Chapter 5

Mr. Felix Drummond, Jake’s father, went down from the balcony and walked to the center of the ring. Jake started to take off his shoes and shirt, then he put on the grappling gloves from the bag his sister gave to him.

“Are you sure about this, Jake?” his father asked him while looking at his eyes. “Look at that man on the floor. His nose was shattered like glass, and who knows if he’s going to wake up. Do you really want to end up like him?”

“Enough talking,” Jake responded while strapping his gloves. “I also want to know if I will end up like that so, get the hell out of there and watch.”

Mr. Drummond smirked and glared at him. “Okay, then. You may rest in peace after this.”

The old man asked for a microphone then he faced the people around the octagon.

“Tonight is a special night! You’ll all witness a one of a kind performance from my son Sebastian,” he said to the audience. Now, Tell me! Who wants to see blood?!”

The place was suddenly filled with the people’s roar.

“Okay then. Anyone who will bet on this guy on my left,” then he pointed at Jake. “...will have 50x his bet if he wins. So, choose your fighters carefully. Enjoy the fight, everyone!” He tossed the mic on the floor and it created a short feedback sound.

“I’ll be preparing for your funeral, son,” Mr. Drummond said to Jake.

“You better prepare my chair as the CEO, because that’s what I want when I beat your favorite monster,” he responded. He removed the Aetherlock on his finger and put it in his pocket.

“We’ll see that.”

The old man exited the octagon and headed directly to the balcony to watch the approaching fight. Then two enormous men in black fitting sweatshirts entered the arena and dragged the unconscious man out, leaving blood streaks on the ring.

The referee entered the ring and declared that there would be no rules in the upcoming fight and that the winner would be determined when the opponent could no longer fight or died. Then people’s uproar filled the air.

“I’ll definitely enjoy this, step-brother!” Sebastian said. He stretched his back and neck, and cracked his knuckles.

“Me too. Don’t worry,” he sniggered.

“All right! Are you two ready?!” the referee shouted in the middle of them. Both men nodded their heads. “Okay! Let the fight begin!”

Sebastian dashed towards Jake right after the bell rang. He was so agile despite his size and height and was able to throw two full tilt punches. Jake was able to dodge the first one but the second one grazed his right cheek and that left a mark.

Again, the entire place was filled with roars.

“Woah! Not bad,” Sebastian snickered. “You’re the first one to dodge those punches.”

“Well, those are scary ones. Want to try again?” Jake replied.

“Jerk!”

Sebastian launched another attack. He used his legs this time. He delivered a powerful roundhouse to Jake's midsection. Jake was able to block it with his elbow, but it was quickly followed by a swift back kick and a push kick, and all of which hit him in the stomach at the same time.

Jake fell on his right knee clenching his jaw and holding his stomach. The people roared once again.

“You think you’re fast enough?” Sebastian asked, then laughed. “Pathetic! I’ll finish this fight now!.”

Sebastian was ready to deliver a piercing side kick to Jake's temple when he noticed Jake had vanished in front of him. His eyes grew big. He turned around to see where Jake had gone when a strong punch landed squarely on his nose. That knocked him down and caused his body to bounce twice on the canvas.

And screams filled the whole place after that. Showing how many people had placed their bet on Jake.

“Can you still stand up?” Jake was grinning while asking Sebastian. “Stitches won’t be enough for that. You’ll be needing plastic surgery to fix that nose.”

Sebastian slowly stood up. Blood from his broken nose was dripping heavily.

“How did you learn to punch that way?” he asked Jake while huffing.

Jake stretched his neck and sneered at the man in front of him. “Well, I learned that from a place far far away from here. Now, if you may, should we continue?” Then he looked at his dad and smiled.

He put up a fighting pose. His right foot is in front while his left was ready to take his weight if necessary. He had his left palm open in front of him, while his right fist was tucked into his waist, ready to fire at any moment.

Sebastian then fixed his feet on the canvas and wiped the blood on his nose. “That's a very common fighting pose, and a very weak one. You were just lucky. This time, I will end this properly.

Jake held his ground as he watched Sebastian rushing towards him. He sensed an impending strike from his right and was correct. He deflected the punch with his left hand, then grabbed the puncher's arm and yanked him to the left.  And when he saw an opening, he punched Sebastian on the face.

But his assault did not stop there. He struck Sebastian's falling head with an uppercut, causing it to snap upwards. Then he smacked him in the face with swift, forceful, and numerous punches. And the sound of each punch could be heard throughout the place.

And for his final attack, he took a step forward and pushed Sebastian on the chest with all his might. Sebastian flew against the cage and the force from that created a dent on the cage. Sebastians fell on the canvas face first, and unconscious.

The place was filled with silence and disbelief.

And while staring at him, his father's jaw fell, and the glass the old man was holding was abruptly dropped and broke into pieces on the floor.

The referee checked Sebastian's condition. And when he signaled that the knocked out fighter couldn’t fight anymore, the crown erupted.

Jake raised his hands, and looked at his dad. Then he requested for the microphone.

“From now on, you’ll have a new champ!” he shouted, which made the place filled with screams of cheers. “And dad, I guess we have to talk now.” Then he dropped the mic and exited the ring. He picked up the bag amid the crowd of people and made his way to the balcony where his father stood.
