Mr. Felix Drummond, Jake’s father, went down from the balcony and walked to the center of the ring. Jake started to take off his shoes and shirt, then he put on the grappling gloves from the bag his sister gave to him.
“Are you sure about this, Jake?” his father asked him while looking at his eyes. “Look at that man on the floor. His nose was shattered like glass, and who knows if he’s going to wake up. Do you really want to end up like him?”
“Enough talking,” Jake responded while strapping his gloves. “I also want to know if I will end up like that so, get the hell out of there and watch.”
Mr. Drummond smirked and glared at him. “Okay, then. You may rest in peace after this.”
The old man asked for a microphone then he faced the people around the octagon.
“Tonight is a special night! You’ll all witness a one of a kind performance from my son Sebastian,” he said to the audience. Now, Tell me! Who wants to see blood?!”
The place was suddenly filled with the people’s roar.
“Okay then. Anyone who will bet on this guy on my left,” then he pointed at Jake. “...will have 50x his bet if he wins. So, choose your fighters carefully. Enjoy the fight, everyone!” He tossed the mic on the floor and it created a short feedback sound.
“I’ll be preparing for your funeral, son,” Mr. Drummond said to Jake.
“You better prepare my chair as the CEO, because that’s what I want when I beat your favorite monster,” he responded. He removed the Aetherlock on his finger and put it in his pocket.
“We’ll see that.”
The old man exited the octagon and headed directly to the balcony to watch the approaching fight. Then two enormous men in black fitting sweatshirts entered the arena and dragged the unconscious man out, leaving blood streaks on the ring.
The referee entered the ring and declared that there would be no rules in the upcoming fight and that the winner would be determined when the opponent could no longer fight or died. Then people’s uproar filled the air.
“I’ll definitely enjoy this, step-brother!” Sebastian said. He stretched his back and neck, and cracked his knuckles.
“Me too. Don’t worry,” he sniggered.
“All right! Are you two ready?!” the referee shouted in the middle of them. Both men nodded their heads. “Okay! Let the fight begin!”
Sebastian dashed towards Jake right after the bell rang. He was so agile despite his size and height and was able to throw two full tilt punches. Jake was able to dodge the first one but the second one grazed his right cheek and that left a mark.
Again, the entire place was filled with roars.
“Woah! Not bad,” Sebastian snickered. “You’re the first one to dodge those punches.”
“Well, those are scary ones. Want to try again?” Jake replied.
“Jerk!”
Sebastian launched another attack. He used his legs this time. He delivered a powerful roundhouse to Jake's midsection. Jake was able to block it with his elbow, but it was quickly followed by a swift back kick and a push kick, and all of which hit him in the stomach at the same time.
Jake fell on his right knee clenching his jaw and holding his stomach. The people roared once again.
“You think you’re fast enough?” Sebastian asked, then laughed. “Pathetic! I’ll finish this fight now!.”
Sebastian was ready to deliver a piercing side kick to Jake's temple when he noticed Jake had vanished in front of him. His eyes grew big. He turned around to see where Jake had gone when a strong punch landed squarely on his nose. That knocked him down and caused his body to bounce twice on the canvas.
And screams filled the whole place after that. Showing how many people had placed their bet on Jake.
“Can you still stand up?” Jake was grinning while asking Sebastian. “Stitches won’t be enough for that. You’ll be needing plastic surgery to fix that nose.”
Sebastian slowly stood up. Blood from his broken nose was dripping heavily.
“How did you learn to punch that way?” he asked Jake while huffing.
Jake stretched his neck and sneered at the man in front of him. “Well, I learned that from a place far far away from here. Now, if you may, should we continue?” Then he looked at his dad and smiled.
He put up a fighting pose. His right foot is in front while his left was ready to take his weight if necessary. He had his left palm open in front of him, while his right fist was tucked into his waist, ready to fire at any moment.
