Laxus arrived at work and went about his regular company tour as usual with Bridget following behind, but Laxus deliberately did not go towards the hamburger store, and he also refused to talk about it.

After that, he went right back to his office, and Bridget also went in with him to inform him about his schedules for the day.

“Bridget, I need you to set a reminder regarding a meeting with the Zayomi company for mid-noon today. We would be having the meeting via a Google meeting, being that it is the first time,” Laxus informed her.

After he was declared the winner, a few hours later, even though it was on a Saturday, he had received a congratulatory message from the Zayomi company and also an offer for a meeting on Monday to talk more about the contract and how it would be implemented.

Bridget’s eyes popped open in awe. “The Zayomi company?” Bridget could not help but ask.

“Yes,” Laxus answered, looking at Bridget and seeing the raw and pure awe in her eyes. “You know the company?”

Linnie was still feeling like she was riding in the clouds that day. Darwin had gone ahead and introduced her to the important staff members as the company’s new employee, and they all welcomed her with professionalism and respect.Linnie could see that Luther was boiling with fury and jealousy, and it made her happier. After having a brief meeting with the senior associates in the company, which was Linnie’s first, Darwin asked her and Luther to go with him to his office. So far, Linnie had acted like a very diligent and reserved classy woman. She made sure that she did not go out of line by saying what she wasn’t supposed to say or doing what she was not supposed to do. Even in the brief meeting, she simply listened to everything Darwin had to tell everyone. No one spoke, even when Darwin asked if there were questions or contributions. Thankfully, Linnie was smart and observant enough to know that no one was supposed to say anything or ask any questions. The moment they got into Da

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   Spurred By Thoughtful Gesture

Laxus was the first to catch himself and clear his throat, because he suddenly realized that Bridget was standing right behind him. Then he walked into the store and Bridget followed.“Good morning, Mr. Laxus,” Nessy equally cleared her throat and greeted professionally.Meanwhile, Bridget threw Nessy a disgusting look, but Laxus did not notice it, because his full attention was glued on Nessy and how she looked standing right in his hamburger store, in that apron, and looking beautiful. Ironically, Laxus had never seen Nessy that way before when they worked for Mr. Henry, or maybe he was too carried away with trying to work so hard so that he would be able to afford basic needs, and also, Linnie and Luther’s betrayal was still very fresh in his heart.“You can drop the formality, Nessy; I have repeatedly told you this,” Laxus said, not minding that Bridget was standing right there.“This is a formal place, sir,” Nessy said, reminding Laxus. She seemed rather uncomfortable to Laxus, a

Linnie and Luther sat at the back of one of their cars as their driver followed Darwin’s car closely behind. In less than an hour, Darwin had summoned the presence of Detective George; to make Thaddeus think of it less as a threat-visit. Then after Detective George arrived, he and Darwin got into Darwin’s car while Darwin drove.“There will not be any need for convoys; they will only draw unnecessary attention to us. We are going to go over to him and handle this discreetly,” Darwin had told them.Thankfully, Darwin hadn’t frowned at Luther and Linnie using one of their cars or drivers, because Luther was boiling in anger and jealousy. He was angry for so many things, knowing that he had created this situation with his own hands. The last thing he ever wanted was to have Linnie, whom he knew as a desperate and blood-sucking bitch to become a part of the company. Luther was willing to do anything to keep her as a childless trophy Kinkaid housewife, but now, all that had changed. Then h

“Dad, why does she have to be the one to do it?” Luther asked angrily, facing Darwin.“When I asked you what was to be done, what was your response?” Darwin asked Luther who reared his head back in embarrassment.Worse, he heard Linnie snigger. Right there and then, Luther wanted to tell his father that he would no longer be going in with them; since his father had now begun to relegate tasks to Linnie, he might as well make himself unavailable. Besides, he even wanted to be elsewhere desperately.“We are all going in there, and Linnie is going to prove her worth,” Darwin declared boldly, making Luther’s desire of leaving now impossible. “Now, everyone, come with me let’s go and fix this shit,” Darwin said as he matched towards the front door.Detective George followed immediately, and just when Linnie also moved her feet to follow too, Luther grabbed her arm roughly, but Linnie did not yelp in pain.“I hope you fail woefully,” Luther said through gritted teeth.Linnie looked at him a

