Laxus walked into a bar, feeling broken. He slumped onto a barstool. ""My strongest drink,"" he muttered.
The bartender handed him a bottle, and Laxus drank straight from it, taking large gulps.
"What’s a Kinkaid doing here?" a voice taunted behind him.
Laxus ignored it, focusing on his drink.
"Oh wait, he’s not really a Kinkaid," the voice mocked again, followed by laughter.
Laxus snapped. He smashed the bottle into the man’s face, and a brawl erupted. Fueled by anger and alcohol, Laxus lashed out at anyone who got in his way.
Eventually, he stumbled out of the bar, bloodied but determined. He wasn’t going to take any more abuse.
He got into his car and drove straight into the bar, crashing through the front.
The bar was rendered into ruins as Laxus struggled to exit the car, and just as he managed to do just that, the car exploded, sending him flying across the street.
Laxus heard voices and sirens, which made him struggle to open his eyes. He adjusted to the bright light as his vision cleared. His ears were ringing, and his head pounded so badly it felt like it might fall off his neck.
"Oww," he groaned, feeling pain all over. The taste of blood in his mouth told him he was hurt.
A nurse hurried into the room when she heard him. "Are you okay, sir?" she asked, helping him sit up despite his attempts to push her away.
""What happened? I’m fine, really, just… don’t touch me,"" he managed to say. As the nurse helped him sit up, he looked around, confused and in pain.
He remembered the bar vividly. "Apparently, some drunk guy crashed into the bar with his car last night," the nurse explained as she handed him a bottle of water. "Luckily, no one died, but there were a lot of injuries."
Laxus drank the water, feeling a bit better as his throat wasn’t so dry. He noticed he’d been bandaged up and decided to leave before anyone recognized him as the cause of the crash.
As he walked out of the hospital, reporters swarmed him.
"Mr. Laxus! Mr. Laxus Kinkaid!"" they called out, cameras flashing all around.
"Did you cause the accident?" one reporter asked.
"Does the car belong to you?" another questioned.
""Some of the eyewitnesses said you started the fight at the bar by attacking a defenseless man. Is that true?""
"Shut up..." Laxus muttered to himself softly. But alas, the questions kept coming in.
""How do you plan on taking responsibility for this? Will you pay the hospital costs?""
Why aren't any of your family members here for you? Were you disowned?""
"Shut up..."
""How do you think this will affect your wedding? Some of our sources believe that your wedding was called off. Is that the trigger for why you lashed out at an innocent man in the bar?""
Laxus had enough.
"Will you shut your dirty gutter traps!?" He shoved the nearest reporter, brushing past them.
"Taxy!" He hailed a taxi, leaving the reporters speechless.
Laxus reached the Kinkaid mansion late in the evening. He hoped to slip in quietly, but as soon as he entered, he saw his father waiting for him in the grand foyer. Mr. Darwin stood with his arms crossed, his face hard and unforgiving.
"Laxus, how long will you keep dragging this family through the mud?" Mr. Darwin’s voice was low, but the anger behind it was clear.
Without waiting for a response, Mr. Darwin pointed at the television in the corner, where the news showed footage of the incident from last night. ""Do you have any idea what you've done? How much do you cost us?""
Laxus glanced at the screen, taking in the damage he'd caused. He knew he had messed up, but the weight of his father's words made him feel even worse. He didn't try to defend himself. Instead, he turned to head upstairs, hoping to avoid a full confrontation.
"Don't you dare walk away from me!" Mr. Darwin’s command echoed through the mansion.
Laxus paused but didn't turn around. ""What do you want me to say? That I'm sorry? It won't change anything, and we both know you won't let this go.""
Mr. Darwin's eyes narrowed, his face contorting with fury. ""What did I expect from the child of a prostitute? This is why you'll never inherit a dime from me.""
Those words hit Laxus like a slap. He spun around, anger flashing in his eyes. ""Is that how you see me? The son of a nobody, a mistake from a one-night stand?""
His voice grew louder as the hurt he had buried for years finally broke free. ""I've always known I wasn't good enough for you. Not like your precious Luther, the perfect son. He can do no wrong, right? But me? One mistake, and you strip everything away from me.""
Mr. Darwin opened his mouth to speak, but Laxus cut him off. ""No, let me finish. I've done everything you asked, tried to be the son you wanted, but nothing was ever enough for you. What more do you want from me?""
Laxus’s voice cracked, and he fought to keep the tears from spilling over. He could feel the weight of his father’s rejection pressing down on him, suffocating him. He had hoped for some sign of affection, some acknowledgment that he mattered, but it was clear now that there was nothing for him there.
