“I don’t think I am interested,” Laxus said to Bridget without wasting time.

The last thing he wanted was to be in anything that involved Abby Golden.

“Have you been reading the blogs? Just one show, and they are already spreading false news about us,” Laxus said, tight-lipped. “I don’t want that,” he stated vehemently.

Laxus, although an extremely busy man who barely even had time to blink his own eyes, was still abreast of what was going on around, including news, and as usual, gossips and fake news always spread like wildfire. When Laxus came across the gist about a brewing romance between him and Abby, it had left a sour taste in his mouth for hours. He knew that many men would be overjoyed to be around a woman of substance, grit, and power, but that wasn’t just Laxus, and try as much as he could, he could not just force an attraction or likeness that wasn’t there.

“If you will just give me an opportunity to explain what I came up with, sir, you will see how beneficial it will be

Laxus left the company to visit his mother’s gigantic mansion; a place he hadn’t been to since she passed and after her funeral. Not that he did not want to go there, but Laxus knew that he would be too heartbroken should he visit there again, and so he had just taken it out of his mind…until today. When Laxus arrived there, he was surprised to meet a security guard in the gate. He had expected that it would be locked. In Laxus’s mind, he was going to a gigantic mansion that hadn’t been visited in years, because he knew that Luther would never dream of coming here.“I hate it here,” Luther had often whined each time they had had to come for a visit. Their dad had literally had to force Luther. So while Laxus looked forward to every visit and stay at the mansion, Luther dreaded visiting.“She always wants us to make hamburgers and read, and I detest doing those. I just want to focus on playing my games. Anyway, I can’t wait for when I would never have to return here,” Luther would ofte

Thankfully, she was the only one at one. Recently, Luther had begun to show up at the company every single day, which came as a surprise to Linnie, because deep down, she knew that Luther wasn’t doing that with his whole heart.“All that is a façade which he will soon get tired of,” Linnie said to herself with confidence. She had been married to Luther long enough to know that he was only playing by the books more like to spite Linnie and stop his father from ever considering her than actually impressing him. Also, ever since that encounter where they ended up having sex, Linnie was certain that something was goi

“Where are you now?” Bowman asked Dragon over the phone.Dragon was simply waiting around. He had come out of the hospital after his near-death experience, even though his doctor insisted that he was not strong enough, but Dragon did not pay him any mind. As soon as he felt slightly better and the bullet wounds were healing, which was quite fast, he decided to leave. Dragon knew that he could not remain in the hospital longer than necessary. First of all, there were enemies who wanted to see him dead, and laying in a hospital bed would only make him an easy target. Secondly, there were tasks to be carried out, and Dragon was not one to engage in unfinished tasks.“Right where I should be, waiting for him,” Dragon responded to Bowman, looking casually around. No one would suspect a thing; his body was moderately covered, and he was just another regular person hanging around.“Make sure you get him before anyone does, especially that devil, Darwin, or heaven’s forbid, Linnie Kinkaid,” B

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   The Magic word

Laxus stayed longer in his grandmother’s gigantic mansion longer than he expected. When he touched that safe, he had to spend more than an hour trying to decipher the code to the safe lock.He tried multiple times, but none of them was opening the safe.“There has to be a code to the lock,” Laxus said to himself. He knew that he could not just walk away from now having found that his grandmother had a safe. He used to come into the room whenever he stayed with her, but then again, his stay was brief, and he only either came to ask for something or play with his grandmother. Also, the reason why Laxus even stumbled upon the safe lock was as a result of the consistent cleaning, which had made them take out the upper layer of her room’s design. It was probably old and worn out, but Laxus remembered vividly that when it came to cleaning, his grandmother was really particular about cleaning her room by herself. Then, of course, Laxus hadn’t thought anything of it; he was still much younge

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   Box In a Box

Laxus smiled, almost as though he was in disbelief!Never in his wildest dream could he have thought of such a word. He would have spent the entire day, or even weeks in front of the safe box, and he would never have known it.“Well, it is a good thing I can still recall some of our conversations,” Laxus said to himself. As he opened the safe box, it made a rusty sound; an indication that ever since his grandmother passed, no one had touched it. Laxus was impressed at Barrister Dickson. The man literally took proper care of the mansion without violating anything. Not that Laxus had gone round to check around for valuable things, but this was enough confirmation that not only was the lawyer loyal, he also worked with a team of loyal people, because Laxus also knew that some house cleaners and even security guards were prone to stealing.Thinking of Barrister Dickson, Laxus thought that the man needed to really be appreciated. He was beyond impressed at how well the man had maintained t

