“What?!” Lydia screamed at Richard, her tone hostile.

“Please move,” she eyed him with disdain and pressed his shoulder with the tip of her finger in an attempt to move him out of the way.

Lydia leaned in to glimpse the price on the POS machine and began to laugh. “Ten thousand?” she said to Richard. “All you can afford is Ten thousand?”

Though Richard remained quiet and calm, her behavior was infuriating.

How long would he have to endure Lydia? he wondered.

She folded her arms, her lips curling into a mocking sneer. “You’re such a smelling pauper,” she said with a loud and cutting voice.

“So, after all your pretense of being something you’re not, look at you offering just Ten thousand dollars,” she mocked. “You can never ever compete with me, Richard, ever!”

She stepped closer, “Please, I’d like to purchase this antique,” she said to the stall owner, pulling out her card.

She then turned to Richard and eyed him one last time. “Please shift. With your cheap clothings, you still thi

The stranger, clearly not discouraged, smirked and waved his hand dismissively. “I don’t care who paid for it,” he said arrogantly. “I’ll pay double, even triple for that watch,” he concluded. Richard frowned. His expression remained cool, but there was an obvious shift in his posture and expression. He turned to the young man, his voice calm but tense. “I suggest you move aside,” Richard said. “The deal is already done. The item is no longer up for discussion.”Just then, a sharp, hostile voice rang out of nowhere.“Please shut the fuck up, man! Kent’s eyebrow shot upward in surprise.Richard stepped closer to him, his eyes locked with Kent’s. “You must face the consequences of your actions,” he declared. Kent’s brows furrowed, “You can’t be serious right now.” He laughed. “See this one, whose skills I only wanted to manage, offering more than he’s worth,” he said, stylishly stepping back. “Let me tell you, my family would not think twice to retaliate if you dare to harm me!” he warned, his expression hardening.Richard smiled. With a quiet, measured movement, Richard seized Kent’s arm. And in one swift, deliberate motion, he twisted it with ease, snapping it with a quiet crunch. Before Kent could even process what had just happened, Richard delivered a powerful kick to his stomach, sending him crashing into his chair.“Arghhhh!” Kent groaned in intense pain. “Fuck!!”Richard took a step closer, his gaze fixed down on Kent. “This is just a simple warning,” he stated flatly.Without hesitation, the others fled, leaving Ken

Later in the afternoon, Richard and Janae arrived at an estate to visit a renowned local antique expert, Horace Blackwood. “I’m certain he will be able to appraise or restore the value of the antique.” Janae said as they walked to the front door. She had explained to Richard that Horace had extensive knowledge of antiques and was very wealthy. She vouched that he could appraise and also restore the value of the pocket watch if there was a need. Richard agreed, so he was here to determine the true value of the item he bought to avoid gifting Sir Wilson something cheap and inappropriate. Upon entering the house, they met a middle aged man in a suit waiting for them. “Good day, Ms Vester,” the man greeted, approaching her. He leaned in, brushing a light kiss against each of her cheeks in a gesture of familiarity and warmth. Janae smiled politely. “Hello, Mr Horace. It’s good to see you.” “Mr Horace, this is Mr Richard,” Janae began, gesturing toward Richard. “He’s b

“Fifty million dollars, what do you say?” Horace quickly made his offer known. Before Richard could answer, he quickly added, “Seventy million! It’s a once in a lifetime piece but this is surely a tempting price I’m offering.”“What do you say, Mr Richard?” he asked, his breath caught in his throat. Richard’s expression didn’t waver despite the mouth watering offer. “I appreciate the offer, but this item isn’t for sale,” he said, his tone firm but polite. “It’s meant as a gift for someone very important to me, an elder.”Horace sighed deeply, his shoulders dropping. Regret clouded his face, but a hint of admiration lingered in his eyes. “What a pity,” Horace murmured, shaking his head slowly. “Well It’s evident you can’t be swayed by wealth… I admire that,” he said, nodding. He glanced at the watch before offering Richard a resigned smile. “Then I’ll respect your decision, but know my doors are always open should you ever reconsider.”“Actually,” Richard began, and Horace’s eyes

