King Of The Underworld

Looking around him, Arnold found himself surrounded by what seemed to be tens of people, most of them looking shocked.

Some looked frightened, others looked worried and they were pointing fingers at him.

“He’s alive.” Someone close by said.

“He doesn’t look hurt. What do you think will happen now?” Another added.

He blinked his eyes again, and took in his surroundings.

He was in the middle of the road, and from what he could deduce, there were ambulances and sirens everywhere.

Everything looked like a nightmare scene out of a movie— where everything had been quiet or peaceful just a moment ago, but now chaos reigned once more.

A few feet away from him, Arnold saw what looked like a tumbled over truck, and he could see blood dripping off of it.

Not his blood. He noted, because he looked strong and fine.

A figure lay prone on the ground, motionless and seemingly lifeless and also covered in white sheet.

Probably the driver of the truck- Arnold mused to himself.

“Hello there.” A strange feminine voice called from behind, and Arnold whirled around trying to locate the source of the voice.

He spotted a young woman, standing close to him, with a first aid box in her hands. She was dressed in white scrubs, with dark glasses perched atop her nose and her hair parked up in a rough updo.

She was a doctor, or nurse, from the look of things, and judging by the slight frown on her lips, she was a bit concerned or was it irritated?

Arnold couldn’t tell.

“Are you okay?“ She asked, squatting down to knee level until she was directly facing him, and just as she stretched her hands out to touch him, Arnold instantly flinched.

“Relax. I just want to check if you’re alright. You were hit by a truck but you luckily escaped death mysteriously.”

“Huh?“

“Yes. You see that truck over there. It tumbled over, while you were trying to cross to the other side. Luckily it swerved and hit elsewhere.”

Arnold eyes widened in surprise, at how strange this was.

He’d narrowly escaped death? He should have been dead by now, but he wasn’t, and that’s when he remembered the voice in his head.

The dark system, Nexus who’d told him that it wasn’t yet time for him to die. Did that strange voice have anything to do with this?

“Are you hurt anywhere? Any broken bone I need to know off? I can see you’re still in shock and trying to process all what happened, but it would be better if you allow me check your organs and see if…”

“I’m fine.” Arnold instantly blurted out, and then he winced. The last thing he wanted was some stranger poking at his body with strange instruments and asking him useless questions.

“Are you sure?” The lady pestered once more and Arnold nodded.

“No bones are broken. I feel alright just a little bit dizzy but I’ll be fine.”

A little bit dizzy, because he’d been drunk earlier, although the alcohol haze seemed to have passed by.

“Alright then.” She smiled faintly, a look of relief on her face. “Now, if you could get into one of those cars nearby. You need to rest and…”

“Thank you but I think I’ll be going home now.” Arnold interrupted her once again, and he saw her jaw drop open.

“But…”

Arnold didn’t pay her any heed any more. Instead without further explanation, he pushed himself up with a grunt, and turning away from her, he began to walk past her.

As he walked further away from the accident scene, he saw people move out of way. Their eyes were wide like they were staring at a ghost, and they were also pointing fingers at him, and murmuring. However Arnold didn’t care.

The only thing on his mind now, was how to get home, and how to come to terms with the genuineness of the strange things he’d seen and heard in his unconscious state.

The dark system called the Nexus. The unlocked wealth and riches that’d been transferred to him mysteriously. And also how was he even going to spend this ill-gotten strange wealth? He pondered as he walked away.

Already getting to a safer side of the road, and away from onlookers and strangers, Arnold waved his hands out for a cab.

Soon enough, a taxi pulled over, and rambling out the location of his rundown neighborhood, the driver opened the car door and he climbed in.

Once alone in the backseat, Arnold sighed and leaned against the window.

His head had a faint ache, and in entirety his whole body felt weird. Well what did he expect?

He’d just come out unscathed from an accident, and today had been one of the worst day of his lives.

Maybe he should take a nap, and rest until he got home. He thought to himself, and sighing deeply he closed his eyes.

However it didn’t take two seconds for him to drift off into a slumber, and before he knew it, he slept the entire journey back to his apartment.

“We’re here.” The husky voice of the cab driver woke Arnold up some minutes later, and groggily he sat up.

The taxi door opened, and just as he stepped outside, his hands went too his pocket and he tried to look for his wallet but he couldn’t find it.

