Chapter Six: Let Them Insult Me.

Paxton becomes the laughingstock for the guests but for the Marshall family, it is embarrassing! Morgan couldn't help but get mad at Paxton who was giving them a lot of embarrassment tonight. It was a shame to have Paxton as their son-in-law!

Until he couldn't help the humiliation anymore, he grabbed Paxton’s wrist while apologizing to Darius who was still mad. He dragged Paxton all the way to the uncrowded part of the hall.

“You’re such a shame in our family!” Morgan said with gritted teeth. “How could you push Lord Darius? Don't you know he’s one of the most powerful and influential person in this country?!”

Paxton just stood there, silently listening to his father-in-law’s anger. While Lorelei on the other side was trying to stop her father.

“You should’ve let him dance with Lorelei!”

That triggered Paxton. He sighed, “he was about to touch my wife’s bottom. Should I let him do that as well?” Paxton asked, trying to emphasize every word.

Ever since he met this family, he couldn’t deny the fact that they didn’t care much about Lorelei’s feelings. And it angers him! Lorelei was a soft-hearted woman, a loving and considerate daughter. How could they do this to Lorelei?

“You—if it’s not because you got me a deal with Golden Realty, I would not let you be with my daughter! You are a shame to our family!”

Lorelei, couldn't help but wonder how Paxton kept a straight face after all the insults he got tonight. Looking through her husband who was just standing there quietly while her father kept on insulting him, it made Lorelei feel bad for her husband.

“Dad, that’s enough!” Lorelei exclaimed.

“I will stop if he gets out of here and leaves you!” Morgan fired back. “Get the hell out of here, you’re destroying this party. Let Lorelei enjoy the night!”

“Dad, I won't leave without Paxton!”

“I agree, I won't leave Lorelei here, especially now that I know there’s a pervert man lurking around my wife,” Paxton said. He quickly grabbed Lorelei’s hand and turned his back to Morgan who was still fuming mad.

“You bastard! Leave my daughter alone!”

But Paxton continued walking until they reached the exit. Everyone was looking at them because of how Morgan shouted and cursed at Paxton. But all of these insulting words don’t matter to him.

While walking down the stairs, Paxton tapped on his obravo ra-c-cu wireless earbuds that no one noticed because they all insulted his suit. Those people who used their eyes to judge a person, how shameful!

“Get in here, we’re going home,” Paxton said to his driver.

“Yes, Sir!”

On cue, the Bugatti Centodieci parked in front of the hotel. Morgan stopped after seeing the car while Sharon, Lorelei’s mother, gasped in surprise.

“Who’s car was that?” Sharon asked.

“That’s a limited edition Bugatti Centodieci… how?” Morgan still couldn't believe what he was seeing.

It was their first time seeing an expensive car like that! Morgan remembered how fascinated his son, Levi on that car before. But because they couldn’t afford it, they go to a much lower price Bugatti.

Levi who just got out of the hotel stopped walking as soon as he saw the car. Clenching his jaw, he tapped his father’s shoulder.

“Dad, don’t be too surprised, maybe he rented that car.” He said while watching Paxton and Lorelei went inside the car after a man assisted them.

“From who, Levi? It was a limited edition! There were only ten in the world!”

“We don't know, maybe a wealthy Uncle.” Levi laughed but the fact that he was jealous couldn’t hide in the tone of his voice. “Don’t mind them. Soon, Lorelei will get her senses together and divorce that trashy man. After all, he was just her toy boy.”

“Paxton, I couldn't understand you, why does it feel like you don't care about the insult you got from them?” Lorelei asked while they were on the way back to the Villa.

The fact that she couldn’t see any insult in Paxton’s face from earlier, bothered her too much. She used to be their laughingstock but for the past ten years, it was always painful. How come Paxton didn’t show pain in his eyes?

He shrugged and then turned his head to Lorelei. “Because I don't care at all,” he replied.

“What?” Lorelei was still confused. She couldn't understand what was going on. “You became the laughingstock inside the hall!

Now her mind was thinking that Paxton might not be just a simple dermatologist, but a wealthy man who was just humble. He didn't want to brag about his wealth.

Looking back ten years ago, Paxton came from the Cartier family—one of the wealthiest families in the country. But all their wealth had already vanished after the fire incident… So how did he get rich now? Or was she just thinking too much?

When they reached the Villa, everyone greeted them again just like before. Lorelei couldn't help it anymore! She needs to know Paxton’s personal life!

After Paxton closed the door to the house, she took in a deep breath before turning to face him.

“Tell me, are you really just a dermatologist?” Lorelei asked. “Because if you do, why do you have a luxurious villa? Why do you have bodyguards and maidservants who call you ‘My Lord? You’re making me confused, Paxton.”

Paxton stared at her for a moment before he walked towards her. Seeing how calm Paxton was, it’s making Lorelei nervous.

“I own a hospital,” he replied. “Don’t overthink, Lorelei. You don't have to know everything for now.”

“But I am your wife. It hurts that they’re insulting you,” she said, worried.

Paxton touched her cheek and then smiled at her. “Don’t worry about me, babe. Just let them insult me for now.”

He doesn't want to tell Lorelei everything. It isn't the right time for her to know. He needs more time… also, he didn’t know if he could trust Lorelei. It was her family that was involved—her family that she cherished a lot.

After he changed his long-sleeved polo that was still drenched from the wine that Darius splashed on him, he threw it into the trash and looked at the mirror.

Looking through his reflection, he remembered how Darius looked at him with so much disgust. Wearing not-so-fancy clothes was his intention. He doesn't want to look elegant so they won’t suspect his identity. After all, he still needs to hide his real identity from them.

His phone vibrated inside his pocket which made him snap in reality. He took it out and answered the call.

“Son, what’s up with you lately? You haven't visited me for two weeks.” The man behind the other line asked.

“I’m sorry, I’m in the middle of starting my revenge. Just like what I told you,” he replied.

“Hmm, that’s good. Make sure to calculate your every move, I don't want you to lose in this fight. You’ve prepared for ten years, you have to win.”

“Of course, I will…”

Everything has just started. He has to win this fight no matter what. He will do everything just to get the right justice for his family.

“Soon they will know how powerful I am. I will just let them insult me for now.”