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   New Interest

Linnie sipped her glass of brandy and relaxed at their secluded spot as she waited for Bridget to show up. If Bridget hadn’t said that they needed to meet urgently, she would have gladly celebrated the best day of her life at home. On a second thought, maybe here was even better, because a sulking and jealous Luther would have tried everything possible to ruin her good mood.“I knew you would amount to something,” Linnie told herself. She was having the most expensive brandy in the bar, and she was extremely happy. It was a little bit late, and she wanted to have the evening all to herself. Hopefully, Luther would not ruin things for her by calling her. She had smashed the assignment Darwin had given her, because she had been able to get Thaddeus on their team, even easier than she had anticipated, and for the first time, Darwin had openly declared that he was proud of her.“You have done excellently well, Linnie, and I must admit that you have made me prouder than I have been in a r

Luther drive straight to Abby’s mining company the moment they closed from work. He was itching all day to leave the company, but unlike before, he could not just stand up and leave, knowing that he now had a competitor, and Linnie would be glad if he did anything that made him look bad or incompetent in front of his father.Luther still had intentions to speak with his father regarding hiring Linnie, but for now, he just wanted to see Abby and be happy.“You will have to wait for a moment, sir, because Miss Abby Golden is having an important meeting and she is not to be disturbed,” Abby’s secretary had told Luther.“I will wait for as long as it takes,” Luther had responded. So Luther had sat down and waited patiently, anticipating his meeting and rehearsing what he would say and not say in Abby’s presence. Laxus had already informed her that it would be next week, being that they would still have to employ some workers for various tasks and finish setting up the store.Nessy was very happy! After everything that she had been through, she could not believe that luck was shining on her, and also, she had a good apartment to go back to after work. • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   Two Major Enemies

Luther drove back home like a wounded beast. Even though the conversation had just been between himself and Abby Golden, he had felt insulted and humiliated. Maybe he would not have won the contract with the Zayomi man, but he would have at least given it his best shot, and now, he had lost on both sides.“She prefers Laxus over me,” Luther said to himself angrily and bitterly.First, he had to marry a woman that Laxus had already been with, which was like marrying a hand-me-down woman, and now, the one woman that Luther loved dearly, Laxus wanted to steal her away as well. Luther was certain that if Laxus wasn’t in the picture at all, he would have had his chance with Abby, regardless of his marital status.“He is the more brilliant son, the more loved and favored grandson when granny was alive, and now, he is getting everything he wanted,” Luther continued to talk to himself hatefully. He was sick and tired of being rejected and Laxus being accepted. • Room For Three

Dragon entered Darwin’s office and met it quiet and calm as expected; it was late by the way, but something made him wary. He had hoped that he would have some difficulty getting the door to open, but then again, the door had been totally unlocked. He knew that Darwin was not a clumsy man who would carelessly leave his office door open, especially considering the fact that he was hiding something. But then again, he never would have thought that Dragon would maneuver his security and enter his office at night, so it might also be possible that he felt safe enough not to lock his office door properly. Now that he had successfully gained entry into Darwin’s office, Dragon took his cell phone and dialed Bowman’s number.Bowman picked almost immediately, as though he had been waiting for Dragon’s call. Anyway, Dragon suspected that Bowman did not stick to the instruction of resting. Rather, he stayed awake and vigilant, waiting to hear from Dragon.“I have been able to get access into hi

  • Intrusion

Linnie called Darwin and waiting for him to pick up his call. She was calling because she wanted to make sure that she kept records with Darwin. Being the kind of man that he was, Linnie knew without a doubt that if there was a tiny chance that this could swing in her favor, by whichever means, then she would have to let him know what was going on.Darwin picked on the third ring.“What do you want?” He asked grudgingly without waiting for Linnie to say a word after the call connected.“It’s Luther,” Linnie reported. Well, if he wanted to continue being a rude asshole, then she might as well go right to the point. Linnie had no intentions of lingering on the call with him by the way.“What about him? Is he well?” Darwin asked, his voice softening a bit. It was obvious that he cared only about his son, which shouldn’t even come as a surprise to Linnie in the first place.“I think he is seeing Abby Golden,” Linnie reported firmly.“What makes you think that?” Darwin asked impatiently.

