Chapter 4

“ Yes, you did, and I and my grandfather would forever be grateful to you.” Rachel replied, and Walton's lips coiled into a smile.

“ At least I didn't have a full bad day. Now I am also wealthy and could live the life I have always wanted.” He said and Rachel chuckled.

“ Let's go” she said and Walton followed behind her.

It took just twenty minutes to get to the hospital where Rachel's grandfather was admitted and soon enough, they were in front of his ward.

Walton couldn't go in because he was nervous. Lawson Bates had always been his role model since he was a teenager, and he always wished to be more wealthy than Lawson Bates, but what life had in store for him was different from what he had dreamed of.

“ Don't tell me you're nervous” Rachel asked amusingly and Walton inhaled sharply.

“ Who wouldn't? I would be meeting the world's richest man today, and you want me to be composed without getting nervous? He is my role model since I was a teenager, so meeting him today, is a blessing” Walton said and Rachel shook her head before opening the door to her grandfather's ward.

“Hello grandpa” Rachel smiled when she entered into the ward. Grandpa Lawson was reading the newspaper when she entered.

“ I told you not to stress yourself grandpa” Rachel frowned and Grandpa Lawson chuckled.

“ I was too bored, so I ordered for some newspapers” he replied and Rachel hugged him.

“ Guess who I brought to your ward today?” Rachel said immediately after breaking the hug.

“ And who is the person?” Grandpa Lawson asked, already eager to see who it was.

“ Walton Rex, the man who saved you and brought you to the hospital,” Rachel said, and Grandpa Lawson's lips coiled into a big smile.

“ Finally, you've found him” he said and Rachel nodded and faced the door.

“ Come in Walton” she ordered, and the door opened revealing Walton who was rubbing his both hands together out of nervousness.

“ Good day sir” Walton bowed his head and Grandpa Lawson looked at him.

“ Such a handsome looking young man. Thank you for saving my life, I am truly grateful” Grandpa Lawson appreciated and Walton smiled.

“ You've already thanked me enough by giving me such a huge amount of money,” Walton said, and grandpa Lawson faced Rachel with a questioning look.

“ I gave him some money as a sign of appreciation, grandpa” Rachel said and Grandpa Lawson nodded.

“ I heard you're the live-in-son-in-law of the Rex family, is that true?” Grandpa Lawson asked, and Walton thought for a while before answering.

“ Yes, sir, but not anymore. I caught my wife sleeping with another man on our matrimonial bed, so I left the Rex family. I would divorce her as soon as I get to the Rex mansion” Walton answered truthfully.

“ Thank you for everything, you deserve the best,” grandpa Lawson said, and Walton bowed with a smile.” Can I ask for a favor?” Grandpa pulled Walton into a deep sense of shock.

He has always seen Grandpa Lawson as a role model, and he was a poor man. What favor could he possibly do for a man of his structure.

“Okay, sir.” He nodded his head in affirmation, waiting for what the old billionaire was going to say to him.

“I want you to get married to my granddaughter.” He said.

Shockwaves went down Walton's spine, and he was transfixed in his stare.

He would not believe that Grandpa Lawson wanted him to get married to his granddaughter, but even with the shock wave, he was still able to maintain a strange calm.

Walton nodded his head and said.

“I will think about it.” He finally said.

*************

Meanwhile, Rachel accompanied Walton out of the hospital. There was a sudden rise of awkwardness and the silence engulfed between them.

“Where are you heading to?” She inquired, starting with a sudden flinch in her facial expression.

“First, I will be heading to the hotel, after which I will finally go and get a divorce.” He replied to her words.

Rachel offered to go along with him, but he immediately declined the offer, stating that he could go alone since he didn't know the specific location of the hotel that he was going to be staying at.

He finally got to the hills top hotel, one of the luxury hotels in the city, and he booked a room.

Getting attended to by the attendants that were littered all around the place, sigh of relief escaped from his lips as he fell face up on the bed.

