Linnie finished dinner about an hour ago and she just relaxed in the living room. She wanted to go upstairs and maybe sleep early, but she also had the urge to just stay in the living room, and she decided to go with the urge of the living room.

Linnie was already used to having dinner alone and most times, going to bed before Luther arrived from the company or wherever he always went after work, because Linnie knew for a fact that when Luther always arrived home was never the time that he usually closed from the company. Initially, she had thought to trail him, but when better and important things came up in her mind, like securing her place in the Kinkaid Distillery Company, she abandoned that thought.

While watching the TV, Linnie’s phone chimed; it was a notification from the blogs. Taking her phone and looking at her screen, Linnie’s eyes widened at what she saw.

“Two Billionaire CEOs seem to be giving us the love vibe! For the longest time, we have not had a power couple who are

Luther stood, frozen in shock at what he had just done. He could not even believe that he was capable of something like that, talk more of actually doing it. The living room was dreadfully quiet, the impact of Luther’s damage hanging over him and Linnie.Linnie also stood, frozen in shock as they both stared at her broken and damaged phone by the wall. The only thing that could be heard from both of them was their breathing, which was as a result of shock. Neither of them ever thought that something like that would ever happen. In a flash of a moment, Luther had become a violent beast and had acted in a way that was erratic and irrational.“Goodness…” Luther said through gasped breath, breaking the ice. Neither of them tore their eyes away from the shattered phone; it was as though they were staring at a scientific resolution and trying to figure out what it might be. “I…I am…sorry,” Luther apologized, stuttering.Linnie swallowed hard. This wasn’t the outcome that she would ever have

“You made the right move, Laxus,” Bowman said to Laxus proudly when Laxus arrived at his house after the close of work and told him everything about his deal with Thaddeus, and also showed him the contract. “You see, I did not have a single doubt about your skill and integrity and intelligence as a business man when I picked you to run that company,” Bowman commended, making Laxus’s head to swell in pride.“I wanted to be certain that you were cool with it,” Laxus said.“Of course, I am,” Bowman said. “Some other dubious businessmen would have taken the poor man’s idea, used it for his own benefit without settling him, but you did not,” Bowman said, and unknown to Laxus, he was referring to Darwin.“I couldn’t have done that,” Laxus said. “Even my conscience wouldn’t have allowed me,” Laxus added in honesty.“In business, a man must be ruthless and dogged when need be, but he must do so with some iota of sense and conscience,” Bowman seconded Laxus. “So you can send him the money and

Laxus spent the entire night going over the proposal knowing that he would have to add his own touch to it. He did not want to pitch all o Thaddeus’s idea without a touch of his own even though he had already bought it completely out of his hands.By morning, he was confident in what he wanted to do. However, being that it was on a Saturday, his chef had to cajole him into having breakfast. Laxus had just sat on the dining chair when Bowman called him.“I was calling to check if you are ready with your pitch,” Bowman said in a fatherly manner that made Laxus almost emotional. “Were you able to go through it as you said?” Bowman asked with concern.“Yes, Bowman, I was,” Laxus answered, feeling better now that he was talking to someone about it. “When do you leave?” Bowman asked.“Abby Golden said the lunch would begin at 12pm, but I ought to be there an hour before the lunch begins to make acquaintances,” Laxus said.It was the professional thing for any businessman to do. Luther would have dressed up happily if he wasn’t going to attend with Linnie. His father had absolutely ruined his chances, and he was angry and bitter.Luther intentionally got dressed overly early so that he might have an excuse for going without Linnie. At least, he could very well tell his father that he left Linnie behind because she was dragging her feet and he did not want to be late.“This would have just been me, Abby, her father, and the man from Zayomi,” Luther grumbled dejectedly.According to what Luther had envisioned, after he had finished pitching to the man from Zayomi, he would then spend ample time in Abby’s presence and also, try to establish a relationship with her father, but with the presence of Linnie now, all that would not be achieved.Luther was further angered and disappointed when he came downstairs and discovered that Linnie was already dressed and waiting for him.“I thought you were going to make us go late,” Linnie said with a coy smile.Luther had to

Laxus thought he was experiencing a movie twist in that very moment, and his lungs lost air to breath. Never did he think that he would find Luther and Linnie, walked in together looking beautiful and perfect together, in the same space. For the first time since his father declared that Luther would be marrying instead.“I honestly had no idea that they were invited by my father,” Abby whispered into Laxus’s ear.She sounded sincere, and Laxus also knew that father and daughter could act differently, but that wasn’t even what was bothering him; it was the fact that he had been stunned to his bones. Seeing Linnie and Luther’s loved-up couple pictures and videos in the blogs had been very hurtful, but Laxus had no idea that seeing them together physically would make him feel this excruciating pain and feeling of betrayal.“It’s fine,” Laxus lied, because what else could he say or do at this point? The only possible action to take would be to withdraw by simply taking his leave, but then

