As Laxus prepared for the country’s business show, he felt a kind of way deep in his stomach. The news making the rounds about the show dropping Luther and picking him instead just did not sit well with him, but Laxus had already accepted the invitation, which would undoubtedly go a long way in boosting his already fast-rising company.

“Never be afraid to ruffle a few feathers.”

Those words have been helping Laxus take a stand. When he broke out from his family and the company, Laxus never imagined that he would be dealing with any of them anymore. In all honesty, Laxus never wanted to even deal with them again, because seeing them or reading anything about them just made him feel angered and hurt and betrayed all over again, from his father, to his brother, to his x-fiancee.

One of the things that made Laxus feel less guilty and troubled were the fact that everyone knew that the country’s business show was not a show that could be manipulated or influenced, so there was not an issue

Linnie noticed that Luther had been in a very sour mood lately, and she did well to avoid him in their mansion. Thankfully, their mansion was big enough, and she had no desire to even see him as well.Every time he went to work, he always returned angrier than the previous day, and at a point, Linnie stopped worrying much about him, because she knew that she would definitely know exactly what was going in good time; she always did.So Linnie called Detective George, her informant as usual.“Have you found anything yet?” Linnie asked as soon as the call connected. “I still need to know what happened between Darwin and Luther, and of course, the death of the doctor who was in charge of Barrister Dickson,” Linnie said, going through everything they last talked about just in case the detective forgot any of it.“Things are bit tight around here for now,” Detective George said. His words aggravated Linnie deeply. “What do you mean by that? You are a bloody detective for crying out loud, sh

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   What She Settled For

Linnie waited for the person she had called earlier at the private lounge that she had paid for. It was not to 8pm yet, and the person might not arrive in the next thirty minutes, but Linnie intentionally left the house early enough because she just wanted time to herself to relax before the main time. While she did, she turned on her mobile data and watched the business interview that Luther was supposed to be attending with Abby that he got dropped and Laxus was selected in his place.Linnie had mixed feelings about it. First of all, she was happy, because she knew that her husband, Luther, had his eyes on Abby, the same woman that Linnie hated with passion. Abby Golden literally had everything that Linnie wanted in life. If Linnie could switch roles and be a young, successful, influential, and powerful female CEO of one of the most successful companies in the country, she would not even need a man. • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   Brewing Romance?

Laxus fell on his bed, exhausted like never before. He had no idea that business interviews were that draining, but he was glad that it was over now.The interviewer had tried to steer towards personal angles, but Laxus was smart enough to answer with vague answers, unlike Abby who conveniently answered most of them directly as though she was expecting the questions. It was obvious that she was confident about herself and very intelligent, and downright audacious, and any other man might have liked her, but certainly not Laxus.Even before the interview, he wasn’t attracted to Abby; Laxus had locked her heart towards that aspect of life forever, but even hanging out, or almost hanging out had made him like her less. Laxus could not even shake off how she had treated that receptionist who was nothing but nice and receptive. Today, Laxus had done his very best to avoid her, but Abby kept clinging to him, so when the interview was over, while Abby’s stylist had been doing a light touch o

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   The Difference Is Clear

Linnie drove home with mixed emotions with her conversation with Bridget. The moment Laxus launched his company, Linnie was smart enough to know that he would be in need of staff, and more importantly, he would be in need of a secretary or personal assistant. While Darwin and Luther had been fuming and pacing, Linnie had been thinking strategically.“Now that Laxus has come out to limelight, I need to know exactly what is going on. The last time I visited his rented apartment, it was wretched and poorly furnished, so there is no way Laxus could have amounted to that out of the blues. I also know that he worked at small restaurant, making and selling hamburgers, and given the state of Laxus’s company, he would never have been able to save such money even in the next hundred years, so there is definitely something going on in Laxus’s life, and I need to know what it is. I need to know who Laxus’s sponsor is,” Linnie had thought deep and hard. There had to be someone in the shadows helpi

Nessy was not expecting anything from Laxus, and he did not owe her anything in particular, but with his current position, she could have made do with his help.“I really thought we were friends,” Nessy said to herself as she mixed the flour with so much pain in her heart. She could not understand why no one wanted to stay with her as a friend, and because Nessy had no friends, life were really difficult for her at the moment. Nessy’s eyes widened in shock. “What did you just say?” Nessy asked.“You heard me, Nessy. I want the entire world to know the truth,” Jeff repeated sternly.Nessy straightened up and she decided to play the game that she had been playing way before now, because unlike Mrs. Linnie Kinkaid who had been fishing for information for a while now, no one had any real evidence that would tie her to the crime. For crying out loud, Gary had been buried, and Nessy thought that her nightmare was over until Jeff’s call.“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Nessy denied.Jeff laughed sinisterly. “Listen, I did not call you here for you to deny things, because I knew that you did it,” Jeff said. As Nessy left the bar, she became more devastated. This issue was getting more complicated as time went on, especially when she thought that it was over. If someone like Mrs. Linnie Kinkaid got a hang of it, she would not only be joyous; she would also not hesitate a second to use it against Laxus. Not that Nessy had anything for Laxus, contrary to what everyone thought or insinuated, and not that she also held a grudge against him for not remembering her now that he was famous and popular, and even though people might feel like she should use that to bring him down, Nessy could not do that. She just wasn’t that kind of person.First of all, Laxus never touched Gary. Linnie was fuming after Luther picked up Abby’s call and left their home. She could not believe the level of audacity and disrespect from him, and it was obvious that he did not care about the consequences of such actions. Linnie had been upset, especially with what happened between them, but she had seen it as an opportunity to get what she wanted. If Luther was cheating on her with Abby Golden, that would be grounds for a favorable divorce for Linnie, because she would leave the sham of a marriage with Luther’s share of the Kinkaid inheritance, and she would not have to worry about being poor and wretched for the rest of her life.More, she would not have to deal with Luther or his sick father, Darwin, and she would be free to fight for Laxus’s love, regardless of the fact that he was now married. So, Linnie had called Detective George and had asked him to trail Luther and keep an eye on him, and of course, bring back the one news that Linnie wanted to hear so badly. At this point, Luther did not care whether or not his repercussions would cause him his inheritance as long as he got what he wanted from Abby.As soon as Luther got to the open restaurant, he hurried into the restaurant, seeking Abby’s table. It was an expensive restaurant, no doubt, but it was also open, so at the end of the day, it couldn’t be termed that they met at a private place, although that was what Luther would have preferred.“Thank you for coming,” Abby said the moment Luther got to her and sat down.“No, Abby, I should be the one thanking you for calling and asking to see me,” Luther said, trying so hard not to sound overly excited. As he looked at Abby, he felt his heart crack. She did not look very happy, and he knew that Laxus’s marriage to

