8. Turns Out You Have Support

Before he could reply, she placed her index finger on her lips.

“What’s your department?”

“Computer science,” Liam replied helplessly. Either way, he was really minoring in some courses. However, it was not his major; if she went there later, she wouldn’t find him.

Naya’s eyes flashed, but she still told the driver.

“Drive to the computer science department.”

She turned to Liam and said, "Put your number here. I’ll call you when next I want to see you.”

Liam’s face stiffened as he heard her words. So he had just made her drive him to a department that was on the other side only to give out his number?

He felt that there was many troubles that he was facing now, he had no intention of giving her but when he met with her eyes, Liam couldn’t help his heart from thumping.

“I have saved you; the least is to collect my number. Besides, do you think I’m not worthy of being your woman?”

Liam shook his head hurriedly as he was afraid that she would misunderstand.

“If you don’t think so, put your number here,” she insisted.

Liam shrugged and then entered his number; satisfied, Naya called him and nodded when his phone rang out.

Seeing the old model of the phone that he brought out, Naya’s brows crinkled slightly, but she made no comment.

“I’ll call you,” Naya told him as the car stopped in front of the computer science department.

Liam nodded and rushed out of the car. As soon as the car drove off, he heaved a sigh of relief.

He had thought that he would die from fear. Even though she was smiling the whole time, Liam was good at reading people. He could tell that she was not so simple.

However, he wasn’t too worried; after all, there was nothing he had that she could steal.

After pushing the matter to the back of his mind, he rushed to his own department and went to the officer’s office.

“Liam,” the course officer had a stern look on his face as Liam entered.

“It’s your final year already. You should not allow matters to keep you away from your focus.”

Liam was a genius and their department lecturers had all been anticipating him graduating with full marks so they could brag to all the other departments, after all, the course was originally not easy.

But his absence was noticed last week by all his lecturers.

“Mr Mark, I’m sorry, I had some urgent matters to settle.”

Mr Mark could be considered considerate, and he also liked Liam. Seeing that he looked genuine, he really listened to him and felt pity by the time he saw the medical records.

“This…” he had no idea what to say to make things better for Liam.

“It’s difficult to deal with this. In the meantime, I’ll help you check for grants and other competitions that would bring you money. However, your scholarship is also important. You have to find a way to handle your classes.”

He really wished he could help him. However, there was very little he could do.

As one of the top universities in the country, the demands that they had on their schorlaship students was excessive. It was not something he could help with.

Liam was grateful, and after they talked for a while, he said his goodbyes and left.

Since he was already in school, he attended the remaining classes for the day and briefly met Daniel before rushing to the hospital.

Just as he entered the bus, his phone rang.

“Liam, hurry and come over! Someone has paid all the hospital bills!”

The first sentence had taken him to hell, however, after hearing the second one, he was stunned silly.

Someone had paid all his hospital bills?

Was this a dream?

Liam slammed the emergency stop button with every energy that he could muster.

The bus came to a slow stop, and he dashed out of it as quickly as he could. Usually, saving money was always the goal, but this time, he hailed a cab and gave him the hospital address hurriedly.

After that, he called the account department to confirm that it wasn’t a prank.

Just a few minutes ago, he had thought he got extra money, but it had turned out to be nothing. He even got some extra beating because of it.

Now, he was a little more guarded and hesitant to accept the news.

“W…what about the account?” He asked, stuttering a little.

“Liam, it turned out you had support, and you have been running around all this while! All your tabs have been covered, and the donor has been called for too.”

Liam pinched himself with his free hand to be sure he wasn’t dreaming. After that, he nodded repeatedly to everything the other party said.

“I will be there in a short while.”

Liam rushed into hospital. Without stopping at the account department, he rushed to his sister’s shared ward.

Nurse Mo was in charge of three patients in that ward and was still around. As soon as she saw him, her face lit up with happiness.

“Liam, who would have known that the heavens are really watching,” she exclaimed with a dramatic sigh.

From her reaction, Liam could tell that the matter seemed to be true.

“Nurse Mo, where’s my sister? Has she left the intensive care unit?” He asked hurriedly while trying to look into the ward room from his angle.

Nurse Mo chuckled and shook her head.

“Her benefactors have moved her to the VIP room. She’s still getting the same treatment as the intensive care unit there. Once she’s stable, the doctors will give us the next instructions.”

Liam’s mouth fell open in surprise. VIP room?

Wasn’t that too excessive?

To cover his sister’s medical bills was already a huge sum. They wanted her to stay in the VIP room.

“What organisation are they from?” He didn’t think that these charity bodies had become this extravagant nowadays.

Nurse Mo’s face was filled with confusion. “Organization? They said they were just concerned and distant family members.”

Distant family members?

Liam frowned in confusion as he tried to remember such a thing. He was nine years old when their parents died. Rose was only four, and both of them were the only family at the burial.

Every other person was either a colleague, friend or neighbour. From that age, he had always had the mind that they were alone in this world.

Luckily, they had been taken into the same orphanage and were able to grow while taking care of each other.

To the two of them, family meant only one person.

Where was this distant family member coming from?

Nurse Mo had many matters to attend to. Even though she liked to gossip, she didn’t dare to wait around while Liam was struggling to remember things.

Just as she left, four men in suits walked out from the other end of the corridor. Their timing was perfect, so one could guess that they had already been there before but were waiting for the perfect time to show themselves.

Liam finally noticed them when they closed in on him, and he stepped back cautiously.

“Young Master,” the four men stood in front of Liam and bowed respectfully.

Liam looked behind him first, thinking there was someone else. However, after seeing that he was the only person in the hallway, his brows furrowed.

“Seems like you have made a mistake,” he corrected kindly.