Without another word, Laxus turned away from his father. This time, he walked toward the front door.
""Laxus, if you leave this house, don't ever come back. You’re no longer a Kinkaid."" Mr. Darwin’s voice was cold, final.
Laxus didn’t hesitate. He pulled the door open and stepped outside, letting it slam shut behind him. He had nothing with him but the clothes on his back, but he didn’t care. As he walked down the driveway, he felt the weight of his father's words still hanging over him.
He flagged down a cab, got in, and as the car pulled away from the mansion, a single tear finally escaped. There was no going back now.

Rise Of The Rightful Heir Walking In A Stranger's Mansion
Laxus woke up with a severe hangover. He could not remember the last time he got himself this drunk. Actually, the last time had been when he was still living with his family and some days had been harder than others. On those days, Laxus would hide away and soak himself in something strong to make him forget his problems. In all honesty, Laxus had also hated himself times when he had to drink himself into forgetting the kind of family he came from, but since he left home, he hadn’t taken a single sip of alcohol until he stumbled upon the family pictures online.“Ugh, my head hurts,” Laxus cussed. He would have appreciated a steamy cup of coffee with only sugar, no cream; that was his specialty. Apart from the fact that Laxus liked to have that every morning, it also made his hangover less torturous. Then Laxus looked around him. “Damn, where the heck am I?” he asked no one else but himself. The room reminded Laxus of the Kinkaid mansion. For a minute, Laxus thought he was right bac

“I know I messed up last night, and I am deeply sorry,” Laxus started to plead immediately. If he was lucky enough, this man would not report his misbehavior to Mr. Henry, Laxus’s boss. The man smiled and walked fully into the room. Then he settled himself comfortably on the settee that was just beside the bed.“You did not mess up last night,” the man said.Laxus was not a fool, neither was he a child. He knew that he must definitely have done something inappropriate the night before; maybe talk too much, dance on the bar table, spill his drink, throw up, or even worse, talk rudely at one of the restaurant’s biggest customers. One report and Laxus knew that he was done for.“I know I did,” Laxus insisted, “You are just trying to make me feel better,” Laxus said. He knew how most people like this operated. Room For Three
Dragon entered Darwin’s office and met it quiet and calm as expected; it was late by the way, but something made him wary. He had hoped that he would have some difficulty getting the door to open, but then again, the door had been totally unlocked. He knew that Darwin was not a clumsy man who would carelessly leave his office door open, especially considering the fact that he was hiding something. But then again, he never would have thought that Dragon would maneuver his security and enter his office at night, so it might also be possible that he felt safe enough not to lock his office door properly. Now that he had successfully gained entry into Darwin’s office, Dragon took his cell phone and dialed Bowman’s number.Bowman picked almost immediately, as though he had been waiting for Dragon’s call. Anyway, Dragon suspected that Bowman did not stick to the instruction of resting. Rather, he stayed awake and vigilant, waiting to hear from Dragon.“I have been able to get access into hi
Intrusion
Linnie called Darwin and waiting for him to pick up his call. She was calling because she wanted to make sure that she kept records with Darwin. Being the kind of man that he was, Linnie knew without a doubt that if there was a tiny chance that this could swing in her favor, by whichever means, then she would have to let him know what was going on.Darwin picked on the third ring.“What do you want?” He asked grudgingly without waiting for Linnie to say a word after the call connected.“It’s Luther,” Linnie reported. Well, if he wanted to continue being a rude asshole, then she might as well go right to the point. Linnie had no intentions of lingering on the call with him by the way.“What about him? Is he well?” Darwin asked, his voice softening a bit. It was obvious that he cared only about his son, which shouldn’t even come as a surprise to Linnie in the first place.“I think he is seeing Abby Golden,” Linnie reported firmly.“What makes you think that?” Darwin asked impatiently.
