After his conversation with Nessy, while Laxus appreciated the fact that she did not rope him in even though she could have easily done so just to set herself free, Laxus decided that he would rather stay away from Nessy.

Not that she was a bad person, but Laxus realized that Linnie was now trying to use Nessy to get to him, so the earlier he detached himself from her, the better off he might be.

Regardless of what was going on, Laxus needed a job, and he needed one really fast. He was very broke and penniless now, and in one time, if he did not get a job, he might starve to death. Laxus knew that it would be difficult getting a job without proper recommendation, and worse now that he already had a prison record, so he decided to go for menial jobs. It would not meet most of his needs and get him a new apartment, but it would put food on his table for now.

Also, Laxus would live in a rock, away from his manipulative and callous family if push comes to shoves.

Laxus arrived in Bowman’s house being driven by his driver and bodyguard in the front seat.Laxus hated to be here, but then again, he would rather face a harmless Bowman and tell him to his face once again that he wasn’t interested in his offer, and that he would never be interested, rather than face another rigorous interrogative section with a detective who wanted nothing but to see Laxus jailed for something he did not do.Laxus had been somewhat satisfied when he caught the detective’s regretful face as he watched Laxus jump into Bowman’s car and the driver drove off at top speed, but that satisfaction had long expired when Laxus realized that he was not going to a place he liked either.“Please, come out of the car,” the bodyguard said. He had opened the door for more than five minutes now, but Laxus hadn’t made a move to get down from the car, so he had to say the words.“I want to leave,” Laxus demanded. It was a ridiculous thing to say, especially with the way he had jumped i

“I already have everything in motion, so all you just need to do is take your position as the CEO,” Bowman explained.Laxus still stared at Bowman like a zombie as his rejection words died in his throat. “CEO?” Laxus asked. He was not dumb; becoming the CEO wasn’t the same thing as overseeing it. If one was the CEO of any establishment, just like his father, it meant that the person had full or half ownership of that establishment. Bowman’s word had been for Laxus to oversee it, and now he was mentioning CEO.Laxus felt like it was still the same trap that was packaged in a different way.“Yes, CEO,” Bowman responded; that was to show that he knew exactly what he was talking about and that his earlier mention of it wasn’t a slip of the tongue.“You want me to take ownership of the company,” Laxus stated the obvious. “I already told you that I wasn’t interested in taking anything from you,” Laxus added. He was not going to sell his conscience and worth for anything. Laxus might have co

As Laxus asked the question, he was already boiling hot in his system. He wondered when Bowman would ever realize that Laxus would never accept to be used as a tool against his own family. They might be apart now, and they might be against him, but Laxus did not hate his father and brother, and if anything at all, he had no intentions of paying back their evil. The only thing that Laxus wanted deeply was to have enough to be able to protect himself when they would strike again. He wanted to be able stand his ground and not let them treat him like a common criminal or their sworn enemy simply because he turned and never looked back.“The truth or what you want to hear; which do you want?” Bowman eventually asked.“The truth,” Laxus answered, but deep down, his heart was beating. He knew that he a

“I saw what you did there, Luther,” Linnie barked at Luther, referring to the business party they had both attended.“What are you talking about?” Luther asked casually. He wasn’t in the mood for Linnie’s whining, because he was having a good morning, and his day always went well when he did not have to deal with Linnie. Talking to her gave off bad energies that Luther would rather not have today. Ever since the party, he had been feeling really good, and he just wished Linnie would leave him alone so that he could dwell and revel in the goodness that he was feeling.“You and Abby Golden!” Linnie answered, her voice hitting the roof. They both heard scurrying feet; an indication that their domestic workers were eavesdropping on their conversation, or argument anyway.“You all better get back to work or your poverty-stricken asses will be fired and sent back to the slum where you all belong!” Linnie yelled loudly and her voice echoed everywhere in their mansion. She was very enraged an

Luther and Linnie had been so engrossed with their argument that they didn’t even notice when Darwin entered their home.Darwin looked very cross, and Linnie hoped that he was angry at the both of them and not just her as usual, because he always acted as though she was the problem and never blamed or cautioned his son for treating her like a piece of garbage.“What is wrong with you?” Darwin asked Linnie pointedly.Linnie cocked her head in shock. Luther was obviously the last person who spoke, and yet, she was the one being questioned. Linnie looked at Luther just in time to see the smirk on her face, and she grew more upset. “He…” Linnie started to defend herself, but Darwin stopped her with a wave of his hand.“Keep quiet, Linnie; that was a fucking rhetorical question,” Darwin scolded, making Linnie feel embarrassed and insulted. “You don’t get it, do you?” Darwin asked. Then he walked closer to Linnie and said deeply, “You are just a Kinkaid wife who hasn’t even secured her pla

The small box would also have been given to Laxus, but they all knew that it was missing. However, Nessy was such a good guest that Laxus’s mood did not ruin the purpose for the dinner.“I should have known that including a celebratory dinner alongside with the will reading would not work well, but I guess I didn’t put things into consideration much,” Bowman had

His emotions were doing being a rollercoaster at the moment and a lot of things were running through his mind. He had never imagined that his granny was capable of dying, because even if she was clearly old, she was filled with love and life, so Laxus was extremely devastated when she had passed. The last thing that had been on his mind had been inheritance.

