Mysterious Person

"So, what do you want?!" asked Gus.

"What do I want? You didn't hear me, did you?! But, I told you, I have good news for you!"

"I know. If you're like this, there's going to be something you want from me. That's right, isn't it?!"

Arthur, who was used to his best friend's coldness, never once felt offended. On the contrary, Gus is a kind and loyal figure to anyone who wants to be friends with him.

Want to be friends with him? Yes, not all Dark forest creatures dared approach the grumbling creatures, except Arthur and Volka. Therefore, they are finally now friends.

"Your remarks have some truth too. I was going to tell you something, but it feels better if you help me first," Arthur reasoned.

Hearing this, Gus turned over and walked back to the tree he lived in regardless of Arthur's words.

"Gus! I haven't finished talking yet! Listen to me first!" shouted Arthur.

"I don't want to get involved in your stupid actions anymore!" concluded Gus, whose voice echoed from inside the tree.

"Oh, that's it?! All right, it's okay. If you really don't want to help me, then you won't know about the news of your species that might still be alive until now. All right, I'm going."

Slowly, Arthur left Gus's residence, looking back, hoping his best friend would change his mind. However, even though Arthur's steps had gotten farther away, Gus did not appear or stop him from leaving. Unlucky! Although he needs his help at this time.

Annoyed by Gus's attitude, Arthur, still looking at the tree, immediately turned his body and was shocked by what was in front of him.

"G-Gus! Since when are you here?!" Arthur was confused as he flipped his gaze back and forth.

How could it not? The ancient rabbis had already stood firmly by crossing his arms and suddenly stood in front of Arthur.

"Come on, don't have to say much. What do you want? But this time, I beg you, if something bad happens to you, don't carry around my name and Volka. We're tired of being angered by Rudolf for always protecting you!"

Indeed, many ridiculous events led to Gus and Volka being severely harassed by Rudolf. Not without reason, all of these were Arthur's actions. Nevertheless, the two of them were willing to get involved for friendship and inability to bear to see Arthur punished alone.

"Meet me with the witch you've told me about at the time," Arthur said.

"Witch??"

"Yes, you once told about an old witch living in the southern forest, didn't you?"

"And then? Why do you want to see him? It's just a fairy tale anyway, I have never met him."

"I'll ask him to break my family's curse sooner. I'm willing to do anything for it," Arthur explained with a vengeful look.

"Ah, all right. I'll take you to him. But, whether or not your wish is fulfilled, it is not my responsibility. And after that, you'll take me to the species you were referring to earlier. Agreed?"

Gus's only hope so far is that he is not alone in this world. Being an endangered earth creature is a painful thing and will always haunt him all day long as he is alive. He just had to wait for death to pick him up. Therefore, he dared to accept Arthur's offer.

The sky was getting dark; the two prepared to go to the intended place without telling Rudolf. Arthur had his reasons why again, his father was not involved. Adolf forbade all Jotuns to come out of the forested territory of the Dark Forest. And the village of Tanee except for his consent on safety grounds.

"What did you say to your father?" asked Volka that night.

"I said we're going to the waterfall at the foot of Howa mountain and have fun," Arthur replied.

"Us? For Heaven's Sake. Listen, Arthur. Your father trusted me for the departure of you and Gus this time. But, if you don't go home until sunrise tomorrow, I won't help you forever!" warned Constabulary Arthur.

"Take it easy, you can count on me. If there's anything here, order one of the wolves to roar so I can hear it and go home soon."

"What about you, Gus?" asked Volka to Gus, who seemed to be silent without commenting.

"Ah, don't ask me. Come on, Arthur. We better go now."

The two are now walking through the darkness of the forest. With Gus guiding the direction, Arthur followed him from behind. There was not much they brought for supplies because the southern forest was not far away to visit.

"Why do you want to be a human being so much again? Wouldn't it be more comfortable like this, live peacefully where you live without interruption? Moreover, you still have a family that loves you," Gus told Arthur on the way.

"I hate it when Jotuns are perceived as pests by humans."

"Tsk! You hate humans for their treatment, but you also want to be them. Then what's the difference?" sneered Gus.

"Believe me, when my family breaks this curse, we will not be the same as other humans."

Kraak

Suddenly Ivar heard the trampling branches making him look back spontaneously and stop his footsteps. But unfortunately, the thick fog covered the view making it difficult to see clearly.

"What's the matter?" asked Gus.

Arthur just shook his head without answering and continued on his way. However, just a few meters away from walking, Arthur felt a gaffe. He heard the sound of footsteps behind him. The bushes made the sound as if something was going through him.

"Who's there?!"

Arthur's loud shout echoed the entire forest (with a sharp gaze, he aimed back, trying to figure out who was following them.

The hiss sounded like it surrounded them. Now, Arthur and Gus stood in a position of alarm to be ready to fight back.

"Easy, Arthur...."

A faint but fascinated hissing sound greeted them from the darkness.

"Don't you dare approach if you don't want me to finish!" Arthur loudened his voice while looking for the source of the sound.

Gus sharpened his gaze and saw something moving slowly from a distance. Something big, long, and occasionally reflects light from his body.

"Ck!"

There was a woman's giggling sound in a charming tone. Still watching around, Arthur and Gus are now more vigilant.

"As it turns out, a big body doesn't guarantee someone's courage...," said the mysterious figure.

"Wh-what do you mean?!" asked Arthur with a characteristic growl.

"You're Arthur. A jotun who is often proud of his toughness. I guess that weak little friend of yours reflects who you are," the figure replied.

"You better show your face, creature!"

ROAARR!

The burly monster's roar made all the forest inhabitants afraid. The birds were flying, the trees swaying and even almost broken. The fallen leaves indicated the tightness of Arthur's roaring force.

Ssshhhh

From the darkness, a long and sizeable legless reptile emerged. Her skin was golden brown with a tongue sticking out close to them.
