25. The Secret

"Nothing happened between us," Cloe replied quickly without waiting for Mr. Matthew's reply.

Darren was somewhat surprised. But he just silently looked at Cloe who seemed to be hiding nervousness. On the other hand, he had guessed that Cloe would behave like this.

Of course Darren knew Cloe was lying. Even from the look in Mr. Matthew's eyes that implied something to Cloe, the rumors circulating about their dispute felt true.

"Well, there was a bit of that going on, but you've probably forgotten about it, Mrs. Cloe," Mr. Matthew replied with a chuckle.

Darren felt even more intrigued after hearing Mr. Matthew's answer. His curiosity grew, wanting to get an answer as to what happened between them.

"Oh, what do you need to come directly and urgently, Mr. Darren?" asked Mr. Matthew who had turned his eyes towards Darren.

"Actually, I feel guilty for coming without an appointment. I really needed a vehicle to get to a business meeting tomorrow," Darren replied.

"No problem, Mr. Darren.