Wrong Answers
Linnie was fuming after Luther picked up Abby’s call and left their home. She could not believe the level of audacity and disrespect from him, and it was obvious that he did not care about the consequences of such actions. Linnie had been upset, especially with what happened between them, but she had seen it as an opportunity to get what she wanted. If Luther was cheating on her with Abby Golden, that would be grounds for a favorable divorce for Linnie, because she would leave the sham of a marriage with Luther’s share of the Kinkaid inheritance, and she would not have to worry about being poor and wretched for the rest of her life.More, she would not have to deal with Luther or his sick father, Darwin, and she would be free to fight for Laxus’s love, regardless of the fact that he was now married. So, Linnie had called Detective George and had asked him to trail Luther and keep an eye on him, and of course, bring back the one news that Linnie wanted to hear so badly. She hated Abby
Any Kind Of Favor
Luther would never allow anything to prevent him from taking Abby’s call, including her stare, so in less than an hour, Luther was driving to see Abby. He was more than ecstatic and hopeful and he could barely wait to get to Abby. At this point, Luther did not care whether or not his repercussions would cause him his inheritance as long as he got what he wanted from Abby.As soon as Luther got to the open restaurant, he hurried into the restaurant, seeking Abby’s table. It was an expensive restaurant, no doubt, but it was also open, so at the end of the day, it couldn’t be termed that they met at a private place, although that was what Luther would have preferred.“Thank you for coming,” Abby said the moment Luther got to her and sat down.“No, Abby, I should be the one thanking you for calling and asking to see me,” Luther said, trying so hard not to sound overly excited. As he looked at Abby, he felt his heart crack. She did not look very happy, and he knew that Laxus’s marriage to

Laxus’s convoy was at the airport to pick them up as soon as their flight landed. Since Nessy said what she said, Laxus had been unable to get through to her. It was almost as though she had turned into a stone that could not be penetrated, and it broke Laxus’s heart that they would become this sort of couple. As soon as they got outside the airport and headed towards their car, bloggers and paparazzi gathered around them like flies to a moth.“Welcome back, Mr. Laxus and Mrs. Nessy!” “How was your trip?”“Mr. Laxus, did you get to sign the contract?”“Mrs. Nessy, how does being the wife of Mr. Laxus feel?”Questions kept flying from different angles and corners as Laxus’s bodyguards tried to shield them from the nosiness of the reporters. Laxus noticed that Nessy had gradually held his hand. He was so caught up with trying to avoid the bloggers that he hadn’t when Nessy had taken his hand.Laxus did not resist her hold onto him.Camera lights flashed in their eyes as the bloggers an

Luther felt like a piece of trash at dawn, and as he returned to his bedroom, he had tears in his eyes.He had never hated sleeping with anyone the way he hated doing so with Linnie. He got washed up and went downstairs for breakfast sooner than usual, because he wanted to get away from the house. Snake Under The Grass
“Good, good,” Bowman said hastily. “It is a good thing that you know me already, so we will just get straight to the point,” Bowman added, intentionally doing so to prevent Barrister Dickson from spilling what Bowman didn’t want anyone to know just yet, including Dragon.“Thank you for sticking it out for me after the attack; I was told,” Barrister Dickson said weakly. “I am sure you did all that for Laxus,” he added.Bowman swallowed. The tone of the lawyer indicated that he might fall into sleep again. Being that they were fortunate to have the man’s brains back, Bowman did not want to take chances. He could sleep and wake up clueless again, but the good thing was that he was far away from Darwin’s knowledge and reach. At least, before Darwin would know of it, Bowman would have gotten what he wanted from the lawyer.“Why does Darwin want you dead?” Bowman asked, going straight to the point. There was still no proof or evidence that it was Darwin who was behind the attack, but still,
No More Time
Bowman was more than excited about what Dragon told him. He did not even want to worry about why such important information got to Dragon first, as long as it was good news.“I want to speak with him right now,” Bowman requested firmly.“And you will, but I was told that according to their time zone, you should be able to speak to him in two hours time,” Dragon informed Bowman.“Then let me speak with the doctor,” Bowman said.He could not even hide the fact that he was very relieved. Asking to speak to the doctor just to be sure was not an indication that he did not trust Dragon, and thankfully, Dragon already knew about these things. With Dragon, Bowman did not need to explain himself, which was one of the reasons they had had a good working relationship over the years.Dragon instantly dialed the number and gave it to Bowman who put in on speaker.“How did they get your number anyway?” Bowman asked while they waited for the foreign doctor to take the call.“When Laxus was filling i
A Hopeful News
Bowman had just finished with his appointment with the doctor, and he tried not to let the weight of his words sit too long in his heart.“Your condition is getting critical, Bowman.”Those had been his words, and after which he had prescribed some medications to keep Bowman ready for the meantime. Bowman had checked with good hospitals privately, and they had all come out with the same result; heart condition.Bowman stepped out of the hospital slowly, thinking about what the doctor said and still trying to be bold about it. The good thing about staying anonymously powerful, influential and filthy rich was the fact that he could go wherever he wanted to go to without being chased around by nosy bloggers and paparazzi. Bowman was only being discreet because he did not want news of it to get to Laxus yet, even though it was unlikely, being that people did not know that he and Laxus had any relationship or connection whatsoever.Bowman groaned in exasperation when he saw Dragon waiting
