Proposal

Lord Tyrell sat on the far end of the long table while Damien was on the other end. Ash moved his plates to his side and served as their referee when things heat up. The girl then stationed herself beside Lord Tyrell.

The dining hall was very silent. The two didn't know who should start eating. Ash cleared her throat. “Please, Master Damien, dig in.” Someone had to say it.

Damien said nothing and took his spoon and fork. He weighed the utensil in his hand and realized how heavy they were. He then starts eating his breakfast, and his father follows.

Ash could feel the awkwardness between the two. She crossed her arms across her chest and leaned against the window while watching the two eat. Now, it would be interesting who would be the first one to break the tension.

She waited and waited, but there was not a single word being shared between the two. They finished their meals and have not yet said a single thing to each other. She was about to break the ice, when all of a sudden, thank goodness– Lord Tyrell speaks.

“How was the food? Is it to your liking?”

Damien looked at him and shrugged. “I’m not used to eating these. They’re good, I will admit.”

Lord Tyrell smiled gently hearing that he enjoyed the meal prepared for him. “That’s good.”

“So…” Damien didn’t want the conversation to last any longer. “...are we going to talk about the fact that Ash, here,” he glanced at the smirking girl behind his father. “...abducted me?”

Ash rolled her eyes and chuckled before shaking her head.

“Did she hurt you?” Lord Tyrell raised an eyebrow and glanced behind him. Ash quickly gets rid of her smirk and stands straight.

Damien looked at her and Ash shook her head. “No. She didn’t. but I would’ve appreciated it more if she didn’t put a sack on my head.”

Ash lowered her head as Tyrell sighed at her. “I am sorry, son. You see, Ash’s methods are quite extreme.”

“For a girl, indeed she is. Is she your bodyguard?”

“Yes.” Tyrell confirmed. “But now, she is yours.”

Damien raised an eyebrow. “My bodyguard? Why would I even need a bodyguard? I don't think I am in danger.”

“You will not be in danger, but you are my son,” Tyrell replied. “I didn’t want to reach out to you for a very long time because I was afraid that my presence would implicate your life. However, I heard that you barged into the Coltons’ marriage banquet and gave yourself quite a reputation.”

“Why does that even matter to you?” Damien gritted his teeth.  “Since when the hell did you even care?”

Tyrell pursed his lips and closed his eyes, then breathed. “Son, I know I have a lot of things to make up for you. I just want you to know that there are reasons why I left you to the nuns.”

“What reasons?” Damien stood up and slammed his hand across the table. Ash steps closer to Tyrell, while putting her hand on her belt where her special revolver sits.

“Are you busy making yourself rich?!”

“Watch your mouth, Master.” Ash gritted her teeth and spoke. She knew how softhearted Lord Tyrell was when it comes to his family, so she had to step in for hs sake. “I think it is best if you hear your father out.”

“Hear this man out?” Damien shook his head repeatedly, clearly done with everything that happened in his life. “I lived in poverty, I was bullied for not having parents and even more because of my shitty eyesight! I tried to look for my parents but none of you gave a damn! I worked my arse off college and missed my chance to become a child or a teenager and have friends. As soon as the orphanage burned down when I was ten, I was forced to become an adult!”

“And yet you’re here… watching over me. But you never lent a hand?” he palmed his face, stressfully. “And now… the only girl who I looked forward to seeing… the only woman whom I lived for, cheated on me with another wealthy man.”

“I’ve been living my life in misery, Ash. Now, how can tell me to just listen? With everything built up inside me… do you think listening to this man will ever make me feel any better?”

“No. It won’t make you feel any better, Master.” Ash replied. “Nor will your broken relationship will get fixed. However, I can assure you one thing. If you gave Lord Tyrell a chance to explain what he has in store for you, it will help you achieve the justice you deserve.”

Ash’s azure eyes squinted at him. “Do you want vengeance, Master Damien? Or would you like to rot in the same hellhole forever with everyone laughing at you? Do you want people to continue calling you a four-eyed, nerdy, dork?”

Damien gnashed his jaw, “Hell no.”

“Then sit.” she crossed her arms. “And zip your mouth.”

“Tch.”

Ash leaned closer to Tyrell and whispered. “I think it is time, Lord Tyrell. Tell him.”

Tyrell heaved a sigh and looked at his son.

“Damien… I know we have not known for a very long time, and I do not expect you to forgive me for abandoning you. I lacked so much, that this time, I am left with no choice but to fill those gaps by offering everything I have so that one day, I can become a father in your eyes.”

“What do you want from me? What can you possibly do to help me?”

“You’re my only child. My son. My only bloodline. Everything that I own is yours.” Tyrell said.

Damien stared back and then glanced at Ash, but she merely took a step back as if not wanting to involve herself with his decision.

“I own a two-faced company. One legitimate, and one immorally backed up by the government. These are dangerous positions, but I am confident you can do them.”

Tyrell relaxed his back on his chair and looked at Damien straight in the eyes.

“Do you want to become the CEO of Blackwell Tech as well as the boss of the Black Vigilantes?”