“I will just go and inform my friend that the table is served and we can all eat before you both get to pitch yourselves to him,” Mr. Golden. “You all should fix yourself at the table before I bring him out here,” he added before turning and leaving. Then the entire living room fell completely silent again. If a pin fell to the ground, they would hear it loud and clear, and Linnie was struggling to take her eyes off Laxus. Hopefully, no one would notice that. The last time she saw him physically was at the station when he was arrested, and he hadn’t looked this expensive, handsome, and impeccable. This was the best version of Laxus that Linnie had ever seen, and she wished that he was the one she arrived with as her husband, not Luther who obviously couldn’t take his eyes off Abby and was obviously jealous.Abby was still holding Laxus’s hand.Linnie was very jealous; she did not think that seeing another woman so close to Laxus would make her this jealous, but then again, the only co

Darwin visited the company even though it was on a weekend, and it certainly wasn’t the first time. As he got to the gate, he met the regular security who often guarded the gate during the weekends. As usual, Darwin wound down, brought out a few dollar notes and presented it to the security guard who collected it without saying a word. It was their routine, and they had been in on it for years now, which was why Darwin had refused to fire this particular security guard.“As usual, keep your mouth shut. I was never here,” Darwin told him darkly and he simply nodded as he drove into the company.Everyone else was in their homes, or probably making do with the weekend time that they had, while Darwin sneaked into the Kinkaid Distillery Company. It sounded absurd that a CEO would be sneaking into his own company, but only Darwin understood why he had to go about it like that. There were so many things about the company that the world, didn’t know, and Darwin intended for it to remain that

Luther could barely take his eyes of Abby and Laxus who were sitting close to each other while he had to sit close to Linnie, and the two men; Abby’s father and the man from Zayomi sat at the two ends of the dining table. Abby and Laxus looked so perfect together that it literally tore Luther’s heart to see it.Then Luther received a hard nudge on his thigh from Linnie that almost made him yelp in pain.“Luther, you haven’t said anything about the meal,” Mr. Golden said.It was obvious that he had initially talked to Luther, but because his mind had wandered away, he did not hear a thing, and so Linnie had done him a favor by nudging him back to the present. Luther knew that he was messing things up with his actions, because there was no way a man like Mr. Golden would take him seriously if he continued to act lost in thought, but then again, Luther could not control himself even though he was trying really hard to. “You could have gotten yourself killed, Dragon! Why don’t you ever listen to me?” Bowman scolded Dragon angrily as they sat at the back of Bowman’s car, returning to his mansion.Aside from his obvious anger, Bowman sounded frightened, and for the first time, Dragon felt the man’s tough and fierce love towards him, and it almost melted Dragon’s heart. It was good to know that Bowman felt the same way he felt about him.“I always listen to you,” Dragon said, groaning in pain. His entire body hurt from wrestling with Darwin and the parts where Darwin’s vengeful punches hit him hurt like hell, but he was more than grateful that he wasn’t dead instead.“Darwin could have killed you in a heartbeat and you know it,” Bowman continued.“Well then, let’s be thankful of small miracles like whatever he saw on his damn phone that made him to lose focus for a second,” Dragon said.He sounded nonchalant about what just happened, but deep down, he was shaky and relieved at the same time. • An Escape, Finally

With shaky fingers, Linnie typed a quick message to Darwin and hoped that it would be enough distraction. She could not think of something else that would work effectively in a moment like this.“My men should have killed you when you tried to save Barrister Dickson from my hands, but they were just so incompetent. I am glad that I get to do it myself, and this time around, with a good reason to back it up,” Darwin said as he pointed the gun towards the intruder.Linnie still couldn’t see his face, which she desperately wanted to, because she wanted to see if he was afraid of dying.“Whatever could be a good reason to become a murderer?” The intruder asked. If he was scared and worried for his life, he was perfect at masking it, because he sounded collected and calm, and Linnie wondered how he could have achieved that, being that she was nervous to death from her hiding place.Aside from the fact that she feared that if she got out of this alive, she might have a permanently damaged k

