Amber was so shocked at Maeve’s words that she nearly spat out the drink that was already halfway down her stomach. Carefully putting the drink down so she didn't tip it over, she looked at Maeve. “Honestly, I don't know if I should be annoyed or marveling at your guts. What makes you think that I had anything to do with your sister or the fact that we're connected?”

“For one, I'm not some dumb bimbo that you can try to run tracks around…I know she was coming to see you the night that she disappeared. It didn't take much for me to connect the dots.”

Amber sat up, shocked once again. “Wait, what do you mean by ‘disappeared’?”

“Exactly as it sounds,” Maeve said. “Two nights ago, my sister was supposed to meet you wasn't she?”

“How did you know that?” Amber asked warily.

I've known for a while that she was doing something illegal or fishy that didn't sit well with me, and your name was always at the center of it.” Maeve rambled. “I saw your name on her phone.”
