Chapter 4

"This might just be a challenge I don't have to succumb to, what will I tell Imikah? He would surely laugh at me, I promised that I will make Brienne return to me and now I'm going away like that? No, I wouldn't!" He resolves to go back to her and tell her courageously what he came to say.

Walking back to the entrance door, he wants to step inside, by now both Brienne and Iniesta have already dressed up. She wouldn't let him, she rushes to the entrance pushing him off, he staggers. Then Iniesta walks forward as if he wants to beat him up but Brienne blocks him. Don't worry, I'll deal with him myself. He is too weak and foolish for you to fight. I can handle him.

"What are you saying?" Wenton  gets pissed, his eyes turn red with anger. Never had he been abused this way by anyone before. He walks forward to challenge her for such an insult she has given to him.

"If you come a step closer to me, I'll give you a terrible slap." She shakes her head furiously at him and surely she means what she is saying. Wenton who thinks it's just a threat walks close to her but he receives a heavy slap on his cheeks before he could get to her. He receives the second and the third.

"Don't you ever try coming close to me, you are a nobody, worth nothing. I don't do guys like you. I do rich guys like Iniesta." Wenton rises from the ground where he had fallen prior to the shock of the slap to see Brienne caressing Iniesta's bare chest as his shirt's buttons have been left unbuttoned. He doesn't know what to say, he prays, the ground opens up and swallows him. He would rather go underneath than witness this happen. He remembers the exact day Brienne promised to give this treatment to him only and no other person.

This memory and others rush into his mind, making him burn with pains and depression. The strength to say what he returned to say is no longer there, he walks like that defeated to the car, starts it and leaves amidst the boos from both Brienne and Iniesta. He shuts his ears to their loud mockeries by switching on the music player in his car such that he is distracted from what they are saying. Still he can hear some of what is being said.

"I would never date an idiot like him, I thought that he was going to make it not knowing that his foolishness would bring him crashing to the floor. Well, I'm glad it happened like this so we would crash into each other." She hears him say to Iniesta who is grinning with delight.

"He thinks he has won a prize, I don't mind because Brienne would do the same thing to him as she has done to me." Wenton  mutters to himself. Someone who is a gold-digger doesn't stop at one man, when she sees another man or player who is wealthier, she would leave him. This forms part of the consolation Wenton has.

As he returns home, he quietly goes over to his room from where he heads to the bathroom to take a cold shower. Then he goes to the kitchen and picks the food that has been kept for him in the refrigerator. Since it's his family home, he doesn't have to beg for food as each time it's prepared, his own is kept for him, even when he isn't at home. He takes it from the refrigerator, goes to the dining room and consumes it quietly without talking to anyone.

He has a lot to think about in his life, it would be better if his family supported him in his football career but they don't rather they play indifferently. It's more painful when those you expect to support you don't, in fact discouragement is preferable because most discouragements make you warm up, it boosts your spirit to try and succeed so that those who said you would fail would be proven wrong.

"Well, I don't need anyone to support me, I don't need any discouragement to push me further, I'll push myself further." He tells himself and such encouragement given to self when no one is willing to give you proves to be the most effective.

As he finishes with his meal, he receives a call from Imikah. He had planned to have a quiet moment but he can't help, he has to reply to the call.

"Hello bro." He speaks before Imikah could even have the chance to say hello.

"Yes bro, I called to remind you of the meeting. It's going to be tomorrow. I met him and he said I should walk with you to meet him tomorrow and discuss the matter. I hope that it's going to go well." Inikah goes straight to the point, he is not a great talker and doesn't beat around the bush when he has something important to say. If at all, he wishes to talk about other unrelated matters, it's after the vital news has been delivered.

"Wow, I'm delighted." Wenton can't hold his tears and they are tears of joy formed by thinking of the type of love Imikah has for him. He hasn't come across such a true and loyal friend as him before, this amazes him and will always amaze him.

"What's the dress code?" He asks to prevent coming out in a style that would be a turn-away. He wants to do everything correctly because he wants this appointment, this is his last and only chance, what he believes, he would not let any further assurance which might never come true make him lose this one.

"Since it's going to be a sports meeting, I would advise you to come in with something that detects that you are a good sportsman, not necessarily a jersey. Perhaps a football jogger with its equivalent tracksuit and a pair of sneakers. I hope you have what I just mentioned, if you don't, please notify me so that I can give mine to you on time before then. The time is 8 AM to 10 AM. He told me to inform you to come within this time range, he would be busy after 10 AM. Let's not disappoint him. "

"With the love you have for me, I can never disappoint him because if I do, I'm indirectly disappointing you and that would never happen. Please believe me. Thanks for the offer, I'm so grateful. I had bought these while I was playing as the captain. Then I received a very good pay."

"Good, that means we should leave by 7 AM because the journey would take between thirty minutes to fifty, depending on the situation on the road."

"What if we arrive before the time? Wenton asks.

"That's not going to be a problem, we can find some place to stay till it's 8AM. Going late is the actual problem."

"Alright thanks, I will not disappoint you." Wenton  says and the call ends.
