"We have to get a divorce now," Cloe said as she handed Darren the divorce papers.
In front of Cloe, Darren looks at her with a shocked expression. Darren clutched the tote bag that carried his clothes.
For seven years Darren had been imprisoned due to false accusations from his workplace. This was his long-awaited day of freedom. But Darren didn't expect Cloe to give him divorce papers instead of a warm welcome.
Darren is speechless and doesn't know what to say. For a split second, Darren tries to wait to see if Cloe is just making a joke or not.
"Why are you silent? Sign the letter," Cloe said once again.
It wasn't just Darren who fell silent. But also Cloe's family and another strange man.
Darren asked, "What did you say?"
Cloe folded her arms across her chest as she laughed sarcastically. She looked away for a moment, then looked at Darren again through disgusted eyes.
"Don't you get it? I want a divorce from you. I've been waiting seven years for you to get out of prison," Cloe retorted without hesitation.
"No... Cloe, you can't do this," Darren insists with a worried shake of his head.
As if ignoring Darren's words, Cloe picked up a ballpoint pen from the table and thrust it at Darren.
"Take this. Sign it now. We can't afford any more time, Darren," Cloe said urgently.
Darren still didn't want to accept the pen that Cloe held out. For some reason, this situation felt awkward. Cloe should have given him a warm welcome because he was imprisoned on false charges.
Why is Cloe asking for a divorce now?
"I don't understand. After seven years of my imprisonment, you're giving me divorce papers?" Darren asked, his tone starting to sound angry.
"Of course, why would I continue a marriage with an ex-con like you?" Cloe replied using a sarcastic tone.
"You know the charges against me are false, Cloe. I am completely innocent."
Darren knew that Cloe wouldn't believe him easily. Just like seven years ago, when he was accused of embezzling funds and masterminding the company's illegal activities, Cloe didn't listen to his explanation.
It's not just Cloe. Everyone, including Cloe's family, doesn't want to know the truth either.
Now Darren thinks maybe Cloe can change her mind to trust him. But what he gets is a divorce decree. It never even occurred to Darren that Cloe would take care of this.
"I don't care, Darren. You're an ex-con. You've got a bad reputation, and you're going to make my family's company very bad," Cloe retorted firmly.
Darren immediately laughed with a smirk as he lowered his head for a moment. When he lifted his face again, his gaze had turned sharp on Cloe.
"You sacrificed our marriage for the good name of the company?" Darren asked.
Cloe nodded without hesitation. "I did, and I'm not going to live the rest of my life with an ex-convict. Besides, I don't love you, Darren. Never have."
For a few seconds Darren just watched Cloe. At that moment Darren couldn't help but be curious about something.
"Is that why you're in a relationship with another man?" Darren asked as he glanced at the man behind Cloe.
Cloe looked back and smiled at the stranger. Cloe extended her hand, and he returned it until they clasped hands.
Cloe looks back at Darren with a guiltless smile.
"That's right. I'm going to marry him, Darren," Cloe said, firmly.
Darren felt anger rise in his heart. He hadn't expected Cloe to say that.
"You've been cheating on me all this time?" asked Darren, smiling sarcastically. "For how long?"
"Two years. I'm so tired of waiting for you to get out of prison," Cloe retorted as she squirmed in her new lover's arms.
"How dare you..." Darren's tone sounded trembling with anger, his jaw hardening.
Cloe then glanced at the document on the desk. "Sign it now. We're divorced."
Darren immediately nodded his head, even though his chest was filled with anger. Without further ado, Darren picked up the pen that was lying around.
Darren then took the pen and signed their divorce document.
"You're such an ignorant traitor, Cloe. I've been doing business with you all this time!" Darren said in a high tone. "After you became CEO, you dumped me for nothing..."
Cloe didn't seem to care.
From behind Cloe, two mansion maids come in carrying a large tote bag. Cloe and Pablo, her father, throw the tote bag to the floor. It falls right in front of Darren.
"Get out of the mansion!"
Feeling trampled, Darren picked up the two tote bags on the floor. Darren briefly looked at Cloe, Pablo, and Teressa-Cloe's mother with a fierce glare.
"I will come before you to make you sorry!" Darren said firmly.
***
Darren's steps were somewhat staggered as he walked down the city's footpaths. Darren is now homeless after his house was sold to give to Cloe as business capital.
