"No, it didn't. She is so different from the Natasha I knew" Matthew added
"Of course, that poor thing changed her into something not any of us can recognize" Sylvester complained to a nodding, Matthew and Mrs. Williams.
"Thank you, Matthew, for at least trying. I will forever remember this" Mrs. Williams said waving Matthew off.
"And ma'am, I did not do this for naught, I had hoped that I and Natasha could work" Matthew corrected"Well, looks like it will not. Still, thank you" Mrs. Williams replied and gestured to Sylvester to walk him out.
"That definitely didn't go as expected" Sylvester noted when he was back.
"Yes, I had other plans in motion should that fail" Mrs. Williams smiled
"I'm curious, what is it?" Sylvester asked
"Do you doubt me, Sylvester?" Mrs. Williams questioned
"No, I have never doubted you" Sylvester jeered
"I took photos of them together" Mrs. Williams answered
"Yes?" Sylvester waited
"You don't get it still, do you?" Mrs. Williams asked
"No, should I?" Sylvester was confused
"You see, it's why when she said she would convince the new company, I did not doubt it. How can you not still get it? I took photos of her and Matthew and sent them to her husband. It's the reason we got Matthew here in the first place, to get her to leave Gonzalez" Mrs. Williams explained
"And if that doesn't work?" Sylvester asked
"It will work but should there be any chance it won't work, I always have a backup plan that would definitely work. You should know me better" Mrs. Williams responded smiling.
Gonzalez was on his way back from work when he received a call from an unknown caller. After he picked and finds out who it was he wished he had not picked it as it was neither than his brother-in-law Sylvester. He hung up as soon as he found out who it was. Why were they all calling him all of a sudden? What did they want? Only then did he remember the messages he had earlier received from Mrs. Williams. He decided to check to see what the photos were about.
They were photos of Natasha, photos of Natasha with her ex, Matthew. He would have doubted it but the position in which they were sitting was terrible, coupled with the fact that she didn't tell him about this particular meeting. He would just pretend he didn't see this.
He got back home just in time for dinner, with Natasha sitting pretty at the table, unsuspecting."So, how did it feel like? Being a C.E.O?" Natasha started
"It felt great, I guess" Gonzalez coldly replied
"You alright? Is it work?" Natasha noted
"No, I'm just thinking" Gonzalez replied
"Did you by any chance meet someone today?" Gonzalez asked
"Uh, no, not really. I just went over to see my mom" Natasha replied
"And after that?" Gonzalez asked, wide-eyed, waiting
"What do you mean by and after that? Of course, it went well, thank you" Natasha smiled uncomfortably
"I'm sorry, just wanted to make sure you're okay" Gonzalez commented
"I really have to go to the mall to get some stuffs" Natasha says
"Are you sure you need it?" Gonzalez inquired
"Yes, I have to go. See you when you get back" Natasha answered and made for the exit.
Truth was she needed to get away from Gonzalez, she had never lied to him before, but she not bring herself to tell him the truth, she didn't know how he would react to that.
She had decided to take a walk when she noticed that someone had been following her since she left the house.
She took a turn to make sure she was being followed. After she confirmed, she had hastened her steps to find out she was too late.
A black cloth was used to cover her face and she was dragged into a waiting car amidst silent screams, yelling and kicking.
(3 hours later)3 hours now, 3 hours! Gonzalez screamed, Natasha was yet to be back home and she could not be reached on the phone.
Initially, it rang but no one was picking. Gonzalez tried calling back but then it was switched off.
Perhaps, he should go to the cops and report it, he thought. No, maybe wait for an hour or so before going to the cops.
One hour later and he could no longer wait, he decided it best to go to the cops.
