Janus’ hands were shaking as he maneuvered the car. It was not just his hands that were shaking, his whole body was going to convulse in fear.

What he just saw literally blew out his mind.

When Simo told him to keep his eyes on Alberto Torres, he really meant to do that job. He was even eavesdropping whenever he heard the Spanish billionaire talking on the phone.

He snuck inside the dilapidated building minutes after Torres went in. He knew that something wasn't right and he had to see it first hand.

Imagine his shock when he saw a fully beaten Cash lying on the floor. When Torres arrived, he himself beat the life out of Cash.

He witnessed how the man begged for his life, he even kneeled in front of Torres, but he just laughed at Cash’s efforts.

He can’t hear what they were talking about, but Janus suspected it was about the painting. Or maybe it was about the bag of jewelry that he retrieved from Cash.

When Torres ordered his death, Janus knew at that moment that he was not de

If those people outside wanted to eliminate him, then they had to come inside his apartment and they could try. “C’mon, you fucking bastards,” he whispered as he pointed the gun on the door. The loud banging was still on, and he just hoped someone would notice these men, and would call the cops. He glanced at the space in his apartment room. It’s a small space with minimal windows. He personally chose this room with the thought that the less window he has, the more he’s going to be safe. But, he realized it’s a wrong move. His room is in the second floor, and if he’s going to jump now, chances are, his going to endure a fractured legs. “Fractured is better than dead.” He shook his head and went to the nearest window. He checked if there were some outlookers, but there were none. “Shit, it’s too high,” he cursed when he realized he couldn't jump from the second floor. He’s not just

On the way to the mansion, Simon was silent the whole time. He was in deep thought as to whether he’ll tell Federico that he was alive or not. Many questions and scenarios were running in his mind when Janus pulled to a stop. Simon was ripped out from his thoughts when he noticed that they had already arrived at the premises of the mansion. “Where to? I know we can’t go directly into that gate.” Janus pointed the gate that stood a few meters away from them. Simon let out a sigh, and in that instant he decided. “I’m go to the back.” He opened the door of the car and started to walk to the woods. He had in his hand the small bag where the painting was safely tucked inside. Janus caught up with him. “Hey, wait up, Slow down, will you.” Simon halted and faced Janus with a frown in his face. “What are you doing?” Janus looked at Simon like he just asked him the dumbest question ever asked. “What am I doing? I am going with you inside that mansion.” Janus gestured to the huge mansio

Simon held his breath as he waited for Torres to speak. He’s been dreading to hear what he has to say about the painting. Simon wanted to ask why he wanted it so much that he could take a life just to have it. Of course, Simon knows he can't do that directly to Torres, so he’ll have to settle for eavesdropping on the conversation. “It’s a surprise, Alberto. I wasn’t expecting you to come today. I thought you’ll be in Spain next week.” Federico spoke in a calm and collective voice. Simon couldn’t even find tension from his voice. Federico hid it well. “Simo, are we just going to listen to their conversation?” Janus whispered beside him. He glared at his friend. He already told him to shut his mouth up. It was a good thing the door was slightly ajar, making it easy for them to hear the conversation from the inside. ‘“Well, I decided to pay you a visit before I leave for Spain.” “Why, I am flattered,” Federico replied playfully. There must be a reason why Torres suddenly visited

Federico stared at Alberto Torres as he paced back and forth in front of him. He looked tense as he kept on glancing on the empty space of where the painting was placed before. He knew exactly why he was here. Alberto needed to see for himself that the painting was really gone. Though Federico never told even one soul that the painting was stolen, he knew Alberto’s connection told him. “You seem bothered, Alberto. Is anything alright?” He feigned concern. Federico will not fall for his drama. The man approached him solely because he’s interested in the painting. Alberto halted, he gave Federico a taut smile and shook his head. “I’m sorry, it was just work and my wife. You know, women can sometimes be a pain in the ass.” He chuckled. “Well, I can’t argue with that, though I was never married, but the women I’ve been with are natural in that department.” They both chuckled. Alberto went to sit on the couch. He took a sip from his glass, his eyes were glued on the wall, the one whe

  • Revenge of the Secret Heir   Half Truth

Simon was able to breathe when Alberto Torres left the mansion without so much of a drama. He had listened to the conversation, and it irked him that Federico had to give away information like that to the likes of Torres. But Simon also understands that Federico was simply fishing out for any reaction from the man. And as Simon saw, Torres was bothered as hell now that the painting was nowhere to be found. A part of him wanted to laugh that he had the upper hand at this point, and he will make sure he will always have the upper hand to this game that they started. “He left already.” Simon nodded at Janus. “Stay here, I won’t be long,” he told him as he turned the knob of the office door. Federico was still sitting behind the mahogany table that his father used to use before he died. His grim expression morphed into something when Federico saw Simon. Simon wore his black cap but he removed the mask when he entered the office. “Salvatorre,” Federico called him out. Automaticall

