22. Competition

Kalix pretended not to notice Jaxson's change of expression. Even if he didn't pretend, what could he do? Nothing, right?

Jaxson examined the bank card carefully, his entire face displaying surprise. However, he didn't ask Kalix about it, fearing he might make a mistake. He could only swallow his uncertainty raw.

They walked out of the restaurant, Jaxson turning towards his car. After a few steps, he realized Eugene wasn't following behind. Turning around, he saw the two of them walking side by side. Annoyance gripped Jaxson's heart. How could Eugene ignore him and choose to walk with that unfamiliar guy?

Jaxson took decisive steps towards Eugene and Kalix, grabbed the girl's hand, and angrily said, "Come on, let's go home."

Eugene was startled, reflexively pulled her hand away, and pushed Jaxson. When she realized it was Jaxson, she immediately apologized. "I thought someone else was pulling my hand."
