Uncle

The little boy stared at Stephen and blinked his wide hazel eyes.

Those eyes alone were enough to tell Stephen that the kid was his cousin’s. It was such a rare distinct eye color that there was no way the child wasn’t related to Hans.

“I want my auntie Hana!” The boy started to cry out, confusing Stephen and his companions.

The child didn’t look for his mother or great grandfather, rather he searched for the young woman who was resting in another room.

“Your auntie Hana isn’t feeling well, little boy.” Stephen said in a somewhat cold tone.

“Stephen!” Vanessa hissed as she pulled the child on her lap and gently stroked his head, trying to calm him down. “He’s a child, he might belong to the Ong family but he is innocent.”

Stephen was caught off guard by her words but wasn’t entirely surprised.

Vanessa had the tendency to see good in all people and to protect the most innocent of them all.