"Hello officer" Gonzalez starts"Yes, how can I help you?" The cop replied
"Uh, my wife. I haven't been able to reach her on phone. She went to the mall and that was that" Gonzalez answered
"Okay?" The officer said
"I'm wondering if there is anything you can do to help me find her" Gonzalez explained
"Are you insinuating that she might be missing?" The cop asked
"No...not that" Gonzalez muttered
"Good. How long now?" The cop asked
"5 hours" Gonzalez says
"5 hours? Just 5 hours and you're worried?" The cop, wide-eyed asks
"She has never done something like that" Gonzalez explains
"Have you checked with her friends?" The cop asked
"She doesn't have any friends" Gonzalez says
"No way you want me to believe that" The cop jeered and only stopped when he realized Gonzalez was having none of it
"Have you checked with her family?"
"Uh, no. She wouldn't be with her family, she would have told me" Gonzalez answers
"And how can you be so sure?"
"My wife tells me almost everything"
"Almost, eh? You do know she doesn't tell you some things, eh?" The cop asked
"Look piece of advise, there is actually nothing we can do about it now. We can only report a missing person, no, not until after 24 hours. Just go home, pray and wait for her" The cop finished
"Alright, thank you for all your help" Gonzalez mocked and left.
Gonzalez picked up his phone to dial Mrs. Williams but what could he possibly tell her? Better to wait and see."Look piece of advise, there is actually nothing we can do about it now. We can only report a missing person, no, not until after 24 hours. Just go home, pray and wait for her" The cop finished "Alright, thank you for all your help" Gonzalez mocked and left. Gonzalez picked up his phone to dial Mrs. Williams but what could he possibly tell her? Better to wait and see. Gonzalez had slept off on the couch but was awakened by someone shaking him rigorously. "Mrs. Williams!" Gonzalez almost screamed. He was certainly not expecting her. "It is nice to see you too, Gonzalez" Mrs. Williams jeered"I wasn't expecting you" Gonzalez stated "Of course you weren't, how soon you have pushed my daughter to the background" Mrs. Williams said "Excuse me?" A confused Gonzalez had said "I am just wondering how soon you have gone from " we" to "I" yet, you claim to be in love with Natasha" Mrs. Williams explained "How long before you told me? Tell us? My daughter was missing and you didn't thi
"What do these kidnappers want anyways? I have nothing of theirs" "They could be after the money. Or you know this new deal" "The new deal? What about it?" Natasha asks "Well, turns out a lot of people want this partnership deal and will do whatever it takes to take a competition out of the game" "What?" "Yes, it's nothing new. We done that a couple of times, just less dangerous" Mrs. Williams said smiling. "Really mom?" "It's all business, honey." "Can at least call Gonzalez?" Natasha begged "No, dear. The call could be tracked, it's too risky. I am so sorry, but you will see your husband soon" Mrs. Williams assured "You do know I still have to work towards us partnering with G & G right?" Natasha asked "Yes, we will work towards that. Not to forget, you promised me that deal" "I cannot forget that, I will get us that deal, that I am sure of" Natasha assured (Mag's Media Company) "Good morning, ma'am" Carissa started "And what is so good about the morning? Why do I hea
"I know you had said to let you handle this on your own and I respect that but the truth is since the day we found out, I didn't want to let you out of sight so I had people follow you and your wife around..." Mr. Davies explains "Where is she?" Gonzalez interrupted "She has been and is currently at the Williams family residence" Silently and in shock, Gonzalez stands up to his feet. "Are you sure about this information?" He asks turning to Mr. Davies "Sure as anything" Mr. Davies assured "What do you think could have gone wrong? Do you think she is being held against her will?" Gonzalez asked, wanting some form of assuredness that Natasha would not want to run away from him. "I think that she would have made an effort to try to reach you" It is true what they say about love for she will be your biggest weakness and your biggest strength. "What do you suggest I do?" Gonzalez asked, confused "Wait for..." Mr. Davies started "Wait? I know my wife is hiding possibly away from
