Sierra's pulse pounded as desperation took over. Without thinking, she lunged forward, gripping the steering wheel with one hand and grabbing Chris's arm with the other, jerking it violently.

The car swerved dangerously, tires screeching against the asphalt.

“Hey! What the hell are you doing?!” Chris yelled, struggling to regain control.

But Sierra refused to let go. She clung to him, twisting his arm and yanking at the wheel in a frantic attempt to stop him.

Chris growled, fighting against her grip, his other hand shoving at her. “Let go, damn it!”

The vehicle skidded sharply to the side, nearly tipping as it veered off course. Chris gritted his teeth, forcefully shoving Sierra away with all his strength. She lost her grip, and he immediately slammed his foot on the brake.

The car jerked to a sudden stop.

Before Sierra could react, a stinging slap cracked across her face.

SMACK!

Her head snapped to the side, slamming against the door. A sharp pain shot through her skull as her vision

As she tried again, the same automated response played: “The number you have dialed is not reachable at the moment.” Betty groaned in frustration, gripping her phone tightly. Could it be that Sierra’s battery had run out? She hoped that was the case, but something about it didn’t sit right with her. Sierra would’ve at least borrowed Chris’s phone to text or call if her phone had died—wouldn’t she? She sighed, running a hand through her hair. “I should have taken Chris’s contact,” she muttered to herself. Now, she had no way of reaching either of them. Betty leaned back on the couch, forcing herself to stay calm. “Let me wait for a little while,” she mumbled. Maybe Sierra would call soon. Maybe she was just busy. But deep down, an unsettling feeling had already started creeping in. About fifteen minutes later, Betty was still waiting, but there was still nothing—no call, no text, no sign of Sierra. Her fingers tapped anxiously against her phone as she stared at the screen, debatin

They kept watching the footage closely, scanning every second for any sign of Sierra inside the store. But nothing. She never entered.Elijah’s frustration grew. His sharp eyes remained locked onto the screen as the footage played. Then, suddenly—"Stop! Stop! Stop!" Elijah ordered. The manager quickly paused the video."Rewind," Elijah said firmly. The footage was rewound a few seconds back."Zoom in.”The manager followed the command, and as the image enlarged, Elijah's sharp gaze locked onto a vehicle that had just passed by on the street. His body tensed instantly. That car.It wasn’t parked. It didn’t stop. It was only caught briefly as it moved past, but Elijah recognized it immediately. His fingers curled into fists."That’s Chris’s car," he said coldly, pointing at the screen. "I saw it that night. I still remember."The others stared at the blurry image. Since the car was at a distance, the footage wasn’t entirely clear.Elijah turned to the manager. "Is there any camera that

His fingers tightened around the cracked device, his jaw clenching as he fought to stay composed. How did her phone end up here? His mind raced through the possibilities. Did she throw it? That could mean she was trying to send a message, trying to get rid of it before something worse happened.Or… did it fall during a struggle? If that was the case, it meant she fought back. That thought made his blood boil.Or worse—was she trying to call for help when they stopped here? And if she was, why was the phone still intact but left behind? His grip on the device shook slightly. Sierra looked at him with anger in her weak eyes but didn’t say anything.Chris nodded, satisfied. "I take it as you understand what I just said."With that, he pulled out his phone and dialed Betty’s number.Meanwhile, Betty sat in the back of the Uber, her leg bouncing anxiously as she stared out at the road. Her mind raced with worry, her fingers gripping her phone tightly. Just then, her phone screen lit up with an incoming call from an unknown number. She quickly answered, bringing the phone to her ear. "Hello?" she said in a low voice."Hello, Betty. Chris here," came a calm voice from the other end.A shiver ran down Betty’s spine, and she quickly straightened up in her seat. "Chris? Chris? Where’s Sierra? Where is she?" she asked, her voice rising in panic."Oh, seems you’re worried," Chris said smoothly. "Don’t worry, she’s here. Do you want to speak to her?"Betty gulped. Elijah stared at the number, wondering what he could do with it. He needed more than just a contact—he needed a way to locate Chris immediately.Just then, his phone buzzed. Isla was calling. He answered instantly. "Have you gotten any information yet?" he asked urgently."Yes, master," Isla responded. "I found it. The car is a 2024 Hyundai Elantra, license plate—" she rattled off the numbers. "But the registered name on the plate isn’t Chris. It’s under someone else’s name."Elijah’s jaw clenched. "So the car doesn’t even belong to him?”"No, master. After a deep search, I found that the vehicle is from a rental company here in New Ember City.""A rental company?" Elijah gritted his teeth. That meant Chris was only borrowing a car to carry out whatever twisted plan he had.He nodded to himself. "Alright, can you help me track a number? I need to know where they’re heading.""I can try," Isla said. "I'll put a call through to someone in your dad’s company who specializes in that. But

Instantly, the digital map updated, revealing a moving arrow, tracing Chris’s exact position in real-time. The car was heading northwest, weaving through the streets of New Ember City."Got him," the man murmured, his fingers swiftly typing as he zoomed in on the details. The tracking system displayed the speed of the vehicle, the street names shifting as Chris moved closer to his destination. The man swiftly transferred the location data to Isla, who immediately forwarded it to Elijah.Elijah's phone buzzed, and he quickly checked the screen. A small smirk formed on his face—he could now see Chris's exact location.“We have them,” he muttered, his grip tightening around the phone. Without wasting a second, he tapped a few buttons and mirrored the location onto the car’s built-in screen. A bright red dot marked Chris’s moving position, while their own vehicle was represented by a blue one.“They’re a bit far,” Elijah noted, eyes scanning the distance. “But now that we have the map…” H

As the towel dropped, Chris stood clad only in his boxers. He approached the bed, tapping Sierra's shoulder. "Look at me," he commanded.Summoning the last reserves of her strength, Sierra opened her eyes, tears streaming down her face. "Please," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Let me go. I won't tell anyone. Just... please."Chris's expression darkened, a cruel smile playing on his lips as he loomed over her, unmoved by her pleas."No, no," Chris murmured, shaking his head as if dismissing her pleas. He lifted her weak hand and pressed three slow kisses against her skin, his lips trailing along her wrist.A sick grin spread across his face as he reached for the zipper of her dress. "Imagine this—the whole new star, Sierra Lane, on my bed. Oh my God," he whispered, his fingers pulling the zipper down inch by inch.Chris slid the dress off her shoulders, letting it glide down her body until it pooled on the bed, leaving only the vest Sierra had underneath. The man’s fingers moved swiftly over his phone screen, snapping a picture of the car and sending it in a flash.Elijah carefully opened the back door of the Prado and placed the beautifully wrapped bouquet—white and red roses mixed with some fresh lilies—gently onto the back seat. The day had moved faster than he expected.Without wasting time, he got into the driver’s seat, buckled up, and started the engine with a soft hum. His voice was calm, but edged with quiet criticism. “When I walked in here, I saw how bad this place looks. It shouldn’t be this way—for a whole police station, with your name and rank tied to it.”Dorson raised a brow, watching him.Elijah continued, “The paint on the walls is peeling like it hasn’t been touched in years. The hallway smells like damp papers and sweat. I passed broken ceiling tiles, exposed wires near the light switch. Some of your officers looked like they haven’t had new uniforms since 2010. Even the floor tiles in the corridor were cracked. Superintendent, you’re a big man—this shouldn’t be your standard.”Dorson’s face tightened s
