"Dad, I can explain, someone in there doesn't like me, that is why he called off the contract," Jack pleaded with fear and sadness in his voice.

Bolton looked at him with an expression that seemed like he was going to strike soon. As there was no one else in the room, Jack became even more afraid.

"When did business start relating with those who like you and those who don't?" Bolton asked, clearly pissed off by the illogical excuse given by his waste of a son.

He had wasted a lot of resources on him, even sending him to one of the biggest high schools and colleges, but yet, he still couldn't handle a simple contract.

Bolton's eyes darkened, and the air around them grew heavy. Jack could feel an invisible pressure squeezing him, making it hard to breathe. He knew his father had a way with intimidation, but this was different. It felt otherworldly.

"You have one last chance to tell me the truth, Jack," Bolton's voice was low, almost a growl. "Why did you really lose the contract?"
