Without even glancing at Elijah, Jay turned to the guard, his voice sharp. "What’s going on here? Why are you holding him like that?”

The guard straightened, scrambling to justify himself. "Sir, this young man here... he's a thief! I caught him trying to break into one of the parked cars."

Elijah’s mouth opened in protest, but he held back, curious to see how Jay would respond.

Jason’s gaze narrowed as he looked Elijah over, his expression of doubt and curiosity. “Young man, who are you? You dare to walk into a hotel like this, trying to steal?” His eyes trailed over Elijah’s worn, wet clothes, lingering on the muddy shoes.

Elijah met Jason’s gaze, sensing the respect he had for this man and pushing him to respond calmly.

“I’m here to book a room and spend the night, sir. I was only admiring the cars, and then he ran over with his accusations.” He nodded toward the security guard. “Ask him if I was actually doing anything suspicious.”

Jason paused, studying Elijah, then a

Elijah? He laughed. Not a nervous laugh.A deep, full, amused laugh that echoed around the entire Halden compound.“Hahahaha… oh Aurora Halden…”He slowly spun the sword in his hand——then threw it toward her, letting it land before her feet with a metallic clink.Gasps occurred all around.Elijah pointed at the sword mockingly.“Use that.I’ll use my bare hands.”Aurora blinked once, stunned.Elijah stepped forward, hands behind his back as if offering his neck.“Using my full strength,” he said softly, “would be enough… to make you die from just the wind generated before the strike even touches you.”The courtyard froze. Not a single soul breathed. He tilted his head, smiling in a way that made even Edmund’s spine tingle.“So I won’t use full strength.”He raised one finger.“Else the fight ends before you even blink.”He then spread his arms slightly, taunting.“I dare you. Please… kill me.”Aurora finally exhaled, eyes narrowing into a blade’s edge. She bent down, picked up the sw

His legs trembled beneath him as blood spread down his uniform.Everyone froze.Everyone.Aurora’s scream died in her throat.Edmund’s jaw dropped.Dorain’s breath vanished. The courtyard fell silent — suffocatingly quiet.Elijah leaned close to the dying man and whispered something only he could hear…And then he yanked the blade free, letting the guard collapse like a lifeless sack at his feet.Elijah straightened, sword dripping, eyes cold.Elijah flicked the blood from the sword. He looked at the remaining guards… then at Edmund… then at Aurora… and finally lowered his gaze to the corpse at his feet.Slowly, a smile curled across his lips. He raised his head, his voice deep and unshaken:“You people really thought you could beat me to death?”Silence thickened. The guards tensed, unsure if they should attack or run.Elijah took one step forward, sword casually resting against his shoulder.“I stand undefeated.

Aurora stepped forward abruptly, her sharp heels clicking against the stone — a sudden interruption to the guards’ greedy fantasizing. Her crimson eyes narrowed, analyzing Elijah with the precision of a seasoned strategist.“You three,” she commanded, her voice crisp and authoritative. “Don’t rush him one by one. That’s what the others did — and you saw how they ended up.”The guards stiffened, listening.Aurora pointed at the scarred one first.“You, take his left side. Target his weak spots — knees, ribs, the wrist he uses to strike.”Then she turned to the lean one.“You flank from the right — keep him pressured and off balance. Don’t let him dodge freely.”Finally, she met the youngest guard’s eyes.“And you — go straight for his head. Fast strikes. Don’t give him a second to counter. The moment he focuses on one of you, the other two must strike.”Her tone grew colder.“He’s fast — faster than you’ve seen. So end it before he has time to think.”The guards adjusted their grips, r

The seven shifted, jaws working. One let out a short, bitter laugh. “You think you can buy your way with words?” he snapped. Another spat on the ground. “We don’t make deals with strangers.”For a long second nobody moved — then one of them lunged. The courtyard exploded into motion. The sound of shifting boots filled the courtyard. One man cracked his neck, another rolled his shoulders, and in the next heartbeat—Swoosh!A sword sliced through the air, coming straight for Elijah’s head. He tilted slightly, letting the blade pass just inches from his ear. His hand shot up, catching the attacker’s wrist mid-swing. The man’s eyes widened—then Elijah twisted.Crack! The man’s wrist bent backward unnaturally, and Elijah drove his knee into his chest, sending him sprawling into the stone wall. The next two came together, one with a dagger, the other bare-handed but fast. The dagger flashed toward Elijah’s ribs. He spun away, the blade grazing his shirt, and swept his leg low—Thud! The man

Cars passed slowly, people rushed to work, buses honked in the distance. He reached the main road and stepped closer to the curb.He lifted his hand and hailed a cab.A yellow taxi slowed down immediately and pulled up beside him.Elijah opened the back door and got inside calmly.“Where to?” the driver asked.“Halden Estate.”The driver blinked in the mirror, surprised at the destination.Elijah didn’t explain. He just looked out the window silently as the taxi pulled back into traffic and headed toward the Haldens.Meanwhile, at the Halden Estate, the entire place looked like a small armed camp.Edmund Halden did not take Elijah’s words lightly. From very early in the morning, the Haldens had made arrangements.Every gate was guarded.Men were posted on every corner of the compound. The north lawn had been cleared and turned into an open fighting ground.Extr

Jessica leaned closer to her father, her voice barely above a whisper. “Dad… what’s going on?” she asked, eyes darting between Kane Dravik and Phantom.Shadow shook his head slowly, keeping his gaze fixed on the two men. “I don’t know,” he said quietly, “but if your uncle decides to do something… he definitely has a plan.”Phantom exhaled a thin stream of smoke, his eyes glinting faintly through it. He tilted his head slightly, watching Kane with that same calm expression as the Black Fang boss sat there with his eyes shut, waiting for him to vanish.A faint smirk crossed Phantom’s lips. “You’re really closing your eyes in front of me?” he said dryly. “That’s brave… or stupid. I can’t tell which yet.”The words cut through the silence, and a few of the gang members shifted nervously. Kane’s fingers twitched slightly, his jaw tightening — but he didn’t open his eyes.Phantom took another puff of his cigar, his tone mocking but steady. “Careful, Kane. When some men close their eyes arou
