A business offer

Damon took Ambrose to a good enough restaurant. They talked over their food. Well, Ambrose did most of the talking. She was filling Damon up about everything happening in her college

Both of them grew up in a small town in the outskirts of the country. They were childhood besties and were inseparable

Damon and his mother relocated to City B because they thought there would be a wider range of opportunities and things would get better. Not only did things get worse, they also didn't have enough funds to return to their hometown. That was how Damon got stuck in City B. It wasn't long after his relocation that he lost his mother.

During the time of separation between Ambrose and Damon, they both realised that what they felt for each other was much more than a mere bestie's love. Ambrose had a lot of men hoping to be with her. But her heart was only with Damon and she turned all of them down

Fortunately, Ambrose got a scholarship to study in City B. She left her mum in her hometown to further her education

Ambrose looked for Damon in the city. When they saw each other, it didn't take much time before they confessed their love to each other. And then, their relationship got official

Ambrose wasn't particularly wealthy as well. She was a middle-class lady but was well off than Damon.

When they were halfway through their dinner, Ambrose excused herself to use the restroom. Not long after, Damon received a message stating for him to meet up outside the restaurant. Damon ignored the message as the message was sent through an unknown number. About a couple of seconds later, another message from the same number came in

"Damon. I want to talk with you. I come with no bad intentions. There's a red car outside the restaurant you're in, meet me in there"

Damon furrowed his brows and read the message for the umpteenth time. Not only did the person know his name, but the person also knew where he was. There was only one person he could link to the message. Baron!

Baron did mention that he would get back at him. He was trying to lure Damon outside. Damon switched his phone off and threw it into his pocket.

He was about to continue with his meal when a huge man dressed in a black suit approached him. The man had tattoos on his entire body, even his face as well. He was also wearing a sunshade, totally concealing his face

Damon felt a little intimated but still maintained his stance. Although he had an attractive body build, the man in front of him was more muscular.

The man bowed his head slightly "Good evening. Madam asks to meet with you. Please, come with me"

Damon immediately connected the dots and realised that the messages he received earlier were from the same "madam" the man spoke of

After much consideration. He stood up and went with the man. Damon knew causing a ruckus and denying approval would be unnecessary. People like that would always get what they want

He spotted the red Tesla immediately after he got outside the restaurant. Its model and lustrous red colour was captivating.

He stopped at the window side and knocked on the window. The window wined down and revealed an exceptionally stunning lady

She was wearing a sunshade that covered half of her face leaving only her nose tip and her boldly painted lips out in the open. She widened her lips into a little smile and gently nudged her head towards the car " Get in"

"Get straight to the point" Damon didn't enter the car. He stood rooted to the ground. He wanted to find out who she was and get back to Ambrose as soon as he could. He didn't want her to get worried about his disappearance

" I come with no harm. I have a business offer for you. Get in and let's discuss it" She spoke up again when she didn't get a response from him "Except you want to continue in poverty"

Damon unclasped his folded arms and entered the car. The car had a normal exterior but the interior could make one feel as though they had been teleported into some type of heavenly haven

There was no speck of dust and the air reeked of wealth. Damon didn't have time to appreciate the grandeur of the car. Rather, he sat and outrightly told the woman "I do not have all the time in the world"

The woman wasn't annoyed by Damon's remark. Instead, she gave a positive response "This is good, you have his temperament as well"

" Are you here to waste my time? "

The woman took a deep breath and tapped her lap lightly " I have an offer for you. An offer that'll change your financial status from zero to a hundred"

" Cut the chase and say what the offer is"

" I'll pay you fifteen million dollars to be someone's impostor. For life"

The car fell into a still silence after the woman spoke. It was the first time Damon was offered such a huge amount. The money he got from his part-time jobs combined together could almost amount to nothing. Even the dinner date he took Ambrose on cost him only a hundred dollars

If truly he could get his hands on such an amount of money, it would be splendid. Not only would he be able to provide Ambrose with the things she needs, but he'd also have the stance to stand by her side

But was it worth it? If he got caught, he would be thrown into jail. Living someone else's life could be dangerous in so many ways

As if sensing Damon's reluctance, the woman spoke up again "You don't have to worry about getting caught or anything of that sort. With me as your backing, I assure you nothing will go wrong. So long you follow my orders"

" What you're asking of me is risky" Damon said after a few minutes of silence on his side

"That's why I'm offering you a lot of money for it. Too little? Twenty. Let's make it twenty million dollars" The woman said unhurriedly

"Why do you need me to be someone's impostor? What if the person returns and strips me of my mask?"

"I'll answer all your questions only after you've agreed to my offer"

"Why me of all people?" Damon asked the question that baffled him the most. There's a swam of more capable people out there. He wasn't an actor in any way

The woman tossed a card to him and said "I did some digging about you and I've been tailing you for quite a while now. You're the best fit for this job. I found out a few things about you, like how you've been working the lowest of jobs to survive. I promise you, it'll come as a regret to you if you let this opportunity slide"

"I'll give you three days to think this through. My number is on the card. Call me when you've made a decision"

Damon took the card and left the car. He pushed all that the woman said into the back of his head. He wanted to have his whole mind on Ambrose for the rest of the day. He didn't want to be distracted in any way

He got back into the restaurant and found a few officers discussing with Ambrose. He could hear Ambrose saying " I've told you several times. Damon isn't here and besides, he only hit him because he was trying to protect me. It was purely for defence"

It didn't take Damon much to realize that Baron had called the cops on him. He was about to take a step backwards when a policeman turned back and saw him

"Hey, you! You're Damon Brooks, right?"