Sebastian then fixed his feet on the canvas and wiped the blood on his nose. “That's a very common fighting pose, and a very weak one. You were just lucky. This time, I will end this properly.
Jake held his ground as he watched Sebastian rushing towards him. He sensed an impending strike from his right and was correct. He deflected the punch with his left hand, then grabbed the puncher's arm and yanked him to the left. And when he saw an opening, he punched Sebastian on the face.
But his assault did not stop there. He struck Sebastian's falling head with an uppercut, causing it to snap upwards. Then he smacked him in the face with swift, forceful, and numerous punches. And the sound of each punch could be heard throughout the place.
And for his final attack, he took a step forward and pushed Sebastian on the chest with all his might. Sebastian flew against the cage and the force from that created a dent on the cage. Sebastians fell on the canvas face first, and unconscious.
The place was filled with silence and disbelief.
And while staring at him, his father's jaw fell, and the glass the old man was holding was abruptly dropped and broke into pieces on the floor.
The referee checked Sebastian's condition. And when he signaled that the knocked out fighter couldn’t fight anymore, the crown erupted.
Jake raised his hands, and looked at his dad. Then he requested for the microphone.
“From now on, you’ll have a new champ!” he shouted, which made the place filled with screams of cheers. “And dad, I guess we have to talk now.” Then he dropped the mic and exited the ring. He picked up the bag amid the crowd of people and made his way to the balcony where his father stood.
“That was an impressive fight,” Mr. Drummond said to Jake. “But we can’t discuss matters here. Follow me.”Jake remained silent. The body guards followed him as he walked after his grandfather. He was led to a massive metal door. And nobody would ever believe that such a place existed within the shabby bar. His father pushed the door and the smell coming out of the room made him cover his nose. He was not a fan of strong disinfectant and drugs. He entered the room then the doors were shut by the bodyguards.“What is this place?” Jake asked as he looked around. There were a lot of sample tubes, beakers, microscopes, and machines he was not really familiar with in the room. There were also some huge glass jars containing skin of species he didn't know and some internal organs.“This is a secret laboratory of my company. Secret experiments are done here by my carefully selected people and pharmaceutical scientists,” the old man replied. “And this is one of the places that you would tak
Five hours had passed since the kidnapper called them.“What are we going to do?!” Mr. Drummond demanded an answer from Jake. “Time is ticking! Who knows what that man is doing to Caroline, now!”Jake looked at his father then he walked towards the small table where the whiskey was on. “I know, and I am worried, too. But panicking won’t help! They need something from us, so they won’t kill her.”“How sure are you?!” his father shouted. The old man then sagged on a swiveling chair, grasping his head with two hands. “You know how much I love your sister.”He sighed and looked at his father. He couldn't remember his father ever being like that for him. He grimaced and poured whisky into a glass, recalling painful memories with his father. He was ready to drink when his father's phone rang. It was from Caroline's phone. His father made a troubled face before answering the call. He gave his father the go-ahead and asked him to turn the phone to loudspeaker, which the old man did.“Hello,”
Gunfires, screams, and laughter of the gangsters echoed in the whole place. They kept shooting until they emptied all of their magazines. But right after that, they’re eyes grew big as Jake was still standing, smiling at the man in front of him and all of the bullets just stopped before hitting his body.“Is that it?” Jake smirked. “Is that all you got?The bullets around him dropped one by one, making a sound similar to a wind chime being blown by a strong wind. “W-What are you?!” the man asked with heavy breathing and watery eyes. He still couldn’t move even his fingers.“I told you. I am the one sent by Mr. Drummond,” Jake answered. Then he moved his index finger, and the man's arm, which was holding the gun, moved on its own and dropped the gun on the floor.“Nice to meet you, David.”“H-How did you know my name?”Jake smiled as he looked at the man in the eyes. “I heard Anthony call you that name in your memory.”“You’re not human. What are you?!”“You’ll not believe me even if