Unable to express her shock and fear by gasping, Linnie’s mouth fell open.Darwin had a gun with him and she doubted that the other man knew this! She had never seen Darwin with a gun before. Heck, she had never even imagined that he was a gun man. Granted, everyone who knew Darwin knew that he was a dangerous man, but a gun? The way he kept the gun between his belt and waist, it was obvious that he was not an amateur. It then dawned on Linnie that the situation was more dire and dangerous than she had thought it was. Now, Linnie was even more afraid for the intruder’s life than she was for herself. At least, Darwin had no idea that she was in his office as well; neither of the men knew that there was a third party, and if she was lucky, none of them would bother themselves with coming around Darwin’s desk. The thought of Darwin shooting and killing someone in her very presence scared the shit out of Linnie, and she realized that she was not even as strong-hearted and cruel as she had

We meet again, Darwin.”Linnie heard the man say, and even though she could not see him, he did not sound anything remotely resembling someone who was afraid, even though he was the intruder.Linnie wasn’t that surprised, because she already knew that assassins and men that did other people’s dirty works did not live in fear or faced obstacles with trembling. They might get scared at a point, but somehow, they had trained themselves never to display any form of fear, especially in situations like this. The only person who was dying of fear was Linnie herself. She could hear her heart thumping loudly and slamming hard against her ribs, and she worried that with the way her heart was beating, Darwin and the intruder would hear. She was worried that the sound of her beating heart which she was hearing in her ears would attract their attention.Linnie tried to steady her racing heart and put her mind to rest, but she could not. She was right in the face of danger, and she had no idea what

  • Room For Three

Dragon entered Darwin’s office and met it quiet and calm as expected; it was late by the way, but something made him wary. He had hoped that he would have some difficulty getting the door to open, but then again, the door had been totally unlocked. He knew that Darwin was not a clumsy man who would carelessly leave his office door open, especially considering the fact that he was hiding something. But then again, he never would have thought that Dragon would maneuver his security and enter his office at night, so it might also be possible that he felt safe enough not to lock his office door properly. Now that he had successfully gained entry into Darwin’s office, Dragon took his cell phone and dialed Bowman’s number.Bowman picked almost immediately, as though he had been waiting for Dragon’s call. Anyway, Dragon suspected that Bowman did not stick to the instruction of resting. Rather, he stayed awake and vigilant, waiting to hear from Dragon.“I have been able to get access into hi

  • Intrusion

Linnie called Darwin and waiting for him to pick up his call. She was calling because she wanted to make sure that she kept records with Darwin. Being the kind of man that he was, Linnie knew without a doubt that if there was a tiny chance that this could swing in her favor, by whichever means, then she would have to let him know what was going on.Darwin picked on the third ring.“What do you want?” He asked grudgingly without waiting for Linnie to say a word after the call connected.“It’s Luther,” Linnie reported. Well, if he wanted to continue being a rude asshole, then she might as well go right to the point. Linnie had no intentions of lingering on the call with him by the way.“What about him? Is he well?” Darwin asked, his voice softening a bit. It was obvious that he cared only about his son, which shouldn’t even come as a surprise to Linnie in the first place.“I think he is seeing Abby Golden,” Linnie reported firmly.“What makes you think that?” Darwin asked impatiently.

  • Wrong Answers

Linnie was fuming after Luther picked up Abby’s call and left their home. She could not believe the level of audacity and disrespect from him, and it was obvious that he did not care about the consequences of such actions. Linnie had been upset, especially with what happened between them, but she had seen it as an opportunity to get what she wanted. If Luther was cheating on her with Abby Golden, that would be grounds for a favorable divorce for Linnie, because she would leave the sham of a marriage with Luther’s share of the Kinkaid inheritance, and she would not have to worry about being poor and wretched for the rest of her life.More, she would not have to deal with Luther or his sick father, Darwin, and she would be free to fight for Laxus’s love, regardless of the fact that he was now married. So, Linnie had called Detective George and had asked him to trail Luther and keep an eye on him, and of course, bring back the one news that Linnie wanted to hear so badly. She hated Abby

  • Any Kind Of Favor

Luther would never allow anything to prevent him from taking Abby’s call, including her stare, so in less than an hour, Luther was driving to see Abby. He was more than ecstatic and hopeful and he could barely wait to get to Abby. At this point, Luther did not care whether or not his repercussions would cause him his inheritance as long as he got what he wanted from Abby.As soon as Luther got to the open restaurant, he hurried into the restaurant, seeking Abby’s table. It was an expensive restaurant, no doubt, but it was also open, so at the end of the day, it couldn’t be termed that they met at a private place, although that was what Luther would have preferred.“Thank you for coming,” Abby said the moment Luther got to her and sat down.“No, Abby, I should be the one thanking you for calling and asking to see me,” Luther said, trying so hard not to sound overly excited. As he looked at Abby, he felt his heart crack. She did not look very happy, and he knew that Laxus’s marriage to
