Unexpected Visitor

A silent thud woke Simon up from his slumber. His automatic reaction was to grab the gun tucked beneath his pillows. After he acquired that gun, he made it a point to always keep it near him especially if he’s asleep. Angela didn’t know that he’s armed, she might be horrified if she did.

Moving so slowly, Simon got out of bed. He made sure he's going to make some noise.

Someone was inside the house, he's sure of it. He may be asleep but he knew the thud he heard was not something to take for granted.

With a gun in hand, he listened to any noise outside his bedroom, and there's none.

He took a deep breath and turned the doorknob, he did it very carefully to avoid making any sound.

Angela's room was closed, and the dimly lit living room looked normal.

''Fuck, it must be a dream,'' Simon uttered to himself.

He rubbed his face with his palm. He was getting antsy lately. It must be the stress and all.
