16. Commotion in the Cafeteria

"Did you decline Senior Carl's invitation?" Luke walked up to him as soon as he saw Kalix coming out of the classroom.

As one of the students majoring in software engineering, Luke naturally knew Carl and Bernard's reputation as two smart seniors. However, what the two of them were most famous for was their unrelenting rivalry, which was said to have been going back and forth since kindergarten.

Kalix did not look at Luke when he casually replied, "Not really."

It couldn't be said to be a refusal, though not an agreement. He didn't want to explain too much to Luke.

Luke realized that too, so he didn't ask more questions. "Where are you going? Are you going to the cafeteria?"

"Yes," Kalix answered again briefly.

Luckily Luke was used to Kalix's short answers and his indifferent attitude. As long as Kalix didn't shoo him away, he followed along beside him. By the way, Kalix didn't count on the food either.
