"Mum, leave Derek alone, i am sticking to him and never will get married to Wendell." His doubts about Brenda were suddenly erased, but he wondered why she put up the acts when she was still in love with him.
The arguments continued, and out of frustration, she mentioned her last word. "Mum, whether or not I'm not removing my baby, Derek is the father and he's obliged to know about it."
That was the last she said, Derek assumed she cut the call, he opened up and walked in. "Hey Brenda," he said softly, but she merely shot him a dead stare and walked past him.
Nevertheless, he followed tailing behind. "Brenda, I've got us good news."
She increased her pace towards the bedroom. "Darling, can you hold In a while, and we talk?"
"Derek, go get a job! Go get one!" She yelled out continuously till she reached the bedroom.
She laid on the bed in annoyance and turned her face towards the wall. "Perhaps this isn't perfect timing," he said to himself.
Derek went for a shower and laid on the same bed with her, allowing distance as he turned to face another edge of the bed.
The silence that ensued between both of them was killing, Derek had a lot to talk about but Brenda insisted on living in her own shell.
She never liked the way her mom treated Derek, each time she did hurt him, it pained Brenda.
However, the major means by which they survived was through her mum, she sent them little food per month and offered Brenda the lowest position in the Reid's group.
A whole daughter of the Reid, serving as a cleaner in her parent's company. How disgusting and degrading it was.
Brenda thought of several ways to free herself out of her mum's grasp, but all ways she thought of amounted to one thing. If they could feed without her help, and they were much more comfortable in the society.
Her pains were this, but she couldn't express it to anyone else but pass the aggression on Derek.
Early that morning, she had wanted to inform him about the pregnancy but before she returned he left unannounced, she had sent him a text hoping that he would call but all was futile.
Every passing minute, her blood was boiling hot to realize what devilish plan her mum had in mind towards her and Derek.
Just as she thought of that, Derek thought of their argument that morning, he remembered before she left, he had eaten nothing and was the same as she.
As a result, he broke the silence first. "Have you had anything for a meal today?"
For several seconds then in minutes, her responses were not forthcoming, he went over asking again. "Brenda, I don't know what I've done to hurt you badly but you know how much I…"
"I'm pregnant," she stopped him midway.
"Pregnant!" He spoke innocently. "That's good news for us…"
"No, it's not." Brenda added sharply. "We shouldn't have consummated our marriage in the first place knowing how much financially unstable we are." She bit her lips hard in regret.
"Do you regret it now!" Brenda was numb, really her whole life she would have shared her body with no one else but Derek.
Unable to give a response, she slides her eyes shut. "Good night Derek."

Derek did well to have a good night's rest, after passing through hell he ended the day with a very good story that changed his status overnight.
The next morning, Brenda was up first, hurriedly preparing to leave for work, and she tried all possible best to keep her movements discreet, she wasn't quite enough, Derek got to wake up from the squeaky sounds.
He rubbed his palm against his dreamy eyes after which he greeted Brenda. "Where are you off to so early?"
"There's a lot to do at the company today."
"May I know what it's about?"
While she hurriedly dressed, she answered him. "The company isn't doing well lately, mum said Reid's group has to collaborate with Emerald, but Reid's is a small scale compared to the Emerald's. They wouldn't even look at us."
He played smart, probed further. "Has there never been a collaboration between the Reid's and the Emerald?"
For the first time in many days, Brenda laughed sarcastically and said. "The Reid's amount to nothing before the Emerald, we are not even worthy of scratching their tails not to talk of a collaboration."
Her voice fell as she added. "This is one of the reason's mom insists that I divorce you and get married to Wendell Walker, so we can build connections with them."
"I'm off, I'm running out of time already." She replied hurriedly.
"Hey, have you got something to eat?" He yelled, but she was out of sight.
Derek sank back into the bed, mumbled and said. "The Reid's had taken a part of the Emerald's fortune, converted it into theirs unknown to them it was just a piece of a hundred."
It was time for them to pay for their deeds one at a time, would Mrs. Reid ever have thought that he could be the owner of the Emerald group now.
Considering Brenda, she had been humiliated a lot just because she chose him over them.
Derek said to himself. "Brenda, it's a matter of time, each of them will pay for their deeds and bow at your feet."

Derek rushed out to the Emerald group, he needed to meet with the Emerald's representative as arranged by Gage.
He alighted from a cab, took a minute to scrutinize the Emerald building. After taking a look that was worth while, he smiled within himself. "Now all of this becomes mine."