Lydia, on the other hand, was fuming. “Dad! Why are you this excited over whatever is in that box?? You didn’t even show this much excitement for anyone else,” she said, stomping her feet. “Don’t you even think you deserve better than that tiny ass box from this country bumpkin?!” she exclaimed. Her father turned to her. “Lydia..” he began but he got interrupted by her sudden sarcastic laughter. “Oh!” She kept laughing then crossed her arms. “Did you really think whatever is in there was valuable?” she asked and turned to Richard. “Richard, won’t you tell him?”Richard’s brows furrowed slightly.“Won’t you tell them I saw you at the antique market today?” she said, her voice dripping with disdain. “Sorry to burst your bubble, dad, the antique in that box is merely a cheap find from a flea market.”“Don’t be deceived, It is far from a rare treasure!”Lydia’s sneering comment set off a ripple of laughter among the other family members. “Mr Richard, you had us all hooked for a secon

Sir Wilson’s birthday party was still in full swing with everyone wining, and dining, when Lydia’s phone suddenly rang. “Hey girl,” she said with excitement. “Happy birthday Layla!” “Thanks my love,” Layla replied, equally excited, though her voice was low, competing with the loud background of her birthday party. “Please extend my greetings to my birthday mate,” Layla added. “When will you be here? Everyone is waiting!” “I’ll be there soon,” Lydia replied and hung up. Lydia immediately ran to her father with an eager smile. “Dad, I want to leave now for Layla’s birthday party.” Sir Wilson raised a brow, considering her request. “Alright, you can…” Before Lydia could run off, he quickly suggested, “Why not take Richard along with you?” “Dad!” she exclaimed, her smile vanishing. Before she could protest further, he called out, “Richard! Richard!” and gestured for him to come over. “Richard,” Sir Wilson said warmly when he arrived. “Would you like to join Lydia at

One of his friends suddenly laughed, saying, “But you know you can find knockoffs of these pieces in flea markets. Are you sure what you have is not just a replica?”Whispered conversations of disagreement and sidelong glances followed his words, their initial astonishment fading. “Hmm. He might be right. It is most likely a scam.”“Think about it. How can it be worth millions of dollars? Not even one million, but seventy million,” another remarked, clicking his tongue repeatedly and shaking his head in doubt.Lydia’s cousin sneered, “can Richard even afford a thousand dollars that he’d gift something worth millions of dollars?”“Exactly.”Sir Wilson chuckled, shaking his head. “I think that’s enough,” he said, his voice soft but steady with authority. “This is no knockoff or replica. Believe it or not, it is a priceless masterpiece,” he paused then continued. “I’m sure most of you know Horace Blackwood…”Upon hearing the name of the prominent figure in the city’s antique world, all

Whispers grew louder, accusations flying in the air as they tried to shield themselves.A sharp feminine voice broke through the tension. “It’s you right?!” she hissed, her eyes narrowing at her partner. “You’re always causing trouble. I hope you’re not the one Dario’s after!”The man’s face drained of color, his body shaking visibly. “It’s not me!” he stammered, his voice trembling with fear. He held the edge of the table tight as he silently prayed, his breath shallow, wishing with everything he had that it wasn’t him. Suddenly, Lydia’s voice rang out, sharp and condescending. He took a slender pair of forceps and used them to pick up a small, round pill from a compartment lined with velvet. He needed to administer the Curexol pill to the boy. But the boy was unconscious, how would he swallow?Richard assessed the situation in his mind for a moment. Just then, he crushed the pill into a fine powder, mixing it with a small amount of sterile water from a vial in his kit. With a syringe, he drew the liquid mixture before gently removing the tubing from the boy’s nostril. “He can’t breathe without it. What are you doing?!” Christopher’s wife shouted but her husband held her back.Richard carefully tilted the boy’s head slightly to the side to prevent choking as the child’s chest heaved faintly, his body instinctively struggling to draw air.“Breathe,” he murmured in the ears of the boy. Moments later, Richard arrived at Christopher’s house in the latter’s luxurious ride. “We’re here,” Christopher informed as the driver turned into the driveway, leading them to the front of the house. He had brought Richard to see his son, intending for Richard to gain a deeper understanding of the boy’s condition. Seconds later, the car came to a halt and both men alighted. “Please come with me,” Christopher led Richard into the room where his son lay. They walked into a large room, the beeps of medical monitors echoing softly in the room. The young boy was still on the bed, his frail body barely lifting with each shallow breath. There was also a nasal cannula fixed in his nose for delivering oxygen directly to him. His skin was very pale and his sunken cheeks made him look even fragile, with dark circles underneath his closed eyes. Next to the boy was a woman seated. She was lost in thoughts when they walked in that she didn’t even realize. “Darling,” Christopher tapped he

