Laxus was the first to wake up and he discovered that he and Nessy were wrapped up in each other’s arms, and the scent of her hair wafted into his nostrils.

The night before had been bliss, and they had both been caught up in the euphoria of it.

They had had sex, drunk wine, eaten, and continued until late in the night when they had both fallen asleep in each other’s arms. It was dawn now, and Laxus did not feel like untangling himself. When he had suggested they got married, Laxus hadn’t envisioned sex as part of the bargain, and maybe that was why neither of them spoke about it. Granted, Laxus had been somewhat attracted to Nessy, especially recently, and that would most likely explain the awkwardness between the two of them, but never had he thought that they would jump into bed with each other as soon as they were alone in the same space.

To be honest, Laxus had spent the other night at Bowman’s because he did not know exactly what to do with a wife or what to say to Nessy. This w

Luther waited at the private hospital lobby with a bouquet of flowers for Abby Golden. He knew that since Abby collapsed at Laxus’s hamburger store opening, she had been resting and recovering at their family’s hospital. Luther was heartbroken that she had fainted on account of Laxus being married to someone else, but then again, he was willing to overlook that. In fact, to Luther, he saw this as an opportunity to win Abby’s love over. She would realize that he would always been with her all the time, contrary to Laxus.Luther quickly drew the attention of a nurse when she passed by where he was sitting, being that he had been sitting there for almost three hours now.“Excuse me, but is Abby Golden still not ready to see anyone?” Luther asked worriedly. He was beginning to worry that he was being deliberately kept waiting for so long. It wasn’t that Abby was in a critical condition. She had merely collapsed, so he could not understand why it was taking this long to see her.“I don’t

Linnie arrived at the company even though Darwin already asked her not to show her face in the company anymore. Well, she would be dumb and stupid to give up easily, especially now that it had dawned on her that many things weren’t really going her way anymore.“Mrs. Linnie Kinkaid,” Darwin’s secretary greeted neutrally as soon as she sighted Linnie, and Linnie responded with a tight smile. In her mind, she had already assumed that Darwin had placed a strict order already to keep her out, although she wasn’t stopped or questioned at the gate or reception, but then again, this was the top floor, only reserved for people whom Darwin had been permitted to come any close.“Mr. Darwin informed us that you would no longer be working here,” she said without being asked, and Linnie almost yanked her hair in annoyance.Clearly, she would be unable to simply just walk in and out without the humiliation of being fired rubbed on her face. Even though the lady sounded very neutral and professional

Linnie entered Darwin’s office and looked around, wondering where she would start looking from. She could be wrong about Darwin hiding the box in his office, but judging from the way he had been acting secretive lately with Linnie, around, her instincts just kept saying that he had something to hide.Whatever the case may be, Linnie knew that she needed to hurry up before Darwin’s secretary would return from the fruitless errand that she sent her to the first floor.“I don’t even have up to five minutes, and I have to ransack and rearrange to avoid suspicions before gets back,” Linnie told herself. Then she got to work immediately. She didn’t go searching in the desk drawers, because Linnie was not foolish enough to think that Darwin would stuff a box into a desk drawer and just leave it lying around. Somewhere, in his office, he would have hidden it from prying eyes like hers.“Damn, such a full office,” Linnie muttered to herself when she started.Being that she had only been in Dar

Linnie could not stop thinking about the letters as she paced about slowly in her bedroom. There was obviously more to this family than she knew. When she was with Laxus, he rarely talked about his mother, and ever since she married Luther, he had not mentioned the woman’s name. In fact, if Linnie hadn’t being with Laxus first, she would not have known anything about their mother, including her name.Katryn Kinkaid.“Was it that Laxus and Luther knew that their mother cheated on their father, Darwin, or fell in love with another man while married to him, and that was why they did not love her?” Linnie pondered in her heart. “Are they angry with her even though she had been dead for decades now?” Linnie asked herself. What was the story surrounding Katryn Kinkaid, Darwin Kinkaid, and this mysterious B.?Linnie desperately wanted to know. She was not sure that she heard Luther correctly.“Are you deaf or something?” Luther asked harshly, his eyes blazing hot with anger.Even though where he stood was a little dark because it was late and Linnie’s bedroom light did not illuminate brightly in that area, she could see and feel his anger and irritation in the core of her bones.“I am not deaf, Luther, but I am wondering if you are drunk,” Linnie said, standing confidently and facing Luther as he slowly entered her room. They had been married long enough now, but Linnie could count the number of times that Luther had entered into her room, as compared to the times that she had entered his.“Maybe getting drunk would have been a better idea, now that you have mentioned it,” Luther spat. “At least, being drunk would make me less aware of being with a woman like you,” Luther added spitefully. His words sliced through Linnie’s heart, but she decided that she would n

