They arrived at the island in a few hours.

“My darling!” Janae’s mother rushed to the car as Richard pulled it to a stop. She quickly opened the door and immediately Janae stepped out, she hugged her tight.

“We were all scared…” her voice trembled as she tightened her arms around her daughter. She pulled away and stared at Janae’s face.

Her mouth fell and her heart ached when she noticed the marks on Janae’s face. “He- he did this to you?”

Janae pressed her lips together and nodded.

“Oh my..” Tears began to well up in her eyes and she cupped Janae’s face in her hand, wiping her finger on the marks. “I’m sorry you had to go through that…”

“I’m going to rip that bastard in shreds,” Sir Vester stomped his leg in anger.

Collin, Daniel and the others were also present. Everyone was relieved that Janae was back in one piece.

“You guys, Richard saved me,” Janae says, turning to the side to look at Richard, before raising her brows at Collin and Daniel.

It was obvious, but he decided to indulge him. “Don’t you atleast know it could be fatal to invade someone else’s territory when hunting?”“I didn’t know that,” Josh answered nonchalantly. “Great discovery, I look forward to learning more from you,” he teased. Today was the remembrance of Richard’s late parents. As a tradition he had upheld every year, he went to buy them flowers and proceeded to visit their graves. They were buried in a private cemetery called Blackwood Cemetery. Richard arrived there a few hours after leaving the Vesters island. The place was as quiet as a graveyard as expected. Barely anyone was around. Richard located their graves, located side by side under the shade of an ancient oak tree. Their headstones were made of fine white marble, smooth and polished nicely. Even if they were dead, Richard made sure they had one of the finest headstones and the best location in the cemetery. A gentle breeze rustled through the benches of the tree as Richard bent down and sat on his mother’s grave cover, his finger tracing it gently. He sighed sadly before pulling out a cloth from his pocket and he began to clean, carefully g wiping away the dust and debris. He did this every time he came. When he was done, he replaced t

“…Demar.”Richard’s eyes snapped at him, his heart increasingly pounding against his chest. “Demar??” He asked with widened eyes. “Demar what?” Richard asked to be very sure. “Demar Valkar,” Sir Bobby answered, his brows knitting together slowly. He tilted his head, “You’re Valkar. Do you know Demar?”Richard swallowed the large lump that formed in his throat and nodded slowly. “He- he was my father…”Bobby’s eyes widened in shock, his breath catching in his throat. He scrambled onto his knees, staring at Richard as if seeing a ghost. “You’re… you’re his son?” His voice barely rose above a whisper, yet it carried the weight of disbelief. Richard nodded slowly. “You know my father? He was your friend?” His brows furrowed. He didn’t remember Bobby as one of his dad’s friends, and Bobby was also quite older. “How come?” Bobby blinked rapidly, his lips parting, but no words came out at first. He ran a trembling hand over his face, exhaling sharply. “Wow…” His gaze remained locke

Demar shook his head in dismay, his sadness palpable. “Sadly, you’re right. Isn’t it terrible?” His heart ached.A sharp gasp tore from Richard’s lips, his chest tightening at the sad discovery. His hand found his chest and he clutched it. What could his father have done to these killers to warrant taking his life?? To the best of his knowledge, his father was a good man, so why?“Why?” Richard whispered. He was beyond stunned and in disbelief that tears began to well up in his eyes. Sir Bobby sighed. “Demar was a good man… He didn’t deserve it at all. He took care of the less privileged, he was too selfless for his own good, in fact. He always made sure no one around him suffered…”Bobby let out a sudden chuckle. “He was too good. I’ve never met a man with such integrity in over sixty years of my life. He was a great man and he touched so many lives.”Richard nodded in agreement and smiled. He knew his father. “You.. said you saw the driver and the other hit man, can you describe
