30 - Collateral Damage

Simon never left his sight at the man who was slumped on the floor. Blood had started to pool in the floor while the man was trying to get away. He was trying to crawl away from where Simon stood while his hands were cradling his abdomen. Simon guessed he hit the man in the abdominal area.

Securing that his gun was pointing at the man, Simon approached him with calculated steps. He saw his gun on the floor and immediately went to get it for safety.

“Who sent you?” Simon asked, his voice was stern.

He had to remind himself that there was another man in the house and it was heavily armed with weapons. He had to make sure it would be taken care of.

The wounded man let out an annoying chuckle. He has his face covered with masks and he wore a baseball cap to conceal his identity.

“You shouldn’t have stuck your nose into that old case. Your mother is dead, whether you give justice to her death, it will be useless. She’s not coming back to life.”