Staying with the Rex family seemed to have washed him of all the humanity that he had in him.

Mrs. Rex had always made him sleep on the floor; he had forgotten how it was to feel comfortable.

The first thing was in the next morning, he made his way gradually to the Rex Villa with the divorce agreement in his hands.

***********

At the Rex family Villa, he made his way into the room, but didn't seem to see Lillian anywhere.

“Where could she be?” He thought again, feeling confused.

But then, he noticed that someone was sitting on the sofa, and shifting his eyes forward, he noticed that it was no other person than his mother-in-law.

From the way that she paired right into his eyes, it was obvious that she had been waiting for him for quite a while.

Her face twisted into a scornful frown immediately, their eyes crossed paths and her anger flared up almost immediately.

“Where have you been?” She thundered at him.

“Do you realize that you are the one who is supposed to do the dishes, or have you suddenly gone mad?

"The whole place now stinks as much as you do.” She glared.

But then, there was no response from Walton, getting her even more angry than she was already.

She pulled off from her seat with so much anger written all over her facial expression.

“You fool.” She thundered at him with so much fury in her voice. “Do you even realize that I am talking to you?” She thundered.

But as much as she kept on ranting, pouring insults on him, Walton ignored all the words that she was spitting from her mouth.

Thinking that Walton was taking her for a fool, she stomped over to him and slapped him firmly on his face.

“You fool. How dare you keep mute when I am talking to you?” She thundered at him.

His anger rose and his knuckles popped. But he was not yet divorced with Lillian, and the acquittal held him back.

He pulled off from the point where he was standing, moving upstairs to see if he was going to find Lillian there.

It turned out that he was right.

She was right there in the room, kissing Silas hard on the lips and playing with his lower waist.

A slight cough announced his presence, and they paused almost immediately, twisting their faces into scornful frowns.

“That fool. Must he always come here at this instance?” She muttered under her breath with so much anger.

“You fool. Have you suddenly lost all your manners? What are you doing here? When did you decide to go missing yesterday?” She thundered with every sense of anger in her voice.

Even though he was furious to his bones, he was able to maintain a strange calm staring right into her eyes and he said.

“I want a divorce.” He finally said.

The words pulled her off from her stare, sending shockwaves down her spine almost immediately.

She never thought that Walton was going to come to him to ask for a divorce.

But she would rather not look awkward before him, so she braised herself up, putting Forward a chuckle.

“A divorce?”

“Do you think that you will be able to survive it?” She laughed at him heartily.

Silas walked gradually over to her, kissed her on the head and held her waist at the same time.

Her heart raced even faster.

“That's the best thing for us. At least now, he is leaving you alone so that the rightful person will take you up.” He said, staring right into her eyes with a smile on his face.

They pulled away almost immediately and thoughts ran through her mind. She pushed forward towards Walton and shot a stare at him.

“I know that you are certainly feeling ungrateful.” She said,

"You don't realize what we have done for you this far. Okay, let me ask you this one question, where do you feel that you are going to stay after you leave here?"

She laughed so hard that a drop of tear escaped from her eyes.

“It's obvious that you can't even afford to rent the poorest of houses that are available.” She mocked him.

“Maybe he is planning to stay under the bridge because apart from that, I can't think of anywhere else that he can live.”

“It's none of your business.” He glared and with that said he left the room, not sparing Silas a glance.

He went downstairs and met his mother-in-law still standing there furiously waiting for him but he ignored her and walked past her but she pulled his hand and landed a deafening slap across his cheeks.

The slap stung Walton so badly that for a second his eyes flashed anger and he was about to raise his hand to return the slap but held himself because he already promised not to lay a finger on any woman no matter how angry he is.

" What?" His mother-in-law raised her brows.

" You want to hit me back?" She asked again moving closer to Walton who clenched his fists tightly almost drawing out blood.

" I don't hit women, so get the fuck out of my way" he gritted his teeth and walked out of the Rex Villa.

His mother-in-law was surprised because that was the first time Walton talked back at her.
