173. The Rise

That evening, Yvonne made time to have a serious conversation with Yolanda. After dinner, they sat in the living room, enjoying warm tea before bedtime. Yolanda sensed that her daughter had something important to discuss.

“What is it, Yvonne? You must want to talk to me about something,” Yolanda prompted.

Yvonne knew better than to beat around the bush, as Yolanda disliked long-winded discussions. So, Yvonne decided to get straight to the point.

“Glenn Smith wants to meet with you, Mom. He wants to discuss a business collaboration,” Yvonne said.

Yolanda remained silent for a moment, waiting for more details.

“He thinks you’d be a suitable sponsor. He can provide more details if you agree to meet with him,” Yvonne continued.

“The Smith family is above us. Why does he need me? Is that young man trying to mock me? Is he offering a collaboration out of pity or something?” Yolanda replied.