(The Williams Home) "Ma, I am not comfortable sitting here all day, laying around. It's not going to help me win the contract" Natasha complained "Well, didn't you say you know the CEO of the company?" Mrs. Williams asked "I did say that" Natasha agreed"Then getting this contract should be a walkover for you, right Sylvester?" Mrs. Williams asked turning to Sylvester "I know him doesn't mean I shouldn't work hard for it" Natasha explained "Oh, it's easier then. It's a he" Mrs. Williams admonished smiling "I can take it from here if this is too much for you to handle. I am sure I can get us the contract as well" Sylvester chipped in "What are you all gibbering about when Gonzalez is trending in the news?" Mr. Williams yelled "Why is he trending?" A fearful Natasha asked "For only the wrong reasons of course," Mrs. Williams giggled, tapping her phone "Let me see that," Natasha says and she rushed over to where her mother was "Oh my God, this is not good. I need to see Gonza
(The Gonzalez's Home) "I'm sorry you had to have that encounter with my mum. Terrible as it is, I must admit that she isn't the best mother. I am ashamed to admit that I never thought of it like that, I had no idea I was being fooled, I easily believed anything that I was told" Natasha admitted "Honey, I have told you times without a number to stop apologizing. She is your mother, how were you supposed to know? I wouldn't know too, I mean Id didn't know until she visited me. Mr. Davies confirmed it" Gonzalez replied "Mr. Davies? Who is he?" Natasha inquired "Oh, my boss at the new company. See, then out he has eyes all around the city" Gonzalez explained "And should we not be scared?" Natasha asked, worried "Sacred? No" "You can't be so sure about someone who has eyes all over the city" Natasha warned "I promise you, he is not like that. We are Gonzalez assured, trying to encourage Natasha and avoid negative thoughts "Speaking of which, how is work going? And what's it with a
Gonzalez's pov “Finally, it is the weekend,” I said giggling and excited about it. One of the most amazing things about my new job is that I get to have the weekend to myself, this was not the same with all the other places I have worked. I never had free time, no, not since I lost my parents. I worked from dawn to dusk, approximately 15 hours a day, Monday to Sunday with no rest.I am grateful for Mr. Davies as he seems to be very understanding. He had paid me yesterday and said I had the weekend to myself. I have never been so unbothered about my job or its pay, this was going to be a long run. I would work here for as many months as he wanted me to work until we can get to the root of this. One thing I have learned in life is, good things never last.Almost immediately, I felt guilty. I have been so excited about the new job that I seem to not have thought about my parents enough or used the extra time to fulfilling the promise I had made to find and avenge their killer. Believe
Mrs. Williams pov(Throwback)55 years ago, a little girl watched her mom struggle to get on from day to day. Her father died when she was just one, leaving her mother with two kids to raise. Whatever she did, people never saw the hood, no one wanted to marry a “half-woman” as they called single mothers then. Securing even a place to stay was as tiring as birthing a child. “Ma’am, we can’t let a single woman with no husband and two kids stay here. It can bring a lot of trouble, what happened to your husband?” They thought she was one of those loose women out there. Her mother breathed pain, lived in misery, and died unhappily. Even though the world has gotten better than it was then, single mothers are still stigmatized daily. Her daughter doesn’t tell her but she knows, she sees it in her eyes; carrying a bump around with no man to show. This was why she was concerned, she did not want her daughter to experience or live as her mom did. She wanted her to be accepted by society and b
Gonzalez's povThe lady I met who I would find out later, was Eloise. She had forgotten her phone at the food restaurant we met at, she must have been so overtaken by our discussions to not remember her phone when leaving. I knew I left a good impression on her for I was a boss and master at first impressions. I had been bothered about how to reach her on the phone until a call came in and she told me that she was the one who was trying to look for her phone."It is nice to meet you, again," she said when we met at an agreed location"Yes, again" I agreed to nod. She even looked more beautiful and radiant than I remembered. I was taking my time as I did not want her to see me as desperate or like the other men she must be familiar with.We had taken the time to talk for a few minutes before she said she had work she needed to attend to"I hope I see you again," she said to me beaming with smiles. God, she had the most beautiful smile, not just beautiful but enchanting too."Yes, you w