“I will reveal the doctor’s identity to you…” Daniel suddenly stepped forward and said, his words cutting through the tension in the air. Everyone’s eyes snapped at him, their expressions a mix of surprise and disbelief. Is he okay in the head? They thought. How could he utter such a statement right after grandpa’s declaration?Sir Vester turned to face him, his eyes burning with a seething anger that was very evident. Janae’s brow furrowed with shock and concern, while Collin’s lips parted as if to say something, but no words came out. Delilah, however, was the first to react. Her eyes widened for a brief moment before a sly smile tugged at the corner of her lips. “Really?” she asked.“…if you promise to leave my family alone,” Daniel added, his voice firm but strained, as though he was weighing the consequences of his words. He could not shake the feeling of everyone’s eyes on him either. Delilah’s smile widened into a grin. She arched one eyebrow, and purred, “well, well… Oka

Back in the estate courtyard, Delilah expressed her gratitude to Janae and her family. Her lips curled into a gracious smile as her gaze swept over the private area that had been prepared for her and her entourage. The lavishness of the area spoke volume of the effort Janae’s family had put in, especially for an impromptu visit. The large table alone was set with an abundance of delicacies; exquisite wines, rare fruits, and curated dishes befitting nothing less than the status of a war goddess. “Truly,” she said, her voice smooth and warm, “your hospitality is remarkable. It’s no small thing to welcome a guest… particularly one who arrives unannounced.”Her smile deepened, a clear air of authority mingling with her gratitude. “To have gone to such lengths on my behalf is beyond what I could have expected. You’ve really outdone yourselves.”Though her words seemed sincere, they carried an undertone that made it clear she accepted their efforts as only natural for someone of her sta

He had been anticipating his response all evening anyway. But Christopher didn’t say any other word, his eyes darting around as he suddenly realized his voice was a bit loud, drawing the attention of everyone, including Delilah. He quickly looked around the room, and seeing the curious stares fixed on him, his cheeks flushed with a mix of embarrassment and nervousness. He met Delilah’s gaze and quickly looked away, holding back the lump that formed in his throat. ‘Why was he loud?’ Janae thought to herself, her stomach tightening as Christopher’s voice echoed through the room, a little too loud for her liking. Behind them was her entourage including a procession of guards dressed in coordinated black suits marching in disciplined silence. As they moved, their footsteps echoed faintly in the open space, announcing their presence. Delilah’s black evening dress flowed gracefully around her as she strode forward majestically, her sharp gaze scanning the surrounding courtyard.“Look! She’s here!” Daniel whispered in awe, his voice barely audible over the collective gasp that rippled through the few guests nearby. The entire family moved quickly to greet Delilah with great respect. Janae stepped forward first and lowered her gaze, bowing slightly. “Welcome Goddess Delilah,” she said warmly, “it’s an honor to have you here. Meanwhile, Delilah was still seated in her car, engaged in a conversation with Samuel Orchid. “Do you think he’ll be in attendance?” she said to him, her keen gaze fixed ahead. “Who?”“The healer who treated Sir Vester. Why do you think I’m here? He’s the sole reason why I’m attending this event. I have to find him,” she turned to Samuel. Desperation was evident in her eyes as she spoke. Finding someone had never been a difficult task for her, and this wouldn’t be either. “If I can’t get my hand on the miracle doctor himself, I will definitely find this particular healer,” she added with finality.Samuel let out a deep sigh, his eyes narrowing in doubt. “I still find it hard to believe that someone could cure an illness the mighty Doctor Ben failed to treat,” he said, shaking his head.“Right, it’s unbelievable,” Delilah said. “But Doctor Ben himself witnessed everything in person. Even he was in awe… this healer is exceptional.”“What if he’s the miracle doctor?” Samuel suggeste

Richard stopped Christopher gently, quickly blocking his path. He had this pressing feeling that Christopher was hiding the truth. And he knew his instincts always turned out to be true. ‘Is he lying because he might also need the herb for a medical condition?’ Richard thought to himself, his brows lifting. “Mr Christopher,” Richard began but got interrupted by Janae. “Are you sure you don’t have the herb?” she asked, stepping closer. “I was almost completely sure you had it.”“Or didn’t you?” She added, evidently confused. Christopher sighed, almost getting upset. “Ms Janae, if I say I don’t have it, then I don’t have it,” he said, trying to sound as polite as possible. “Why would I lie? “Maybe because you might need it for a medical condition,” Richard said, his words quick as he gazed at him intently. Richard’s speculation shook Christopher because he knew it was true. Now even if he tried, he couldn’t exactly mask his pretense.“Mr…” he inhaled deeply and continued. “Mr Ric
