74. Enemy First Step

On the next workday, Nick entered Kalix’s office with a troubled expression.

“What did you do to Eve?” Nick asked with displeasure.

“Nothing,” Kalix glanced at him briefly and returned focus to his computer.

A long sigh escaped Nick. “She came to me complaining and crying. It’s very disturbing, you know.”

“Oh, really?” Kalix asked indifferently, as if he already knew.

Nick didn’t respond, forcing his composure. Once again, he asked a question he had posed several times before, “So, when will your plan be executed? Honestly, I’m tired of dealing with that girl.”

Kalix looked up, momentarily forgetting his work. He said seriously, “Wait for them to make the first move, this is related to them.”

“Ah, so if they do nothing, you won’t do anything to them?”

“I will still do it. Even just having malicious intent is already a crime.”

No more words were exchanged between them, each lost in their own thoughts.