  • His Inheritance

On their way to Bowman’s mansion, as they sat at the back of the car, Laxus felt as though his tongue had been tied.He was still very embarrassed with his reaction about Nessy’s whereabouts. He had acted like a teenager who was scared that his mother had abandoned him, and worse, his voice had been frantic and loud enough that Nessy had heard him. Even though Nessy hadn’t said anything about it or reacted to it, Laxus had felt completely flushed. Fortunately for him, Nessy had simply accepted to go with him to Bowman’s, abandoning the breakfast that she had prepared for the both of them.“I am sorry that we couldn’t have the breakfast that you took time making,” Laxus eventually managed to break the ice. “Bowman sounded urgent, and if we had stayed back to eat, we would have been late. Nevertheless, we would have the next breakfast together,” Laxus promised. Now, he didn’t know if Nessy was cold because he didn’t eat what she had prepared or if she was still on about last night.“It’

  • A Hardened Patient

Darwin tried to sit up, but the sharp pain that shot through him from every part of his body sent him back to the bed and he groaned out loud in pain, causing his assigned nurse to rush into his ward.He was feeling numb on his waist and he was frustrated as fuck.“Mr. Darwin, I suggest you stay put,” the young nurse said frantically as she tried to check Darwin if he was alright. As soon as her hand touched Darwin, he hit her hand away from his body violently, making her yelp in pain.“I was only trying to help you,” she said solemnly.“I don’t need your freaking help!” Darwin yelled at her rudely. “Where is my doctor?” Darwin asked angrily. He hated being confined to a hospital bed. For years, he had managed to stay far away from hospitals and doctors, and now that he was here, he wanted to leave badly. He could not understand why he was feeling this much pain, and why he wasn’t feeling his waist. It had been just a push from Bowman’s man, so it couldn’t have been that bad. Besides,

  • The Kinkaid Wife

Linnie sat dutifully in Luther’s ward, close to his bed in the hospital like a loving and caring wife that she was. They had been in the hospital all night, but she felt relieved now, because her knee had been treated and the pain had greatly subsided. Linnie could rarely believe how everything had worked in her favor. She had ensured that the bloggers had gotten the story, and now that it was dawn, she believed that the news would be flying all over the internet in no time.Luther opened his eyes, finally awake. The doctor had given him some sedatives to make him sleep better after he was examined, and also some drugs to help the alcohol get out of his system faster. He looked like a mess, and once again, Linnie realized that he was not half as handsome as Laxus.“You,” Luther said grudgingly when he turned and saw Linnie. “I don’t want you here, you evil woman,” Luther declared.Of course, Linnie knew that he would try to be a nuisance once he woke up, but she was very well prepare

  • A Perfect Way Too Reconcile

Laxus wondered if he had not made the mistake of not letting Nessy sleep in the guestroom like she wanted, because she had become cold and unhappier. He felt terrible, because this wasn’t what he envisioned for the both of them, especially with how they had been during their trip before the Zayomi man spoilt things for them.As Laxus cast a glance over Nessy who was sleeping beside him on their bed, he worried about what they were becoming. His heart ached badly.“Why do I feel this way about being neglected?” Laxus asked himself worriedly. He could as well be very contented with the fact that Nessy was willing to play the perfect couple out there in public, and as long as they were cordial inside the home, he shouldn’t have minded, but Laxus couldn’t. He wanted things between himself and Nessy to be better than it had been. He wanted to be happy again, and he wanted to make Nessy happy.“You are in love with her.”A bold voice that sounded like Bowman’s said in Laxus’s head, but this

  • The Perfect Alibi

Linnie stood above Luther and stared at him for some minutes. He was still breathing, so she was certain that he had merely passed out; it must have been the effect of the alcohol in his system.“Bastard,” Linnie cussed him, resisting the urge to actually spit on his face.As she looked at him, she realized that she hated Luther Kinkaid with passion. If she wasn’t mindful of what laid at stake, she might have succumbed to the temptation of choking him and watching him die. This was literally the first time that Linnie was having this strong urge to kill, and she could not tell if it was as a result of the hatred she had for Luther or what she had experienced at Darwin’s office a few hours ago.“Who is helpless now?” Linnie asked the unconscious Luther hatefully.Luther stayed on the ground without moving, and the only thing that signified that he was still alive was the rising and falling of his beating chest. He was just like his father, Darwin, who was probably still lying just like
