Freedom or a Gilded Cage

“I heard my mom and dad visited Philip Tower today.” Vanessa said as a maid served their dinner.

“They did.” Stephen plainly answered.

Vanessa could tell that there was something on her fiance’s mind, he rarely answered her in that manner.

Stephen was seated across her, his thoughts clearly miles away. Vanessa reached out and held his hand, making Stephen look at her.

“What’s wrong?” Vanessa asked, concerned about what had happened in the office. “Did my parents do something?” She questioned Stephen.

He shook his head and cleared his mind. He was supposed to be enjoying what private time he had with Vanessa.

Stephen knew that the moment his identity was revealed, they would have very little privacy and he would always be busy with work.

“It’s not your parents.” He said, clearing his throat as he gave her a kind look.

“What did my parents want, anyway?” She questioned.

Stephen chuckled and shook his head, leaning back and sighing.
