing of interest. Only the common rocks and materials like marble, granite, and wood that a person could gather. Although, he had been hearing about rumors of new monsters in the frontier, along with changes in geography. He had not seen it firsthand, so this was a good opportunity to see for himself. As Soloman steered the lead carriage, an accompanying caravan of about 20 wagons and carriages followed in a tight formation behind him.“OPEN THE GATE!” A soldier yelled, giving the signal to his consort men. “Have a good trip Mister Soloman.”Waving back Soloman chuckled. “I will, be sure to keep the plac

  • Chapter 56 A Couple's Morning In Dieles

At the crack of dawn, the citizens of Dieles awoke as usual. Players like Luck, Flama, and Caleb, would have to say and think that these people were quite rural or rough and tumble. But they came to terms with this, this was life on the frontier, a place where the land had yet to fully develop in a city where all conveniences were always so close. The setting was medieval, citizens were in leather tunics while others had some form of plated metal, strapped to their chest like armor. Amongst them, a large group of about 100 men were busying themselves as they loaded wagons and carriages with everything they would need for a trip. Flama, the ruler of the Kingdom of Primeria, stood beside the mayor of Dieles, Soloman. A few Dieles citizens wondered who the girl standing beside their rotund mayor was, but going by his demeanor it made them think that Flama was quite important. At the side, Luck could already envision what kind of reaction they would have if they found out that Flama, w

  • Chapter 55 Developments in Dieles

Rolling through the gates, it was the 4th day they had been on their journey, more than twice the expected time they had expected to go through. Entering the port village Dieles, Luck heard the chatter as NPCs worked about selling their seaside wears. From dried fish to fishing equipment, this village truly embodied a seaside life.He could even spot a distant beach as they passed through the village. After arriving at the Village Major’s house, they were greeted by a contingent of the village's militia, who were apparently informed via carrier pigeon about Flama’s arrival. The group of armed men were dressed inconspicuous to ensure they wouldn’t bring any upheaval or attention to Flama. While she was their queen, they knew that all rulers needed to ensure their safety and not bring attention to themselves.“Welcome!” A man with a rotund belly bellowed, his mustache curling around his playful finger. “I greet our fine guests from afar. Might there be anything we can assist with. We s

  • Chapter 54 Under the Night

Looking to the side as she laid there, out camping in the wild at night, Carol moved her hand from under the sheet. She gripped Luck’s hand who was beside her, he finished humming his tune, so she looked at him with asking eyes and the question evident in the form in her brow. “You don’t have a problem with that? Are you sure?” Luck asked and Carol gave a timid nod.Luck shrugged and laid closer beside her, producing a blanket for himself. He continued to hum another tune as Carol looked up at the dark sky, the bright twin moons and sparkling stars helping to banish her fear of the dark from her mind, alleviating her fear status. It was the same here, she thought, no different from before and no different now. Her people, once in their history, had praised the stars and the moons, naming the ever-streaking stars in the sky as gods. It was a primitive idea, but Carol thought that they perhaps did it so that her people back then could have something to comfort themselves through the

  • Chapter 53 On the Way to Dieles

With the creaking of the wooden wheels sounding their way down the dirt path, Luck and his party were soon on arrival at the port village of Dieles. How they knew they were close was by the apparent salty smell of the sea. Luck sniffed and thought that this was what nature truly was like. Mixed with the dirt, he could almost taste the sea. Or how the seas on earth were like, before corporations and human hands had touched it. I made him chuckle to think that this virtual world was replacing his real life. In fact, it was as if he truly started over in a new world if he took into account that he died in his past’s life. But that was a dreary topic to think of. “Master, are you alright?” Carol asked, pressing her chest against his arm. Luck’s brow twitched away from the sky but more in the fact that he was creeped out. To him, this is like a young girl hitting on some old dude. “UH? I’m fine, just thinking about the sea.” “Really? That is all? There is not anything else?” Carol so

  • Chapter 52 NPC Nature

Hooking the horse up to the carriage, Caleb looked over to the interior of the rugged wooden wagon. It was an old piece of technology that seemed out of place in his reality’s futuristic cars. To him, it seemed retro and a novel experience to actually set one up, a perk of VRMMORPGs. “All set here, how’s the inside coming along?” “Yeah, almost finished here, come give me a hand.” While the voice was muffled, Caleb could still hear Luck clearly. Climbing up, he helped him move along crates of supplies that were inside his pocket space inventory. It consisted of water for the horse, crude straw sleeping bags, and rations to fill their bellies during a long journey. I was like they were going on a trip and while only a fraction of what Caleb had acquired, he could tell that Luck was trying to pack the wagon light. “So where to?” Caleb asked as he was handed another crate full of rations. “For now, we head north. While it might not be the most direct path to the northeastern mounta

“Incoming, 5 on the right and 3 orcs to our left flank. FLAMA!”“I know! Come get some you ugly mutts.”At Flama shouting she pumped herself up as Luck continued to observe the situation, they were in. It had been only a few hours since they began their trek to his base and along the way, it seemed that the orc encampment was making moves, he didn’t know for what purpose, but he knew they were a threat.“DOUBLE! SLASH!” Flama let loose her twin swords sinking them into the green flesh of the orcs. Without even having to communicate with Luck, she had picked up on the larger threat.Suddenly, a scorching flaming hit her square in the chest, but Flama was unphased. Instead, she charged at the remaining orc, whose skin was of blood red color. It roared and raised its club like a wand to cast another spell on the tiny human girl. But all it saw was a long blur of red hair pass him by.Not even giving the red orc a second more of her attention, Flama dashed over to Caleb as fast as she cou