Darren carried three tote bags on his body with anger. His hopes of a happy marriage with Cloe are shattered. His disappointment is so great in Cloe after his sacrifice was wasted.
"Ah, right, he's the one!"
Darren immediately turned around spontaneously after hearing a male voice. Not far behind, there were four well-built men with the appearance of thugs.
Shortly after, one of the more prominent men ran quickly towards Darren. His gaze was furious. Without further ado, he grabbed Darren by the collar.
"You bastard! You didn't pay your debt and just disappeared!"
BUGH!
A powerful punch connected with Darren's jaw.
Darren's body is sent crashing to the pavement, the strap of his tote bag slipping away.
"Hey, you poor guy! If you can't pay your debts, don't run away like a loser!"
Darren groaned in pain at the hard impact of his body. He didn't understand what was happening, nor did he even know who the loan shark was that was coming after him now.
Before Darren could get up, the loan shark approached and pulled his collar again. Darren's body was forced to stand up and then received a fist to his stomach.
"Hold him there!" the loan shark boss said as he pushed Darren's body against the wall.
The three right hands of the loan shark boss held Darren's body against the wall. Darren did not have time to fight back because he was trying to understand the situation.
As Darren's body was pressed against the wall and his hands were held by the three right hands of the loan shark, the loan shark boss stood in front of him.
The loan shark boss' gaze was very sharp at Darren.
"You can't escape now." Then, the loan shark boss grabbed Darren's jaw. "Give me your money. You have to pay back everything you owe!"
Darren's heartbeat was racing fast at that moment. He had no idea what the loan shark boss was talking about.
"I don't know what you mean," Darren replied, his clenched jaw making it difficult for him to speak.
"Shit! You're even still trying to escape?!" The loan shark boss snapped at Darren again.
"I really don't know! What debt are you talking about?!"
The loan shark boss laughed sarcastically. "Gosh, it turns out that someone used your name as a guarantor for a debt. What a pity. But I don't care, debt is still debt!"
Darren frowned. His heart sank. Who would use his name as a guarantor for a debt? He'd been in prison all this time.
"How much is the total debt?" Darren asked.
"Ten million dollars!"
Darren glared in surprise. That's a huge amount! How could he pay such a huge amount?!
"If you don't pay, you will die here. Tonight."
"I really don't have any money..." Darren said with resignation. The loan shark boss slapped Darren hard on the cheek, three times. Darren's face fell, but his body was held in place by three of the loan shark's men."You poor, stupid man!"Then the loan shark boss's gaze shifted to Darren's three tote bags lying on the ground. The loan shark boss pointed at Darren's three tote bags."Hey, open those three bags and take any valuables!" The loan shark boss gave the order. The loan shark boss's three men nodded obediently. Without further ado, they immediately approached Darren's three tote bags. Meanwhile, the loan shark boss immediately took over Darren's body."You, gosh... you make me feel sorry for you with your shabby appearance now. But you're still the poor guy who ran away for two years from what he owed me!"The loan shark boss delivered a punch to Darren's stomach. He didn't care that Darren was in pain and limply holding his stomach. The loan shark's hand firmly gripped the
"Jeez, I only have a small balance left on the card for the train," Darren muttered listlessly as he looked at his commuter line train card.Darren's steps moved along the sidewalk of the commuter line. Darren had intended to return to his parents' house in the village. Along the way, his eyes only pay attention to the commuter train card in his hand."Luckily the loan sharks didn't take the rest of my allowance that I hid in my pants," Darren muttered with a sigh of relief.Darren lifted his face as his destination train arrived. Suddenly his steps immediately rushed to get closer to the station platform.Everyone who was about to board this train seemed to be jostling. Darren repeatedly nudged the shoulders of several people around him. Soon the train stopped. The train doors opened. Passengers from inside the train came out, followed by other passengers from outside-including Darren entering the train door.Luckily, Darren still gets a seat to sit in the crowd of passengers. "Welcome to the Washington Miller Hotel, Mr. Darren. This is the Miller family hotel."Darren's eyes traveled from Walt to the luxurious view of the hotel lobby. Darren was dumbfounded. A huge hologram of a circular artificial fountain. The water fell from the ceiling like a domed basin as a centerpiece in the middle of the lobby. There are also towering trees around the fountain hologram. The hotel's design is predominantly white and gold, giving it a luxurious feel. The hotel elevator is tube-shaped, similar to the tubes in the science technology movie Darren was watching.Darren is almost speechless as he marvels at all aspects of the hotel. Several robot attendants pass by. "How luxurious." Darren commented absentmindedly.Walt replied, "Of course. The Miller family is the number one richest family in Washington. This hotel is the center of twenty-five branches spread across several American cities and other European countries."Darren spontaneously looked at Walt with a shocked
