Mr. Jones reached out for his phone to call the digital forensics team so they could get into action before it became too late but Liam stopped him. With his hand resting on his shoulder, he said, “I will give it a try, if I'm unable to come up with a solution for the breach in twelve hours then you can call in the forensics team.” Alarmed, Mr. Jones pushed his hand into his hair and after tugging on it for a while, he straightened up. “Liam… don't you think it's risky. As it is, we are vulnerable to any sort of attack. The company is at risk here…” “I know. I will do my best to resolve the issue. And if anything happens before I'm able to come up with a solution, I will take the blame for it.” “What are you talking about?” “I will take responsibility.” He said and after a curt bow, he stepped out of the office. With his phone in his hand, he made his way towards the tech department. The staff were busy, handling one task or the other and despite their up and down movement, the
Chapter 110They were still in their positions when Xavier's team leader arrived and then nudged him, “There is a board meeting.” “Board meeting?” The duo asked in unison. “Uhm… it will start in exactly five minutes. You should be there, Williams.” He said. Not sure of what to expect at the board meeting, Liam pulled his feet towards the elevator. Once inside, he began to rack his head, thinking of what would be discussed in the board meeting. When everyone arrived, Mr. Jones rose and then cleared his throat to get their attention. “It's already past work hour and so I will go straight to the point.” He said with a firm tone and then turned to Liam, urging him with his eyes to rise. Liam did as he was instructed only for a pair of twenty four eyes to turn in his direction, making him nervous. “We are lucky to have a genius in our midst, in the person of Mr. Williams Armani. He is a fresh graduate and in a few days, his first month as a staff member of AI tech would be completed
Chapter 111Moments later, he stepped out of the room with Jaime trailing behind. Now in the shopping mall, he began to look around when his eyes fell on Naya shopping with Wren pushing the trolley. Smiling, he took his eyes off her only to return his gaze in her direction the next minute to discover she had disappeared into thin air. “Where did she go?” He muttered. An excited Naya kept on talking to Wren as she shopped for the things she needed. “Aren't you going to tell me why you're super excited today?” Wren asked. “Of course I'm super excited. If you were in my place you would have been all over the moon, I'm being modest here.” She chuckled, placing two plates of diced onions in the trolley. “If I have an idea on why you're excited, then I would know if I will be all over the moon like you claim.” He retorted. Smiling, Naya didn't respond, instead, she swirled around only to bump into Alaric's hard chest. As if that was not enough, she emptied her coffee on him, giving
Chapter 112Due to the large amount of work Liam had to manage, having time for himself seemed impossible. He barely ate his meals, he was heavy on snacks and caffeine consumption. Also, for days, he had been unable to rest his head to get enough sleep. He heads out for work before six am and when he returns, it is almost midnight and so he hasn't been seeing Naya though they kept in touch, sending and replying to messages. This morning, Liam decided to stay back for an extra hour so he would have a little chit chat with Naya. Just when he was about to start making breakfast, his phone began to ring. It was Xavier on the line. “Are you going to leave me hanging on the thin line? If my team leader comes around and discovers I'm yet to finish with this project, I'm doomed.” He yelled. “Why sound like I owe you a favor? The last time I checked, you were the one who solicited my assistance and not the other way around.” He squirmed. Unable to work on the project that had been deleg
Chapter 113Smacking his lips with his hands resting on his table, Liam plopped back on his seat. After speaking with Xavier earlier, he had returned to his office and the only thing on his mind at that moment was how he would be able to track the cars. Through the black box installed on his car, he had managed to see the glimpse of the registration numbers but was unsure if they really existed. Unable to keep his thoughts to himself anymore, he left the office and headed straight for the exit. “Are you leaving already?” It was Mr Jones asking. “Yeah.” He nodded in response and at the same time, he was awaiting him to speak concerning the text he had sent him when he arrived earlier. “About the text… I think something is wrong somewhere. I have looked into it but couldn't even find the slightest clue. Not to worry, Madam Aurelia is already aware of the situation and she had given her words to take actions.” “Yes sir, thank you sir.” Liam did a curt bow after which he slid from
Chapter 114Just when he was about to take a bend into the road that would lead him to the highway, a car rammed into him from behind. Craning his neck to find out who the drunken driver was, he was hit from the side and before he could recover from this, another car came face to face, bashing his car completely. “Shit! What am I going to do now?” He muttered. These cars, knowing fully well that he had tracked down their activities earlier, decided to wait for him in the place he least expected. Liam was still thinking of what to do when the men who were dressed up in black suits began to get off their cars, wielding their baseball bats as it was always seen on TV. The scene scared Liam a bit and he began to blame himself for not picking up a gun from the mansion when he had the chance to. Shutting his eyes tightly, he pushed his hand into his hair while the men looked on. When he refused to step out even after five minutes, a man, who was apparently their leader, jumped on top
Chapter 115Nelson just arrived at the family mansion. If it was before, Naya would have been yelling his name from the door as she ran towards him but there was nothing of that sort. Pushing his head backwards, he let out a low wince, disappointment racking through him. When she informed him of her marital status, he was downcast but there was nothing he could do, rather to sit back and worry from a distance. If he had told her how he felt, she was going to act overboard and he didn't want that to happen so he kept it to himself. He was granted permission to take a leave the previous day and so he had decided to spend it with his family. Naya had no idea about this, otherwise, she would have been waiting for him in her family mansion. Immediately he stepped into the living room, Sam and Nathan who were chattering stopped at once, staring at him with widened eyes. They were scared of him not only because he belonged to the army but because he commanded more authority than them.
Chapter 116For the next few minutes that followed, Nelson was just staring at them. He didn't believe them a bit, their tone, lengthy time before answering questions and their uneasiness was evidence that they were hiding something from him. After what seems like forever, he clasped his hand together and then leaned forwards with a little smile tugging the side of his lips. “We know how Naya behaves whenever she is drunk, why did you allow her to go out alone at night…” he couldn't complete what he had to say when Nathan slammed his fist against the table. “You're speaking in her favor because she is your little sister. Other than that, you wouldn't be making this instance.” Nathan said. “I support him fully. Moreover, we are busy, always at work, do you expect us to be keeping tabs on a grown up who can't take care of herself.” Sam said. “Keeping tabs on a grown up you say? How then were you able to find out that she had a one night stand?” He snapped at him. “Thinking of this
