Gareth’s head was down low and all he could see was his boss’ shiny shoes. A proud man a while ago was now bowing like a dog.

However, his boss didn't even pay any heed to his greetings. He walked past Gareth and went to stand before Chris.

“Kid, can I see that badge again?” He asked.

Chris looked from the man to the gold badge. His father had told him this could be used anywhere to declare his family status, had someone finally recognized the badge?

“First, tell me who you are.” Chris didn't show the badge to him. He wanted to be sure this man was a really sensible person, or else he ran the risk of being embarrassed again about his badge.

“Oh, my bad.” The dignified man chuckled. “I am Alexander McQueen, owner of the McQueen brand. I own this mall. I used to work with the Westminster family and I know that badge.”

“Oh, really?” Chris raised his brows, he was impressed. At least, this man knew about the Westminster badge. He looked trustworthy enough.

“Yes. I would like to take

Gareth and his wife were dragged away, leaving the atmosphere tense and overwhelmed. The onlookers were wowed and unexpectedly, they burst into a round of applause. “Wow… look at him. He is so cool.” “I wish to be the heir of the Westminster family too. Imagine how much money he has.” Listening to their words, Chris felt proud but he didn't let those words get into his head too much. He wanted to go back to his main purpose of visiting the mall. The applause came to an end and everyone dispersed. “Can I shop for the things I want now?” He asked Alexander. “Yeah… sure. But you don’t need to worry. You will be taken to the VIP section and everything you need will be brought to you.” Alexander suggested. “That will work.” Chris nodded. Alexander started to lead Chris toward the top floor of the mall. But then Bella Shaw stepped forward, pulling the edge of his clothes. “Thank you for not letting me get fired.” She whispered. “It's nothing. You didn't do anything wrong in the fi

“You shithead! Where are you? Aren't you coming anymore?” Mia’s worried voice rang through Chris’ phone. She had been calling him nonstop thinking he wasn't going to attend her party. Chris's expression softened and he smiled, “Don’t worry. I am here.” He looked out of the window to see that he was at the venue already. “Quick! Hurry in! I am so tired of these obnoxious people around me.” She said and ended the call. Chris let out a sigh knowing she was referring to the second-generation rich heirs she invited to the party. He knew how obnoxious they could be and he also didn't want to get involved with them. He got out of his car in the parking lot and took the elevator to the floor where the party was happening. As soon as he got in, he spotted Mia who was at the forefront of the decorated hall with a few friends. He smiled a bit seeing her so happy and he was about to walk toward her when he received a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see Reid and Ren, the arrogant bas

Chris walked with Mia, hand in hand toward her table. He was quite happy that Mia stood up for him. She was also a second-generation rich heir but she was so humble and kind and didn't discriminate against him when he was a poor cleaner. As they passed by the guests, they all looked at him in awe and he could hear how they were proud he beat up Reid, especially.“I heard what happened today. I am sorry I couldn't come see you at the police station. I heard about it at my party.” She said. Chris had no problem with it. After such an unfortunate event, a lot of goodies came out. So he was quite cool. “Also, I am happy you punched that bastard…” Mia continued and then whispered, “And that cheating bitch. I warned you about her.” She was talking about Melissa.“Turns out you were right. Melissa’s case is closed, Mia. I don't want her anywhere near me.” Chris realized that he had not even thought about or processed his breakup with Melissa. It was just a gust of wind that blew away so q

“No…” Chris shook his head. “I don’t care whether you think I am wearing a fake or not. I have nothing to prove to you.”“Now, get lost.” Chris pushed Shantel’s hand away and was about to leave but Ria quickly stood in his way. “But I care,” Ria said, folding her hands. She stared down at him, her stance looked intimidating. “And who are you?” He asked, looking straight at her. Ria was quite surprised he wasn't intimidated by her and she felt even more intrigued. “I am Ria McQueen. Alexander, the owner of the Queen’s brand is my brother.” She introduced herself, proudly. “Ohh…” Chris chuckled. He realized why she was so concerned about his clothes. “I just need to check your sleeves to know whether your clothes are fake or not. If they are, I am going to personally sue you for soiling my brother’s brand.” Ria declared, her eyes flashing with a wicked glint. “Yes! Sue him!” Shantel had not gotten over the embarrassment she was facing from both Ria and Chris and she wanted nothing

“Are you sure about that?” Mia asked, feeling a bit scared for Chris. “It's okay.” He shrugged. Ria took this as the cue to call her brother and she did. The phone rang and on the second ring, the call connected. It was on speaker phone but then Ria didn't let her brother know it was. “Hi, Big brother…” Ria smiled as she greeted her brother. “Yes, Ria. Are you okay? Do you need some money?” Alexander asked, his tone caring. The other people looked at Ria with envious gazes, especially Shantel. Ria had parents and a brother who was ready to spend on her, yet their families were rocky even though they had wealth. “No, bro. But if you want to send me some. You can.” Ria chuckled. Mia couldn't help but roll her eyes and she just wanted to shout at Ria to go straight to the point. “Alright. Is there anything else?” Alexander asked. “Yes, big bro. There is someone named Chris here…” Ria watched Chris for any change of expression but there was nothing. So, she continued, “He claims h