"You can rest in this Suite Luxury room for two days. After that, there will be an official introduction of you as the CEO of the Miller Family company," Walt said.Walt escorted Darren to one of the most luxurious rooms.Darren didn't have time to answer Walt's words. He was dumbfounded by the luxury of this room. As he entered, Darren saw that there was a magnificent glass window stretching wide in a semicircular basin. From just a few meters away, Darren could see the luxurious tapered buildings of Washington. Darren could also see several robots flying around."Is this real?" muttered Darren.Without caring about Walt, the curious Darren immediately stepped quickly closer to the magnificent window. After getting closer, Darren could clearly see the overpass with cars hanging down the road. There were several buildings whose roofs were made of solid concrete. In some buildings, robotic janitors flew from one glass to another.Almost all buildings have magnificent LED screens displa
"What happened?" Darren asked in confusion after seeing the hologram screen. With his confused expression, Darren was glued to all the written information on the holographic screen in front of his face. "What is it, Mr. Darren?" Hellen asked in a panicked tone of voice. Darren shook his head without taking his eyes off the holographic screen. His hand waved at Hellen as if to shoo away the gray robot. "Go now. You obeyed my orders, right? Get out of this room!" Darren said sternly to Hellen. Hellen actually didn't want to leave right away because Darren hadn't answered. But seeing Darren's instructions, Hellen was finally forced to leave the presence of her owner. After Hellen left the room, Darren stepped back. Until his foot hit the edge of the bed so that his body fell into the bed just like that. Darren's gaze was still glued to the holographic screen in front of his eyes. [Hello, welcome, User!] [You have successfully activated the Success Revenge system] Darren frowned
"Give the bow respects to Mr. Giordan and Mrs. Jane." Darren stared at the two crates laid out in a row in front of him. Along with Mrs. Miller and Mr. Miller-his father, he was at the funeral home to pay his last respects to his nanny parents. Following his father Mr. Miller's orders, Darren, the Miller family members and the bodyguards bowed. While doing so, Darren's heart burned with anger. He remembered all the good deeds of his foster parents. After straightening up, there was a moment of silence. Then Mr. Miller said to the bodies of Mr. Giordan and Mrs. Jane, "You have worked with the Miller Family for almost ten years. We thank you for the many sacrifices you made." Darren gritted his teeth, trying to contain his anger. The more he looked at Mr. Giordan and Mrs. Jane's bodies in the open casket, the more guilty Darren felt. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you both," Darren said softly. Darren's words were heard by Mr. Miller and Mrs. Miller. Seeing the look in Darren's e
"The Corpa Miller Group officially announces the son of our heir apparent is back. For years we've waited for him to arrive, now welcome Darren Awalter Miller!" A loud applause echoed through the room. Everyone seemed both excited and very curious. In contrast to the reactions of all the guests, the Johnson Family was stunned in disbelief. Darren's name was certainly not unfamiliar to them. When Darren walked to the center of the stage, all eyes looked at him in awe. Including the members of the Johnson Family. "How come Darren is the main heir to the Miller Family?" Cloe said with an admiring look. Cloe secretly regretted remembering her bad treatment to Darren sixteen years ago. Cloe could only grimace in her seat and automatically compared Darren's amount of wealth with Jack, her husband. Moreover, Darren's appearance had changed drastically compared to sixteen years ago. "I didn't expect to be standing at this point now, in front of all of you," Darren began to open his voi
"This is all your fault, Darren!" Darren gasped when Charlotte suddenly attacked his collar. He didn't understand why Charlotte had come to the Miller mansion the next day. Charlotte's sudden arrival to attack Darren made several Miller Family bodyguards rush over. They all tried to pull Charlotte's body away from Darren. "You're the one who spread the video! Why are you doing this to me?!" Charlotte asked in a furious tone. Darren tried to calm his shock as he gripped Charlotte's hand. Her face looked up as her neck was slightly strangled. "Let go of me, Mr. Charlotte!" Darren said warningly. Charlotte paid no attention to Darren's words. She growled even more as she gritted her teeth. "Do you think you can be so powerful and destroy the Johnson family?!" Charlotte exclaimed loudly in front of Darren's face. "Calm yourself, Mr. Charlotte! If you keep strangling me like this, the bodyguards will take warning action against you!" Darren said firmly. As Darren said, the Miller