That’s right. He’d been robbed earlier, and those men had taken off all the spare cash, and valuables with him. His phone, his wallet and everything.

However suddenly Arnold remembered the words of the super lavish system from earlier.

The system had told him he could pay with his fingerprints, and he decided to try it out and we whether it was legit.

“Hello sir. I’m still waiting for…” The cab driver called out to him, and with a smirk Arnold cut in and said, “Do you have your phone?”

“Yes I do.”

“Good. I don’t have cash, but if you could just take some transfer. I could use my fingerprint to activate my mobile bank app and give you the money.”

“Alright.” The cab driver agreed, handing over his phone to Arnold, and he collected it sharply.

His hands shook, and his heart thumped widely in his chest as he operated the phone.

No sooner had he opened the mobile app with his fingerprints, and inputted his details, when something else happened.

The phone lit up more brightly than before, and he stared at the app’s interface blankly, his stomach tightening uncomfortably.

There it was. On the screen. The amount, 5,000,000,000,000 dollars. Written out in bold, and Arnold rubbed at his eyes in confusion.

No way! He’d barely had ten dollars in this account, some hours ago. He’d spent all his money to find his wedding with Vera and he even owed a loan shark.

But now, he was staring at the lump sum of 5 trillion dollars sitting in his bank account. This was the unlocked Nexus point from earlier, that the system had told him he could activate anywhere.

Did this mean he was a Trillionaire? Not a millionaire, or a billionaire but a Trillionaire? No way!

“This had better be a joke.” He murmured to himself, but it wasn’t. It was real.

He had trillions of money sitting in his account, and even though he wasn’t the owner for now, he just had to do some tasks to unlock money for himself.

“How much is your money?” Arnold who was slowly coming out of his shocked state, asked the driver who then replied, “15 dollars.”

“Your account number?” He asked, and the driver further spelled it off.

Hands still shaking, Arnold proceeded to send the sum of 500 dollars to the cab driver.

Using his fingerprint to activate the transaction, he suddenly heard a voice in his head.

(Ding! The supreme lavish system successfully remitted 500 dollars.)

It worked! His eyes lighting up, Arnold saw the balance reduce, and he was now left with 4,999,999,999,500 trillion dollars.

Again the voice in his head sounded again.

(Host - Arnold Stone)

(Nexus Point Balance – Unlocked- 4,999,999,999,500 dollars)

(Body - 55 -Average)

(Mind - 11 - Fragile. Can easily be manipulated.)

(Lavish Point - 0 )

“You gave me 500 dollars.” The cab driver said, as Arnold handed quickly logged out of his details and handed the man his phone.

“Yes. You can keep the change.”

“Thank you sir. Thank you so much.” The cab driver rasped out, his eyes lightening up and starting his ignition, Arnold watched as the car drove away.

Now standing alone in the middle of the street, the environs deserted and dark, Arnold suddenly burst out laughing.

The system thing was real. He was now rich, or in the process rather of getting rich. If he obeyed the system and got sone lavish points he could build some wealth for himself, and now the only thing that worried him was what his tasks would be.

However still blinking twice, the money he’d seen in his bank app flashed through his head, and Arnold nearly screamed out loud.

Fuck! He had money unparalleled and in dozens. In millions. In billions. In trillions.

Even the richest man by Forbes, had nothing on him, considering the amount of money sitting in his account.

There were dozens of Billionaires in this world, but was there a Trillionaire? No.

Even with their zeros combined, they had nothing on him, and this realization struck through like thunder and lightning.

He was no more Arnold Stone, the pathetic low life who was jilted by his wife at the altar.

He was no longer the poor grocery store owner, who lived from hand to mouth, and couldn’t afford three square meals daily.

He wasn’t the loser and scum bag who couldn’t even buy decent clothes in any store he entered.

No. Now he was Arnold Stone, the soon to be powerful and richest man in the world.

He could now live comfortably, and lavishly. He could do whatever he wanted, without anyone looking down on him.

Now he was an upcoming Trillionaire, with the world’s wealth at his feet. Provided he did his tasks well, he could be able to unlock his wealth.

Fuck it, but he was now Arnold Stone. King of the underworld, and host of the dark system of wealth, called the Nexus!