He dashed into the building, and while he tried heading for the elevators he bumped into a man.
"Hey, are you blind? Watch were you are heading?" Wendell yelled.
Derek lifted his head, dusted his body off, he was about leaving when Wendell pulled his shirt. "Hey, aren't you Derek? The loser who got married to Brenda?"
Derek was impatient to get to his destination, as such he remained quiet without a word. "Hey wouldn't you answer me?" He pulled Derek by the shirt with full force, causing Derek's frail shirt to tear at the behind.
Wendell scoffed mockingly. "See, you can even afford a reasonable cloth, it is such a shame to see someone as beautiful as Brenda married to you."
Throughout the talk, Derek refused to say a word but he was in a rage. Wendell however, moved closer and whispered. "It's either you leave Brenda peaceably or you get more of this embarrassment."
"I believe a company as big as this would never want to collaborate with a loser like you!" Derek spilled his first and final word.
Wendell's face flushed with anger. "Who do you refer to as a loser?"
Derek replied disdainfully. "You loser, what more can you do?"
"Damn you, stop right there, right now and right there!" Wendell yelled after Derek, he strode quickly till he caught up with him at the entrance of the elevator.
How lovely it would have been to throw into that face of Derek's two hot slaps, at least to realize the consequences that exist behind degrading somebody like him.
However, both of them were now within the building of the Emerald, and certainly they would have canera's all fixed everywhere. He was therefore worried that his partner would get infuriated at such harsh actions and what he came for wouldn't work, as such he dismissed the idea.
He gritted his teeth and clenched his fist together. "I would let you off the hook today, but another day would be entirely different."
Derek instead walked straight to the elevator, and with a smoke revealed on his lips he said. "Wendell Walker, you believe you really are powerful right! Then let's see who wins this…"
"You stenc…" he wanted to dash into the elevator and give Derek the beating of his life but he was wrong. The elevator closed at his very face.
Wendell's face flushed in red in a fit of rage, he stomped his feet on the ground severally, gritted his teeth and said. "I let you off the hook today, but I promise you, you wouldn't survive it next time."

Derek dashed towards the chairman"s office, after the elevator came to a halt at the top floor.
Gage had made all necessary arrangements for him to meet with the person in charge, each time he saw the tear in his shirt, he got enraged the more.
Finally, after a few minutes of walking, he found the chairman's office. He had expected to see a man in so much splendour, but what he saw really amazed him.
It was a thing of amazement to realize who the stand-in chairman was. Instead of that great exuding aura of meeting a man as he thought, he met a young, beautiful and elegant looking lady.Sonia Stark was a young woman of great splendor, she was known throughout the whole Dominican as a renowned business lady, principled and capable in all she did.No one ever crosses her path without an invitation, she earned all of that respect for herself at a very young age, coupled with all these attributes, she earned herself a promotion as the stand in chairman, second in command that is the vice chairman.Being a pauper was never an attribute to make your sight fade off, as such Derek could tell when he saw a beauty. Sonia was charming, one of those you could call a little goddess. She's one of the great factors that has brought about the stability of the Emerald group till date.On her part, she was equally shocked to see a decent young man come in, all along she had expected to meet at least
The recent announcement didn't take much of a time to spread like wildfire throughout the whole of Dominican. Not only that did spread, but the news as regards the nomination of a new chairman. As such all companies, corporations, groups, were willing to take part in the project. Three billion dollars! That was really no child's play for anyone.Another factor of surprise was the nomination of the chairman, with just the name Mr. B. What chairman bears such name, many had asked themselves.Thinking of it, the man is so generous to have bought the whole of the Emerald group. Every single person knew that the Emerald was not like and cost billions of billions. The new chairman must really be a god to have bought such a huge company.Nevertheless, some were willing to marry their daughter over to him just to get a collaboration.Mrs Reid suddenly gave herself a reason why the Walker's project was terminated. Perhaps the new chairman was reshuffling things and since he had no earlier acq
Brenda's announcement sent a shock throughout the meeting room. While Mrs Reid didn't give a damn about who went, all she wanted was someone going.Mr Reid, who has been quiet, found a frown plastered on his face, and to Morphie he couldn't help but mock sarcastically. "Brenda do you think you worth going to the Emerald group and bagging that contract?" Mr Reid did say. "Common girl, you only will humiliate us and nothing more, this will only add to the Reid's problem if we fail." He tried to discourage her.Brenda felt her legs losing the strength in them, she felt blood rush to her whole body in embarrassment.Everyone had practically taken her to be such an outsider the moment she decided to marry Derek. She felt if she could sign the deal, then perhaps she could have a new definition in the presence of her mum, dad and Morphie.Just as she thought about how much that could work, she found herself withdrawing from the idea, as a result of the sarcastic comments and condemnation.S