"What do you mean Mr. Rudolf?" Darren replied by asking Mr. Rudolf back. "Who are you?" asked Mr. Rudolf as if he was interrogating Darren. "Do I have to introduce myself? You seem to know who I am," replied Darren in a casual tone. "What is your purpose in accepting Mr. Charlotte's offer to join us? Why would a member of the Miler Family, who is famous for never doing dirty business, want to join us?" Mr. Rudolf asked Darren. "I just want to learn from those of you who have experience in this field," Darren replied innocently. "Honestly, tell us your real purpose for joining us," Mr. Rudolf urged Darren to tell the truth. "I really want to learn with you how to do dirty business in a smooth and neat way. Sooner or later I'll need those skills too, right?" Darren replied still trying to show his innocence. Seeing Darren and Mr. Rudolf arguing, Mr. Charlotte could not stand it and immediately intervened to break them up. "Already Mr. Rudolf, don't argue about somethi
Darren, still with a serious, thoughtful look on his face, continued, "I don't think Mr. Handrick would trust me that easily. Even if I said that Mr. Albern would betray him-" "He'd be more likely to believe that you were the reason he couldn't save Mr. Salvador, and Mr. Salvador killed himself?" interrupted Walt who interjected his words. Darren snapped his fingers as he nodded his head. "Yup! I need very valid evidence for Mr. Handrick to believe me. Do you have anything that shows Mr. Charlotte left with Mr. Albern?" Darren asked. "Ah, I just remembered!" Walt said. After that Darren waited for Walt to let go of the camera hanging around his neck. Darren's eyebrows shot up as Walt looked for something on the camera. "I actually took pictures of Mr. Charlotte and Mr. Albern's arrival," Walt said. "Hey, did you bring that camera with you when you did the reconnaissance on Mr. Charlotte?" Darren asked rather frantically. Walt briefly stopped his movement and move
"How dare you treat me roughly like that?!" Cloe rebuked, her voice almost shouting. Without caring about Cloe, Jack turned his gaze back to Darren. "Hey, I don't care what business you have with Cloe, but you shouldn't have come into our lives!" "I didn't come into your life, Jack. It was you... you who made me come to you again!" Darren emphasized. Because he was already annoyed, Jack suddenly growled harshly. Jack immediately punched Darren without a signal. So that Darren's body was thrown to the side. "Mr. Darren!" Walt exclaimed worriedly. Meanwhile, Jack spontaneously moved backwards due to the pressure of his energy when he punched Darren. Jack was breathing heavily. For a few seconds, he just stared at Darren. "Mr. Darren. Are you hurt?" asked Walt as he crouched beside Darren. Darren raised his palms to signal that he was fine. Even so, his head felt dizzy. He was shocked by Jack's sudden fist attack. "Ah, bastard," Darren grumbled. "He's so strong. Is he human
"What do you see, Mr. Darren?" From the side, Walt came over and asked. Darren immediately pointed to the part of the palm dust imprint he had witnessed. He asked Walt and Wayce to pay intense attention as well. "Do you know why someone would stick their palm to the glass of a car door?" Darren asked. Walt and Wayce were still silent, watching the part that Darren had pointed out. For a split second, they felt that this imprint, which at first glance looked like someone's palm, was very strange. How could not? Darren watched Walt and Wayce with a look that was both confused and curious. Darren wanted to know how Walt and Wayce would react. "Who did this?" asked Wayce. "If there's a palm print, all I know is that the person was trying to open the car door. Or he was tapping on the glass so he could call for help." "Asking for help?" asked Darren, who looked at Wayce in confusion. He silently wondered what she meant. Wayce immediately nodded her head. "You know, Mr. Darre
Darren's gaze returned to Mr. Miller. With an expression that was already starting to get dizzy, he flinched for a moment. "I'll take care of Jack so he doesn't send threats to our family," Darren said. "I'm warning you again, be careful dealing with the Walter Family, Darren!" shouted Mr. Miller as Darren walked away. After getting out of the argument with Mr. Miller, Daren immediately prepared to meet Jack who had dared to threaten his father. That very morning, Daren went to Jack's company. After arriving, Daren immediately broke into Jack's room and was detained by Jack's secretary, but to no avail. Daren managed to get into Jack's room and immediately vented his anger by pounding on Jack's desk. Jack was surprised but still looked at Darren calmly. Although in fact Jack was also annoyed at Darren's actions "Can you knock on the door? I'm not even sure you have permission to enter my room," Jack said. "What do you mean sending my father such a threatening message!