Jake was instantly teleported in front of his father's laboratory. Then David's unconscious body dropped to the floor. He snapped his fingers and the guards he had left there woke up. They swiftly rose up, drew their firearms, and pointed them at him.“Don’t move!” said one of the bodyguards.with top knot hair. Jake looked at the man then sighed. “Relax. I’m not moving. I want to raise my hands but as you see, I have my sister on my back.” “How did you do that?” the man asked. He tightened his grip on his gun. Jake looked around. There were seven of them, including the one at whom he threw the scissors. He didn't count them before he left, but he should be prepared in case they don't listen to him. “We all saw it!” the man continued. “With clapping your hands, you closed and locked the door. Then you put us to sleep after you snapped your fingers. Jake's jaws dropped, but he quickly replaced it with a smile. He didn't think an ordinary person could be that observant. Usually, w
That day concluded with Jake learning everything about his father and the Smithsons Pharmaceutical Company. He found that his father had a deal with the Smithsons to smuggle pharmaceuticals and formulae from other countries. However, Anthony Smith betrayed them after the deal was exposed to the public. His father, on the other hand, made it through the tough situation and took all of the revenue. Right after that, Anthony's father died of heart failure. And, for sure, Anthony Smith would not stop until he gets revenge for his father's death. But it was the sigils he saw before David died that bothered him the most. Because even in Eldramoria, only very few mages can wield that kind of magic. After making sure that his sister was okay, he went home and had a very good sleep. He suddenly felt drained and he didn’t even notice that he slept for almost the whole day. And it was already dark again when he woke up. Jake stretched his arms upward while yawning. “My magic energy is still no
“Why were you there? How did you know that there will be an encounter in that place?” Jake questioned Mabelle as he stirred his coffee. “I have my assets. They tell me where there is a scoop, and by chance, that time, it was about the operation of the gang that you encountered. And I saw everything that happened,” the woman replied.Jake exhaled and stretched his neck from left to right. Then he sighed loudly. “Alright. I don't have any choice but to believe that, do I? Now, what about your brother?”The woman looked down at her hands, which were on her lap. Her eyes began to well up with tears. “My younger brother used to work for the Smithsons Pharmaceutical Company. He was an all around employee working for the CEO. But then, he discovered a secret deal concerning an illegal enhancement drug. And he was hunted because of that,” Mabelle narrated. “They thought he would expose that to the public.”“Then what does that have to do with magic?”Mabelle looked him in the eyes. "I saw
The following day, after lunch, Drummond Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Corporation held a press conference and named Jake as the company's new CEO. And that got mixed reactions from the employees and the public. “A press con, seriously?” Sebastian asked after slamming his fist into the table in front of him. “Is Jake that special, huh?” He faced Mr. Drummond. “You used to hate him a lot!”“You better calm down, boy.” Mr. Drummond calmly said. “Remember if it wasn’t for him, you’d be on the streets now.”“After what I’ve done for the company? You’ll abandon me like this?” Jake smirked and that got Sebastian’s attention. He looked daggers at Jake while clenching his fists. “You didn’t do anything for the company and you know that,” Jake said looking straight at Sebastian.“What? Me? Didn’t do anything?! What do you know?!” Sebastian yelled back.Jake took out an attache case and pulled out several files from there. Then he slammed all of it on the table. Sebastian looked at Jake befor
Jake told his bodyguards to stay in the car and wait for his orders. Then he asked Sebastian to go with him inside the building.“Your face tells me that something is wrong,” Sebastian said as they both went up the stairs to the entrance of the building. “You look in pain.”“Just ignore me,” Jake replied. “But you have to watch out.”“For what?”“Just prepare yourself,” Jake responded immediately, then came to a halt when he reached the front of the rotating door. “Something is coming, that I can’t tell as of now.” Then he continued to enter the building.Sebastian simply shook his head and stared at Jake's back with an open
