“Are you daydreaming?” Kalix’s question sounded sharp and uncompromising.

However, it actually made Chloe feel relieved. She took a deep breath, her mind calm. Offering her sweet smile, she replied, “I’m not dreaming. Such questions are just to make sure.”

There was a crease on Kalix’s forehead, but his eyes focused on her were clearly serious.

With embarrassment, Chloe explained her intention and reason for asking that embarrassing question.

“I was actually considering working in your company, that’s why I asked to ensure I could work honestly.”

Kalix’s expression remained flat, but his eyes hinted at a slight displeasure. He wondered if his reputation was that bad outside.

Realizing she had offended Kalix, Chloe clarified, “Hey, I’m not accusing anyone of cheating or anything, just that there are some chiefs like that, right?”

“I know,” Kalix replied indifferently, Chloe’s words having no impact.