"There were no threats made to me by Mr. Charlotte. The withdrawal of the charges is purely from my own initiative, given that Mr. Charlotte has admitted his actions." A calm, thoughtful, and charming answer. Yes, Darren, always has a wise answer to any question regardless of the situation. "Aren't the companies Corpa Miller Group and The G&K Johnson Group business rivals?" "Competition in the business world is unavoidable, so I try to think more rationally in taking action and not easily get emotional just because of trivial issues," Darren answered which also became his closing statement. According to him, the three questions were enough to answer and provide sufficient information. Darren then signaled Walt to open the way and took him away from the press conference room. Suddenly Darren's departure from the stage made the journalists excited because they were not satisfied with the answers given by Darren. They then crowded towards Darren who was walking away from the
"System turn on," Darren muttered in a very low voice as he walked down the hallway. [SYSTEM ACTIVATED!] [SYNCHRONIZATION... 15% 25% 44% 56%...] Darren had just gotten information from the receptionist that Cloe was in the restaurant's VVIP room. He had also gotten a message from Cloe asking him to come directly to the VVIP room. To be honest, Darren's heart was already racing. He imagined what he would talk about with Cloe later. "Mr. Darren, you must be on your guard in case Mrs. Cloe has a plan to trap you," said Walt who walked beside Darren. Darren was somewhat snapped out of his reverie. He nodded his head. "All right, Walt. You just relax, I can guard against Cloe's devious plans," Darren said with a reassuring smile. [SYNCHRONIZATION COMPLETE!] [WHAT DO YOU NEED, DARREN?] "Protection protection," Darren replied quietly. "Connect the connection with the robotic device named Hellen." [REQUEST ACCEPTED!] [THE SYSTEM PROCESSES THE CONNECTION WITH THE ROBOT
"You were acquitted of drug charges one week ago, but now you admit guilt. Did someone pressure you? Are you a victim of guilt and slander?" When he heard the question, Mr. Salvador suddenly stopped walking, followed by the reporters who were curious about his response. Amidst the crowd of reporters and camera flashes still shining on him, Mr. Salvador looked in the direction of the question. There stood a reporter in a plaid shirt and round glasses grinning slyly at him. "How could you think of such a question?" Mr. Salvador's ambiguous words instantly made the other journalists feel compelled to listen. "What do you mean by that, Mr. Salvador?" urged one of the other reporters to give a more detailed explanation. However, Mr. Salvador preferred to remain silent. Just as he was about to resume his stalled walk, someone shouted his name in the middle of the crowd. "Salvador!" Suddenly, what had been a crowded room fell silent. Everyone in the room fell silent, inc
"Orphan told me. She's probably in the police car for protection right now, she's still in shock from the abuse she received. "You might as well help me protect Orphan, especially from the media. Don't let the media know that it was the drug cartel's henchmen who leaked the information, because it could derail my plan," Darren said. After talking at length with Patricia, Darren immediately approached Walt who was waiting for him in the car. During the trip, Darren, who sat in the passenger seat, closed his eyes as if he was replenishing his energy that had been a little drained all day. However, not long after his cell phone rang, displaying the name Mr. Charlotte, Darren picked it up. "Hello?" Darren's voice opened the conversation. "Hello, Darren. Where are you?" asked Mr. Charlotte matter-of-factly. "On my way home, Mr. Charlotte. What's going on?" Darren replied matter-of-factly, he was indeed on his way to the mansion. "Before you go home, can you join the meeting with