Unable to express her shock and fear by gasping, Linnie’s mouth fell open.Darwin had a gun with him and she doubted that the other man knew this! She had never seen Darwin with a gun before. Heck, she had never even imagined that he was a gun man. Granted, everyone who knew Darwin knew that he was a dangerous man, but a gun? At least, Darwin had no idea that she was in his office as well; neither of the men knew that there was a third party, and if she was lucky, none of them would bother themselves with coming around Darwin’s desk. The thought of Darwin shooting and killing someone in her very presence scared the shit out of Linnie, and she realized that she was not even as strong-hearted and cruel as she had

They might get scared at a point, but somehow, they had trained themselves never to display any form of fear, especially in situations like this. The only person who was dying of fear was Linnie herself. She could hear her heart thumping loudly and slamming hard against her ribs, and she worried that with the way her heart was beating, Darwin and the intruder would hear. • Room For Three

Dragon entered Darwin’s office and met it quiet and calm as expected; it was late by the way, but something made him wary. He had hoped that he would have some difficulty getting the door to open, but then again, the door had been totally unlocked. He knew that Darwin was not a clumsy man who would carelessly leave his office door open, especially considering the fact that he was hiding something. But then again, he never would have thought that Dragon would maneuver his security and enter his office at night, so it might also be possible that he felt safe enough not to lock his office door properly. Now that he had successfully gained entry into Darwin’s office, Dragon took his cell phone and dialed Bowman’s number.Bowman picked almost immediately, as though he had been waiting for Dragon’s call. Anyway, Dragon suspected that Bowman did not stick to the instruction of resting. Rather, he stayed awake and vigilant, waiting to hear from Dragon.“I have been able to get access into hi

  • Intrusion

Linnie called Darwin and waiting for him to pick up his call. She was calling because she wanted to make sure that she kept records with Darwin. Being the kind of man that he was, Linnie knew without a doubt that if there was a tiny chance that this could swing in her favor, by whichever means, then she would have to let him know what was going on.Darwin picked on the third ring.“What do you want?” He asked grudgingly without waiting for Linnie to say a word after the call connected.“It’s Luther,” Linnie reported. Well, if he wanted to continue being a rude asshole, then she might as well go right to the point. Linnie had no intentions of lingering on the call with him by the way.“What about him? Is he well?” Darwin asked, his voice softening a bit. It was obvious that he cared only about his son, which shouldn’t even come as a surprise to Linnie in the first place.“I think he is seeing Abby Golden,” Linnie reported firmly.“What makes you think that?” Darwin asked impatiently.

  • Wrong Answers

Linnie was fuming after Luther picked up Abby’s call and left their home. She could not believe the level of audacity and disrespect from him, and it was obvious that he did not care about the consequences of such actions. Linnie had been upset, especially with what happened between them, but she had seen it as an opportunity to get what she wanted. If Luther was cheating on her with Abby Golden, that would be grounds for a favorable divorce for Linnie, because she would leave the sham of a marriage with Luther’s share of the Kinkaid inheritance, and she would not have to worry about being poor and wretched for the rest of her life.More, she would not have to deal with Luther or his sick father, Darwin, and she would be free to fight for Laxus’s love, regardless of the fact that he was now married. So, Linnie had called Detective George and had asked him to trail Luther and keep an eye on him, and of course, bring back the one news that Linnie wanted to hear so badly. She hated Abby

At this point, Luther did not care whether or not his repercussions would cause him his inheritance as long as he got what he wanted from Abby.As soon as Luther got to the open restaurant, he hurried into the restaurant, seeking Abby’s table. It was an expensive restaurant, no doubt, but it was also open, so at the end of the day, it couldn’t be termed that they met at a private place, although that was what Luther would have preferred.“Thank you for coming,” Abby said the moment Luther got to her and sat down.“No, Abby, I should be the one thanking you for calling and asking to see me,” Luther said, trying so hard not to sound overly excited. As he looked at Abby, he felt his heart crack. She did not look very happy, and he knew that Laxus’s marriage to

“Good, good,” Bowman said hastily. “It is a good thing that you know me already, so we will just get straight to the point,” Bowman added, intentionally doing so to prevent Barrister Dickson from spilling what Bowman didn’t want anyone to know just yet, including Dragon.“Thank you for sticking it out for me after the attack; I was told,” Barrister Dickson said weakly. “I am sure you did all that for Laxus,” he added.Bowman swallowed. The tone of the lawyer indicated that he might fall into sleep again. Being that they were fortunate to have the man’s brains back, Bowman did not want to take chances. He could sleep and wake up clueless again, but the good thing was that he was far away from Darwin’s knowledge and reach. At least, before Darwin would know of it, Bowman would have gotten what he wanted from the lawyer.“Why does Darwin want you dead?” Bowman asked, going straight to the point. There was still no proof or evidence that it was Darwin who was behind the attack, but still,