  • Wrong Answers

Linnie was fuming after Luther picked up Abby’s call and left their home. She could not believe the level of audacity and disrespect from him, and it was obvious that he did not care about the consequences of such actions. Linnie had been upset, especially with what happened between them, but she had seen it as an opportunity to get what she wanted. If Luther was cheating on her with Abby Golden, that would be grounds for a favorable divorce for Linnie, because she would leave the sham of a marriage with Luther’s share of the Kinkaid inheritance, and she would not have to worry about being poor and wretched for the rest of her life.More, she would not have to deal with Luther or his sick father, Darwin, and she would be free to fight for Laxus’s love, regardless of the fact that he was now married. So, Linnie had called Detective George and had asked him to trail Luther and keep an eye on him, and of course, bring back the one news that Linnie wanted to hear so badly. She hated Abby

At this point, Luther did not care whether or not his repercussions would cause him his inheritance as long as he got what he wanted from Abby.As soon as Luther got to the open restaurant, he hurried into the restaurant, seeking Abby’s table. It was an expensive restaurant, no doubt, but it was also open, so at the end of the day, it couldn’t be termed that they met at a private place, although that was what Luther would have preferred.“Thank you for coming,” Abby said the moment Luther got to her and sat down.“No, Abby, I should be the one thanking you for calling and asking to see me,” Luther said, trying so hard not to sound overly excited. As he looked at Abby, he felt his heart crack. She did not look very happy, and he knew that Laxus’s marriage to

It was almost as though she had turned into a stone that could not be penetrated, and it broke Laxus’s heart that they would become this sort of couple. As soon as they got outside the airport and headed towards their car, bloggers and paparazzi gathered around them like flies to a moth.“Welcome back, Mr. Laxus and Mrs. Nessy!” “How was your trip?”“Mr. Laxus, did you get to sign the contract?”“Mrs. Nessy, how does being the wife of Mr. Laxus feel?”Questions kept flying from different angles and corners as Laxus’s bodyguards tried to shield them from the nosiness of the reporters. Laxus noticed that Nessy had gradually held his hand. He was so caught up with trying to avoid the bloggers that he hadn’t when Nessy had taken his hand.Laxus did not resist her hold onto him.Camera lights flashed in their eyes as the bloggers an

  • Snake Under The Grass

“Good, good,” Bowman said hastily. “It is a good thing that you know me already, so we will just get straight to the point,” Bowman added, intentionally doing so to prevent Barrister Dickson from spilling what Bowman didn’t want anyone to know just yet, including Dragon.“Thank you for sticking it out for me after the attack; I was told,” Barrister Dickson said weakly. “I am sure you did all that for Laxus,” he added.Bowman swallowed. The tone of the lawyer indicated that he might fall into sleep again. Being that they were fortunate to have the man’s brains back, Bowman did not want to take chances. He could sleep and wake up clueless again, but the good thing was that he was far away from Darwin’s knowledge and reach. At least, before Darwin would know of it, Bowman would have gotten what he wanted from the lawyer.“Why does Darwin want you dead?” Bowman asked, going straight to the point. There was still no proof or evidence that it was Darwin who was behind the attack, but still,

  • No More Time

Bowman was more than excited about what Dragon told him. He did not even want to worry about why such important information got to Dragon first, as long as it was good news.“I want to speak with him right now,” Bowman requested firmly.“And you will, but I was told that according to their time zone, you should be able to speak to him in two hours time,” Dragon informed Bowman.“Then let me speak with the doctor,” Bowman said.He could not even hide the fact that he was very relieved. Asking to speak to the doctor just to be sure was not an indication that he did not trust Dragon, and thankfully, Dragon already knew about these things. With Dragon, Bowman did not need to explain himself, which was one of the reasons they had had a good working relationship over the years.Dragon instantly dialed the number and gave it to Bowman who put in on speaker.“How did they get your number anyway?” Bowman asked while they waited for the foreign doctor to take the call.“When Laxus was filling i

  • A Hopeful News

Bowman had just finished with his appointment with the doctor, and he tried not to let the weight of his words sit too long in his heart.“Your condition is getting critical, Bowman.”Those had been his words, and after which he had prescribed some medications to keep Bowman ready for the meantime. Bowman had checked with good hospitals privately, and they had all come out with the same result; heart condition.Bowman stepped out of the hospital slowly, thinking about what the doctor said and still trying to be bold about it. The good thing about staying anonymously powerful, influential and filthy rich was the fact that he could go wherever he wanted to go to without being chased around by nosy bloggers and paparazzi. Bowman was only being discreet because he did not want news of it to get to Laxus yet, even though it was unlikely, being that people did not know that he and Laxus had any relationship or connection whatsoever.Bowman groaned in exasperation when he saw Dragon waiting