They sat around the table, their eyes were focused on the painting that was laid at the center of it. After Federico explained everything he knew to him, Simon decided at that instant that he would find the truth about the painting. If what Federico told him was tru, then he has to find where that treasure is. He knew he needed that treasure to build his own empire, the one that would dominate in the entire underworld. With the amount of money that he could get, Simon was sure as hell that he become invincible and powerful if that would be in his hands. Federico glanced at the men sitting with him. Simon called another two men to join them in this secret meeting. The two men were strangers to him, but he trusted Simon that these men were trustworthy. “Salvatorre, are you sure about this?” Federico was a little bit skeptical when Simon declared that he would do anything to find the treasure. Much to Federico’s dismay, Simon didn’t approve of his offer to stay in the mansion. Technically, Simon was still the owner of the mansion, and he was just a mere caretaker of it since he disappeared. “Are you sure?” Federico still doesn’t approve of Simon’s decision to rent a place for him to stay. “I don’t want people to know I’m still alive. Simon had been very careful no one would notice him. He’s been in the mansion a couple of time, and as always, he uses the entance at the back to enter the house. The ride going to the airport was long and heart-stopping. The driver did his very best to dodge the cars that were tailing them, but it was a futile attempt. The chase was rough, though those cars did nothing but chase them, it was still rough. “Damn those bastards. What do they want? They just chased us like it was fun for them.” Ryzen shook his head as he looked at the rearview mirror. The driver of the cab did a good job of keeping them at a distance. “Don’t mind them. We will arrive at the airport in less than five minutes now. Be ready. We need to run fast as soon as this cab stops at the entrance of the airport.” Simon instructed them what to do the moment they arrived. “What? Run? But what if these men have guns? I am sure they were the ones who visited us. Damn, these Chinese gangsters!” Silence took over as they sped their way in the street. The night was ripe, it was already ten in the evening, and the streets were packed with people. Addison keeps on looking at the

Addison shook her head. “No. There’s no way I am going with those guys, Simon.” She took a step back, it was an act of self-preservation. Federico took a step forward in front of Addison. His hands were ready to draw guns that were hidden behind his jeans. He’s always prepared when a time like this arises. “I already talked to Black Scar, and I will talk to him again. You can’t just drag my girlfriend out of here.” Simon calmly suggests. His calm demeanor was much more scary than those men with high-powered guns. He smiled politely at those people. “I suggest that you go back now. I will call him to negotiate. Please, I don’t want any ruckus in here.” He said again, this time he was smiling. Addison swallowed an invisible lump from her throat. This was her fault. If she wasn’t so stubborn enough, this wouldn’t have happened. Now some Asian gangst

What does he want from you?” Addison shifted from her seat. For some reason she couldn’t understand, she had a feeling that this was not going to be a good night for all of them. He guts told her so, and it was never wrong before. “Well?” Federico raised an eyebrow at Simon. Simon looked at them one by one before he released a heavy sigh and massaged his temple. That action alone indicated that something was wrong. “Am I in trouble, Simon?” Addie’s chest pounded hard. Are those men coming after them now? Before Simon could even answer them they heard a loud banging on the doer. Not a simple knock, but an urgent banging that’s demanding. “Who the hell is that?” Ryzen got to his feet and went to open the door. “Wait! Don’t open

Addison just rolled her eyes and shrugged off Simon’s hand. “You know I’m fine because you had someone following us.” She sat on the sofa, crossed her arms in front and raised an eyebrow at Simon. Both Ryzen and Federico turned their heads to Simon who nonchalantly puffed smoke from his mouth. “Damn!” Simon gave in. “Okay, I had them tailed you. What am I supposed to do? Simon preferred to rent a home than stay in a hotel. Ryzen shrugged his shoulder, ignoring Federico’s worries. Right, Ryzen?” Simon and Federico both turned their heads to look at Ryzen. “Of course!” Ryzen yelled out in panic and followed it with a laugh. “You can trust me on this.” He assured them, confidence was laced in his voice. Federico wasn't sure about this one. He was damn worried, but he knew he can’t do anything about it if that’s what Addison wanted. Addison wanted to explore Hong Kong and she requested that she would go by herself. Federico and Simon said no, and told her that it would be too dangerous for her to go alone, especially in a place that she’s not familiar with.

Thinking about her heart suddenly felt heavy. That huge man who helped her never made it out. He was one of Mancini’s most trusted personnel but he was so kind that he helped her. Regret and guilt consumed her. “Hey…” Federico came with a cup of hot coffee in his hand. “You wouldn’t mind if I joined you, right?” He looked fresh with his hair combed to the side and had a bright smile plastered on his face. Addison smiled at him. “No, not at all. Come.” She gestured to the empty seat in front of her. Simon was still recovering from his stab wound and Addison had the
