115. The First Fall

Under that provocative gaze, Eugene certainly didn't want to back down. She returned Jane's stare, not with her usual calmness, but with a hint of possessiveness and a firm determination to defend what she had. They locked eyes, baring their emotions to each other.

Seeing this, Kalix felt dizzy. Even if he didn't like Jane, it didn't mean he enjoyed seeing Eugene so defensive. Yet, he didn't want to intervene and risk being misunderstood by Eugene. So, he quietly observed the confrontation unfolding before his eyes.

Realizing Kalix's silence, both Eugene and Jane simultaneously turned their gaze toward him.

"What's up? Did you finally remember I'm here?" Kalix looked at Eugene and spoke to her naturally.

Eugene snorted in annoyance and turned her face away. She looked at Jane again, "I don't care who you are or where you're from. All I know is that Kalix is mine, and I'll defend him unless he himself wants to leave me."
