“She has some broken ribs and a red eye, which is medically diagnosed in two ways. A fall from a high place, or the former.” Doctor Miller spoke, as she examined Emily thoroughly in the confines of her room, with both Anna and Helen in attendance.

Anna looked like she could cry a river as she wiped her face with the back of her hand. “Emily, are you sure you fell?” The doctor asked in disbelief.

Yes, Doctor Miller voiced Helen's assertion. Anna could be the culprit, but nothing was certain unless Emily spoke out.

What was she scared of? “I fell.” Emily refused to change her narrative, leaving them with nothing to work with. “I'll prescribe pain relief medicine and a good night's rest. Be careful when you walk on the staircase, the Churchill mansion can be a lot.” Dr. Miller tried to defuse the tension in the room with some comic relief.