“Where did you get those clothes from?” Mia asked, tapping her feet on the floor as Chris got out of the restroom. “Do you think I stole it too?” Chris chuckled. “Huh?” Mia didn't know what to say. “Uhm… I...” She then sighed. “What do you want me to think? I know you don’t steal but what is more baffling is how you got in touch with Alexander McQueen. How did you do that?” She asked. “I just did.” Chris shrugged. “It's not a big deal.” He cleaned off the last residue of wine on his clothes. With his clothes soiled, he just wanted to go back home but he couldn't leave yet.He had not even presented his gift to Mia yet. It was still in his car with his driver. “Then how did you get the money?” Mia didn't let go of the issue. “I am not trying to insult but then you and I know you don’t have that much money to buy luxury clothes.”“I am just concerned for you, Chris. I hope you don’t go down the wrong way in a bid to impress me or anyone else.” Her eyes were questioning him. “You d

The table went silent and all eyes were on Chris. They saw nothing with him and they immediately felt like he was just leeching off Mia since he didn't bring anything. This time, Mike chipped in, “But then, do you expect him to get something after he must have used all his life savings to bail himself out today?” At his words, there was a round of mocking laughter at the table. “Oh, Chris. How was prison?” A guy at the table asked. “Should we consider you an ex-convict now?” “Ex-convict Chris.” Somebody called out to him and they all burst out laughing again. “This is not fair!” Mia cut them off, her hand fisting on her thighs. She then glared at Mike and Melissa. “What makes you think Chris didn't get anything for me? Why are you attacking him? Is it because of what happened today?” Mia was sure he did though because he told her. “Of course, he didn’t.” Melissa chuckled. “Did you see anything on him?” “And if you want to talk about what happened today, not here, please. The table went silent, all eyes moved from Chris to Mike but they still didn't make sense of why the waiter was asking for Chris. “Chris Westminster?” One of the girls gasped. She glared and the waiter, and then pointed at Mike, “Does he look like a pauper to you?” “I.. I.. Don’t know.” The waiter shook her head. “But I was asked to deliver this to Chris Westminster. If he is not Chris, then I can’t give it to him.” “What? Do you mean Chris ordered this?” Melissa shot up to her feet, in disbelief. “Yes, ma’am. The person who delivered this showed me a picture of Chris and you sir…” She pointed to Mike. “…you do not look like him.”“Wow... Unbelievable…” The girls gasped in shock and started to pull away from Mike. Chris who was still on his feet called out to the waiter, “Bring it here. I am Chris.” “Yes. It's you.” The waiter gasped, with a nod. An uncomfortable silence was heavy in the air. Everyone looked at Mike whose face had gone ashen. The waiter then pulled the gift b

One day later…“Why are you so enthusiastic today? You didn’t want to see me anytime soon.” Victoria smiled as she walked into the shooting range with a playful look. “Also, you are still injured.”“I am leaving,” Chris responded, adjusting his stance due to his injury.“But that doesn’t mean you have to overwork yourself, you still have to manage a project, don’t you?” Victoria wasn’t surprised that Chris was leaving, she was only worried about him stressing. However, Chris had a question for her. “Why does my father want me back home?” He asked. This was the same way he was told to leave home, without a clue of whatever he was going to do back at home. And now, the same was happening. “I think you should ask him–”“Do you think he is going to tell me?” I cut her off, irritatedly. “No.” She shook her head. “I shouldn't be blamed for that though.”“Yes. Immediately, Chris knew he needed to speak to Ria about what the hell she was planning this time. She never learned her lessons and a part of him started to regret why he spared her life. At the same time, Rico walked in with a frown. “You need to take a rest.” He cautioned Chris however, Chris shook his head and attempted to walk past him. “I need to speak to Ria. That bitch…” Chris cursed but Rico held him back. “I knocked her out…” He said. “She wouldn't stop trashing and trying to attack me…” He explained what happened and Chris finally calmed down. He slowly walked back to the bed, taking deep breaths to calm himself. Immediately, the air turned tense and suffocated not only Ria but also Chris. He looked at the device that had fallen from her pockets, with so much curiosity. It was a phone, one that she wasn't supposed to have. Ria let out a shaky breath as she looked at Chris with a pleading expression. “I can explain.” She whispered. She tried to free herself from Rico’s grip but he held onto her tighter. Chris looked disappointed and curious as to why she had a phone in her hands when she wasn't supposed to have one. “Right…explain…” He nodded at her, while he folded his arms. He signaled for Rico to let her go and Ria fell to her knees, her head bowed slightly. However, for a few more minutes, she kept shaking on the floor. “Speak!” Chris thundered. Ria rushed to get the standby doctor who worked at the base and they quickly rushed to check on Chris. “His wounds are festering…” The doctor complained, as he took out the blood-soaked bandages and cleaned the wounds. “Also, he needs a lot of rest to replenish the blood he lost.