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   Fruitless Search

Laxus was so frightened and shaken that he could not even leave his grandmother’s premises. He sat down and waited. After a few more minutes, Bowman’s convy drove into the compound; Laxus had called him the instant he regained consciousness, unable to get over what had just happened to him.Bowman got out of the car with agility and vigor and he hurried towards Laxus urgently. His bodyguards, along with Dragon also came out from the other cars and followed Bowman, but they maintained a reasonable distance. As Bowman got close, Laxus was somewhat surprised at the level of fear and dread in his eyes; it was only someone who cared deeply about him that would have that look in his eyes.“What the hell happened?” Bowman asked the moment he got to Laxus. The only thing that Laxus had managed to do was come downstairs and wait outside. Even as Bowman asked the question, he was still too shaky to give an answer. Then Bowman turned to Laxus’s bodyguards and drivers who stood beside Laxus and

Darwin waited anxiously for Luther in his office, and after a few more minutes, the door swung open.“Oh, thank goodness you are already…” Darwin began, but he stopped when he noticed that it was Detective George. “I didn’t send for you,” Darwin said, scrunching his face in displeasure. With the way he was feeling right now, he wasn’t really in the mood to entertain anyone in particular. He had expected that it would be Luther that would stroll in through the door, because he sent Luther on an important mission, and he was nervous as hell. This was the first time that Darwin was sending Luther to handle a situation on his own, because Darwin knew that if he continued to babysit Luther, he would never be strong-hearted and brave enough to take on the company when the time was right. More than anything else in the world, Darwin wanted Luther to become the CEO of Kinkaid Distillery Company, but then again, if he left it to an untrained Luther, it would not survive a month.Killing the do

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   Not The Plan!

Darwin had been able to send Linnie away regardless of how he did it. He had never cared how he treated Linnie, and in fact, the harsher, the better for someone like her.The issue now was what the detective was doing in his office when he was desperately waiting for Luther to return from his assignment.“I asked what you are doing here,” Darwin said rather harshly, but the truth was that he was not in the mood to play nice with anyone, because what he was bothered about was way greater and more serious than anyone’s feelings. If anything went wrong, they were all doomed. With how Luther was even delaying, Darwin was beginning to think that he had made a mistake asking Luther to handle the information that Linnie brought to him. Luther was supposed to be here about thirty minutes ago, and it disturbed Darwin greatly.“I should have handled it myself,” Darwin had been telling himself this since he began worrying about Luther’s delayed return. “Luther is too chicken-hearted and inexperi

  • Room For Three

Dragon entered Darwin’s office and met it quiet and calm as expected; it was late by the way, but something made him wary. He had hoped that he would have some difficulty getting the door to open, but then again, the door had been totally unlocked. He knew that Darwin was not a clumsy man who would carelessly leave his office door open, especially considering the fact that he was hiding something. But then again, he never would have thought that Dragon would maneuver his security and enter his office at night, so it might also be possible that he felt safe enough not to lock his office door properly. Now that he had successfully gained entry into Darwin’s office, Dragon took his cell phone and dialed Bowman’s number.Bowman picked almost immediately, as though he had been waiting for Dragon’s call. Anyway, Dragon suspected that Bowman did not stick to the instruction of resting. Rather, he stayed awake and vigilant, waiting to hear from Dragon.“I have been able to get access into hi

  • Intrusion

Linnie called Darwin and waiting for him to pick up his call. She was calling because she wanted to make sure that she kept records with Darwin. Being the kind of man that he was, Linnie knew without a doubt that if there was a tiny chance that this could swing in her favor, by whichever means, then she would have to let him know what was going on.Darwin picked on the third ring.“What do you want?” He asked grudgingly without waiting for Linnie to say a word after the call connected.“It’s Luther,” Linnie reported. Well, if he wanted to continue being a rude asshole, then she might as well go right to the point. Linnie had no intentions of lingering on the call with him by the way.“What about him? Is he well?” Darwin asked, his voice softening a bit. It was obvious that he cared only about his son, which shouldn’t even come as a surprise to Linnie in the first place.“I think he is seeing Abby Golden,” Linnie reported firmly.“What makes you think that?” Darwin asked impatiently.

