Young master, is that you?

You will cut off all ties with her, along with any other person you're acquainted with" The woman spat coldly

Damon stood up and dusted his trousers "If that's the case, then I guess you should look elsewhere. I'm not the right person for the job"

"You signed a contract. You have to follow all my orders, all of them " She stood up and continued "We'll start tonight. Later today, you'll go to Snyder's mansion. The description of the place is on the file you're holding. So long you follow everything in that file, nothing will go wrong"

With that being said, she left the restaurant, not caring about the ugly expression on Damon's face

It took Damon a while before he left the hotel. Cut off all ties with Ambrose?

The evening came in a flash. Damon took a cab to the Snyder's mansion. He couldn't find any cabs walking on the way, he saw different private car models, most of which he wasn't familiar with

Soon enough, he got to his destination and was dumbstruck at the extravagance of the house. His heart suddenly started to race. Was he not getting himself into trouble by getting acquainted with such a wealthy family?

He clustered his courage and went to the golden gate. It had a calligraphic "S" inscribed in the middle. The gate was slightly opened. The file did mention that the woman from earlier would find a way to leave the gate open for him to enter

It would have been impossible to enter if otherwise. There was a fingerprint port on the gate. The gate would only grant entry access to someone if the person's fingerprint is registered

Damon wasn't sure exactly how the woman was able to get the door open. But, he was sure she was someone close to Snyder's family or she had insider men in the house

Damon entered the gate and headed to the main building. Unknown to him, the gatekeeper was watching him from his quarter. The gatekeeper had his mouth hung open and was standing rooted to the ground

The distance of the main building from a gate was quite a stretch. Damon had to walk a few metres before he got there.

The mansion was an exquisite blend of modern sophistication and ancient intricacy. It was three floors high. A well-kept gravel path stretched from the fountain to the double doors. A large swimming pool and a garden were on either side of the house

The door opened almost immediately after Damon knocked on it to reveal a brown-haired lady. The woman froze on the spot as soon as she set her eyes on Damon. The tray filled with glass cups she was holding turned into shards on the floor

It took Margaret quite a few seconds before she regained her composure. She banged the door shut and opened it again after five seconds passed by

A tear slid down the woman's eyes as her trembling hands stretched to touch Damon's face "Young master, is that you?"

Meanwhile, at the other end of the city

Ambrose went to Damon's house to look for him, since he was neither picking up her calls nor replying to her messages. She didn't find Damon there. All the furniture in the house was still there, except everything that personally belonged to Damon couldn't be found

His pictures, clothes, sandals and everything he owned wasn't there

It was as though he never lived there in the first place

Out of panic, Ambrose went to all the places he worked part-time, but she still couldn't find him. She called him again but it went straight to voicemail

Perspiration gathered on her forehead and her heart beat faster than ever. There was no other place for her to search, he had no friends or family, and there was nowhere else he could have gone to

As much as Damon tried to hide his feelings, she could still sense that ever since he was sent to the police station by Baron, there was a slight change in him. As though he was blaming himself for not being man enough

Ambrose took a cab back to her apartment, just to check if he went there while she was away. But, she knew something was up. Her sixth sense was always on point

Back at Snyder's mansion, Damon gave a gentle nod and a comforting smile and then rubbed his cheeks against the woman's hand

The woman was Margaret, Nathan's nanny and the head of staff in the house. Alongside Mrs Snyder, Margaret was always around to help take care of Nathan. She was more around Nathan than Mrs Snyder was

There was an inexplicable bond between Nathan as a child and Margaret. Therefore, memory of her would be stuck in Nathan's head even after a few years of separation.

Margaret pulled him into her embrace and sobbed her eyes out. After she had drained her eyes of all their wetness, she took Damon into his room and told him to refresh up.

Damon stared at the room which made him feel as though he had been teleported into another dimension. Floor-to-ceiling windows line one side of the room, giving enough room to view the garden below. His eyes were drawn to the king-sized bed that looked like it could make anyone drift to sleep the moment they sat on it

Perhaps it was due to mental exhaustion, or the overload of work lately, but he went to the bed and drifted to sleep immediately

He woke up in the evening and was met with about eight unfamiliar faces in the room. They all stared at him without blinking as though they feared he would disappear if they blinked

" Welcome back, young master" The staff bowed in unison and greeted him. They were all dressed in black and white uniforms with a golden calligraphic "S" placed on their breast pocket

Margaret emerged from between them and sat on the edge of Damon's bed " All of you, go downstairs and prepare the table. I want no mistakes. Young master is back, everything will return to normal"

The maids dissipated as soon as Margaret finished talking. She turned to Damon, took his hands in hers and looked at him warmly. Damon could tell she had a lot to say but all she did was let her tears flow. She wiped her tears away but they didn't stop falling.

" I'm so glad you're back. After you disappeared, the house didn't feel the same. Madam and Master stopped laughing, all they ever did was spend their time searching for you. And even after the police closed the case and termed you dead, they didn't lose hope. They knew you were out there somewhere and that they would find you "

She sniffled and continued" Eldest master was optimistic as well. A lot happened, and even the companies began to run down. If not for the interference of your uncle, I fear the companies would have crashed "

"Ma'am and Master would be happy you're back "

" Where's grandfather? "Damon asked

" Eldest master has been sick for a year now. He gets tired out easily. He's currently in his room resting. He'd be happy to see you again. All he ever do is ask of you " She smiled at him

Damon nodded. He feared if he spoke too much, he would expose himself. After all, less is more. Less is safe.

After Margaret said what she wanted to, she left the room and told Damon to come down for his dinner.

Damon soon went downstairs and was stupefied at the number of dishes made. The long table was filled with rioted colours of dishes. His stomach instinctively growled

Just as he approached the dining table, hurried footsteps sounded

Damon looked in the direction of the sound and saw a man and woman walking hurriedly towards them

"It really is true. Nathan is back! The woman dropped her purse on the dining table and stared at Damon with widened eyes

Damon squinted his eyes. The woman gave off a really familiar vibe as though he knew her from somewhere

Suddenly, his eyes widened. Was she not the woman who gave him the offer to be Nathan's impostor?
