"Welcome back, Mr Roesli. You truly understand if the world still needs you," Victor Davis greeted with his fake wide smile.

Roesli stared at Victor with his still blurry vision, immediately sensing that the young man in front of him was no better off than he was.

'He can't be trusted; his tongue is forked like a snake,' Roesli thought to himself.

"What do you want?" he asked skeptically.

If the young man in front of him was too naive to think he would welcome his 'good intentions,' then he was not worthy of being valuable in his eyes. He didn't believe in superficial things like that.

For him, naivety and foolishness were one and the same.

"Well, the response I hoped for from you, Mr Roesli. Straight to the point, no beating around the bush, strict to business, right?" Victor, who was standing before, now walked towards the waiting chair and sat there beside Roesli's bed. Roesli's peripheral vision followed the young man's movements.