He watched her walk In, after which he took his phone and dialed Sonia's number.Twice he dialled but none went, the phone operators kept repeating the usual words to inform him.He kept trying his luck but none did go through. He knew surely that by now his wife would probably have reached the top lobby in wait for Sonia or perhaps almost reached.Refusing to create suspicion, with his wife around there was little he could do.The best was to reach out to a secretary just to make information reach Sonia. He dashed towards the receptionist. The receptionist in waiting shot him a wide grin to see such a young man, with his blonde short curls brushed to the back, thick eye lashes, little beard showing forth around his oval facial structure. Derek's status was never enough to conceal his elegant and gorgeous looks.None of them knew his status, but if they knew, his identity of course would no longer be concealed. After a mild grin of admiration he zoomed her out of her thoughts with his
Sonia had been more of having the worst morning to having a whole day messed up. Never has she intended to skip duties that morning until little things that shouldn't have happened began to.At first, she left her home as usual, but she hadn't gone far in her car when there was a lot of arising confusion battling within her stomach. She needed to order the driver for a u-turn. Hurriedly, she made use of the restroom, as if the first wasn't enough, she visited the restroom over and over again as one who used a laxative. Finally, she had landed in the hospital, helplessly, her day was just so messed up that she was unable to send a call across to the office informing the secretary of her absence. The hospital had added to her issues, they made sure her phone was switched off to prevent disturbances.Unknown to her, a lot and more had happened in her absence.***"Get away from me Derek, I don't want to see you come closer!" Brenda yelled out in disgust."If only you never raised the ide
While Brenda left, Derek utilized the opportunity to reach Sonia once more, just as he was about to, his phone rang equally. It was Sonia calling. "Gracious goodness! Sonia, where the heck were you the whole of yesterday? I called your lines, all were switched off, I tried reaching you, all to no avail.""Where the heck were you?" "Umm, I'm really sorry Mr Brook…i…had some compl." She was about explaining her awful ordeal, but he cut her midway. "Hey, just let that slide now, leave that aside, there are a lot of important things you need to take charge of right now!""Anything Mr Brook, I'm always at your service." She told excitedly, gladened with the fact hat he never took her incompetence overboard."Right now, I need you to sign the Reid's group for a partnership in the theme Park construction scheme.""Yes boss, but how's that possible? None of their representatives are around.""My wife, she came around yesterday.""I'll do that Mr Brook, but she's not even here and I do not h
A broad but faint smile lit on Brenda's face as she anticipated Mrs Reid's response. At the same time there was a consistent stomping of foot against the ground from no other person but Morphie, waiting for nothing else but a response from Mrs Reid. She wasn't ready to lose this opportunity, all she needed was a sole positive response of yes from Mrs Reid.Mrs Reid leaned back into her seat, with strokes of her fingers at consequent times against her lips. "Another chance you say." She straightened herself above the black leather seat, rested on her chin and told."What assurance would you tender to prove your capability on the next opportunity?""Mom! Are you really considering giving her another c…" with a dismissive wave, Mrs Reid stops Morphie's ranting midway.Fuming with dissatisfaction, he had creases lined across his brow, his arms across his chest…Ignoring him, Mrs. Reid's returned to her previous question. "Brenda! What is the assurance you've got to prove your capability?"
Derek's face burned in displeasure, as he trailed her walk away, she was always seeking for the slightest opportunity to abuse him. When did having a siesta suddenly become a crime, or make him look lazy and idle?Getting a job! That was so certain, he would, he was making preparations towards that already he thought to himself. How would he tell her that her mother was responsible for his joblessness all along? If he wasn't an heir to an important group somewhere, he would have kept on suffering hoping that someday, fate would shine on him when somebody somewhere was deliberately in charge of his failures.Nevertheless, he followed Brenda into the room. "Babe, Brenda, why have you changed so much? Each passing day you despise m…"Right before the mirror, she tried zipping down her dress, her features were just perfect as always, body shape intact, flawless face, perfectly straight brows and her blond hair which kept falling across her shoulders down to her waist.Despite their suffe