  • Snake Under The Grass

“Good, good,” Bowman said hastily. “It is a good thing that you know me already, so we will just get straight to the point,” Bowman added, intentionally doing so to prevent Barrister Dickson from spilling what Bowman didn’t want anyone to know just yet, including Dragon.“Thank you for sticking it out for me after the attack; I was told,” Barrister Dickson said weakly. “I am sure you did all that for Laxus,” he added.Bowman swallowed. The tone of the lawyer indicated that he might fall into sleep again. Being that they were fortunate to have the man’s brains back, Bowman did not want to take chances. He could sleep and wake up clueless again, but the good thing was that he was far away from Darwin’s knowledge and reach. At least, before Darwin would know of it, Bowman would have gotten what he wanted from the lawyer.“Why does Darwin want you dead?” Bowman asked, going straight to the point. There was still no proof or evidence that it was Darwin who was behind the attack, but still,

  • No More Time

Bowman was more than excited about what Dragon told him. He did not even want to worry about why such important information got to Dragon first, as long as it was good news.“I want to speak with him right now,” Bowman requested firmly.“And you will, but I was told that according to their time zone, you should be able to speak to him in two hours time,” Dragon informed Bowman.“Then let me speak with the doctor,” Bowman said.He could not even hide the fact that he was very relieved. Asking to speak to the doctor just to be sure was not an indication that he did not trust Dragon, and thankfully, Dragon already knew about these things. With Dragon, Bowman did not need to explain himself, which was one of the reasons they had had a good working relationship over the years.Dragon instantly dialed the number and gave it to Bowman who put in on speaker.“How did they get your number anyway?” Bowman asked while they waited for the foreign doctor to take the call.“When Laxus was filling i

  • A Hopeful News

Bowman had just finished with his appointment with the doctor, and he tried not to let the weight of his words sit too long in his heart.“Your condition is getting critical, Bowman.”Those had been his words, and after which he had prescribed some medications to keep Bowman ready for the meantime. Bowman had checked with good hospitals privately, and they had all come out with the same result; heart condition.Bowman stepped out of the hospital slowly, thinking about what the doctor said and still trying to be bold about it. The good thing about staying anonymously powerful, influential and filthy rich was the fact that he could go wherever he wanted to go to without being chased around by nosy bloggers and paparazzi. Bowman was only being discreet because he did not want news of it to get to Laxus yet, even though it was unlikely, being that people did not know that he and Laxus had any relationship or connection whatsoever.Bowman groaned in exasperation when he saw Dragon waiting

  • Change In Attitude

Laxus had the sighed and sealed contract in his hand, but for some reason, he did not feel triumphant. He should be feeling elated, because he knew exactly what this contract with the Zayomi company would do for the company he was handling for Bowman, and also, especially how far he had come just to get it, but he wasn’t.Right before the meeting, the Zayomi man had found a way to persuade the other men into asking Nessy to excuse them from the executive chambers.“We already know that Laxus is now married, even though it caused quite a bad scandal and a stir in his country,” the Zayomi man had begun just before the meeting had officially started.“It didn’t cause any bad scandal, the last time I recall,” Laxus had gently and respectfully interrupted, correcting the impression the Zayomi man was trying to create amongst the other men and also doing it with respect.Even though he was already feeling upset about the switch in the character of the man from Zayomi, Laxus felt that since

“What?” Linnie asked, confused and surprised at the same time. She was not sure that she heard Luther correctly.“Are you deaf or something?” Luther asked harshly, his eyes blazing hot with anger.Even though where he stood was a little dark because it was late and Linnie’s bedroom light did not illuminate brightly in that area, she could see and feel his anger and irritation in the core of her bones.“I am not deaf, Luther, but I am wondering if you are drunk,” Linnie said, standing confidently and facing Luther as he slowly entered her room. They had been married long enough now, but Linnie could count the number of times that Luther had entered into her room, as compared to the times that she had entered his.“Maybe getting drunk would have been a better idea, now that you have mentioned it,” Luther spat. “At least, being drunk would make me less aware of being with a woman like you,” Luther added spitefully. His words sliced through Linnie’s heart, but she decided that she would n