  • Wrong Answers

Linnie was fuming after Luther picked up Abby’s call and left their home. She could not believe the level of audacity and disrespect from him, and it was obvious that he did not care about the consequences of such actions. Linnie had been upset, especially with what happened between them, but she had seen it as an opportunity to get what she wanted. If Luther was cheating on her with Abby Golden, that would be grounds for a favorable divorce for Linnie, because she would leave the sham of a marriage with Luther’s share of the Kinkaid inheritance, and she would not have to worry about being poor and wretched for the rest of her life.More, she would not have to deal with Luther or his sick father, Darwin, and she would be free to fight for Laxus’s love, regardless of the fact that he was now married. So, Linnie had called Detective George and had asked him to trail Luther and keep an eye on him, and of course, bring back the one news that Linnie wanted to hear so badly. She hated Abby

  • Any Kind Of Favor

Luther would never allow anything to prevent him from taking Abby’s call, including her stare, so in less than an hour, Luther was driving to see Abby. He was more than ecstatic and hopeful and he could barely wait to get to Abby. At this point, Luther did not care whether or not his repercussions would cause him his inheritance as long as he got what he wanted from Abby.As soon as Luther got to the open restaurant, he hurried into the restaurant, seeking Abby’s table. It was an expensive restaurant, no doubt, but it was also open, so at the end of the day, it couldn’t be termed that they met at a private place, although that was what Luther would have preferred.“Thank you for coming,” Abby said the moment Luther got to her and sat down.“No, Abby, I should be the one thanking you for calling and asking to see me,” Luther said, trying so hard not to sound overly excited. As he looked at Abby, he felt his heart crack. She did not look very happy, and he knew that Laxus’s marriage to

  • Snake Under The Grass

“Good, good,” Bowman said hastily. “It is a good thing that you know me already, so we will just get straight to the point,” Bowman added, intentionally doing so to prevent Barrister Dickson from spilling what Bowman didn’t want anyone to know just yet, including Dragon.“Thank you for sticking it out for me after the attack; I was told,” Barrister Dickson said weakly. “I am sure you did all that for Laxus,” he added.Bowman swallowed. The tone of the lawyer indicated that he might fall into sleep again. Being that they were fortunate to have the man’s brains back, Bowman did not want to take chances. He could sleep and wake up clueless again, but the good thing was that he was far away from Darwin’s knowledge and reach. At least, before Darwin would know of it, Bowman would have gotten what he wanted from the lawyer.“Why does Darwin want you dead?” Bowman asked, going straight to the point. There was still no proof or evidence that it was Darwin who was behind the attack, but still,

  • No More Time

Bowman was more than excited about what Dragon told him. He did not even want to worry about why such important information got to Dragon first, as long as it was good news.“I want to speak with him right now,” Bowman requested firmly.“And you will, but I was told that according to their time zone, you should be able to speak to him in two hours time,” Dragon informed Bowman.“Then let me speak with the doctor,” Bowman said.He could not even hide the fact that he was very relieved. Asking to speak to the doctor just to be sure was not an indication that he did not trust Dragon, and thankfully, Dragon already knew about these things. With Dragon, Bowman did not need to explain himself, which was one of the reasons they had had a good working relationship over the years.Dragon instantly dialed the number and gave it to Bowman who put in on speaker.“How did they get your number anyway?” Bowman asked while they waited for the foreign doctor to take the call.“When Laxus was filling i

  • A Hopeful News

Bowman had just finished with his appointment with the doctor, and he tried not to let the weight of his words sit too long in his heart.“Your condition is getting critical, Bowman.”Those had been his words, and after which he had prescribed some medications to keep Bowman ready for the meantime. Bowman had checked with good hospitals privately, and they had all come out with the same result; heart condition.Bowman stepped out of the hospital slowly, thinking about what the doctor said and still trying to be bold about it. The good thing about staying anonymously powerful, influential and filthy rich was the fact that he could go wherever he wanted to go to without being chased around by nosy bloggers and paparazzi. Bowman was only being discreet because he did not want news of it to get to Laxus yet, even though it was unlikely, being that people did not know that he and Laxus had any relationship or connection whatsoever.Bowman groaned in exasperation when he saw Dragon waiting
