Nathan's POV

The room was silent except for Amber, who approached him from behind and lowered his body to talk with Nathan.

"David Lakewood is giving a press conference now." Amber whispered.

Nathan snapped his head around to face Amber.

"Turn on the TV," he ordered sharply. Amber nodded and switched on the screen.

Sitting in front of a large number of reporters, was David Lakewood. The man looked like hell. He couldn't even begin to imagine what David was feeling at the moment.

Although making a press conference would help to clear the man's name and reputation if he was innocent, but Nathan hoped that David had gone to the law enforcement agents to investigate the matter.

"Can we get your side of the story, Mr. David Lakewood? With everything that has been circulating in the media so far, I think it is paramount that you tell us your story…are you guilty or not." one of the reporters asked him.

Nathan scoffed as he leaned forward in his seat, listening to what David had to

Nathan's POVOn his way to the Siesta Center, Nathan continued replaying the footage of David's press conference, hoping to pull something that could actually give him a hint of what was going on out of it. The press conference seemed planned and practiced, as if David had prepared for it before the images appeared in the media. All the more reason for him to speak to David. He groaned and looked up as the vehicle parked in front of the siesta center. Nathan climbed out of the car and entered the building. He wasn't sure where David Lakewood was in the building, so he decided to visit their conference center where they held the press conference. The press conference ended minutes ago, and he doubts anyone was still present, but verifying was worth the effort. After entering the empty hall, he mumbled, "David isn't here."Where the hell was the man? he wondered. He took out his phone and contacted David, but as usual, the call went unanswered. Nathan wondered why the man was still ign

Nathan's POVNathan was certain that by the time they arrived at Angle 135th, Vivian would have noticed him staring at her and probably scolded him for that. If he had been staring at someone else that way, they would have probably called the police on him, because it was suspicious. It was a horrible decision for him to let her ride in the same car with him because he couldn't take his eyes off her. He wasn't into her, far from it. He just couldn't believe that they were both in the same car and she was right next to him.He would have revealed his identity, except that it would ruin things for not just him, but the Hayes family, Scott especially. He moved his glance to her and stared until she turned to look at him. Their eyes locked for a brief moment, but he quickly moved his face away, glancing outside the car at the surroundings. The car ride was peaceful but increasingly tensed. He crossed his legs and unbuckled his seatbelt, feeling restless. Nathan needed to focus on the ta

Nathan's POVShe blinked and eventually nodded. “ Yeah. I got it. You two promised to meet when you grew up,” she muttered, shaking her head and smiling fondly.Nathan's eyes widened. What?! He didn't recall any of that. Hell, he had little to no memories of when he was still a little boy.He couldn't recall having any interaction with Nathaniel Hayes when he was younger. And then they had promised to meet? He made a mental note to question Scott about it. Surely if Nathaniel Hayes had met a new friend, he would have told his brother about his new friend. He was confident Nathaniel would have told Scott about the little kid he met at the shelter.Vivian smiled. "Strange huh?... Lucas liked it when you handed him books though He tried to act like he hated books, but his face always lit up whenever you gave him one," she recalled, shaking her head.Books? Hold on! He thought as realization dawned upon him. Was the child in his memory who gave him the book, Nathaniel Hayes? Though he c

Nathan's POVNathan sighed, scratching his temple and resting his elbow on the bar counter. "David, you were expecting this and had prepared for it. I'd like to know how you knew." He muttered. "What the hell is going on?" He asked.David shook his head. "Nothing. Someone intended to slander my name and character. That's all; this is common in the corporate sector." He explained.Nathan scoffed. It's only common when you allow it, he thought. No one wakes up in the middle of the night and just decided to slander someone's reputation without an ulterior motive. He sighed, "But it's not. Who is it?" Nathan asked in a serious tone, leaving no space for debate.David shook his head. "No one. Let it go. I have provided you with the signed contract. The company is now yours, and my controversy will not impact the stock or business. I apologize for the situation, but it is unavoidable." He murmured.Nathan scoffed. If David believes he traveled all the way to a club to hear a simple apology

Nathan’s POV “The reporters are all here.” Amber murmured to Nathan as he wrote another note on his tablet. He didn’t know what Amber was taking note of, but his assistant looked interested in what he was doing. He looked out the car window and saw numerous broadcasting station vans pulling up behind him and even those who had gotten there before him. They were too much. He sighed. “Is everyone here? What about Scott?” he said. Amber nodded, still typing into his iPad. “Scott is here. He has already arrived at the site with Samuel. They came together surprisingly..” he stated. Nathan nodded. Scott had left the company ahead of them to the Project site, so maybe Samuel had tagged along. His brother still had a friendly relationship with Samuel, unlike him. They were at Project 100’s building site to officially launch the project after all the hurdles that they had gone through. He knew that some of the stakeholders and board members who would show up at the site that day were not

Nathan sighed. Finally, it was time. He ignored what the announcer was saying, and before Amber could stop him, he stood up and strolled over to the podium, where someone was already waiting with a shovel and a pan of mixed concrete. The announcer handed him the podium and moved away so that Nathan was in the center; the man of the moment. Scott had told him ahead of time that he would give a speech and that he should prepare one; which he was going to do briefly. Before picking up the damn shovel, scoop a small amount of mixed cement and drop it on the ground. He could see Scott looking at him from where he stood. He cleared his throat. “Hello, everyone. It gives me great pleasure to once again invite you to this magnificent, historical occasion.” He paused to look at his ipad, “I don’t want to take much of your time because a lot has been said about this project…”. He continued.“Before I officially launch Project 100, I’m pleased to announce that Hayes Holdings has acquired Sol

The hallway was dimly lit and he was grateful that at least it wasn’t dark. When he got to the door, he stopped and looked at his watch and realized it was after midnight, and he should have been in bed by now, especially since his father was traveling into the nation that morning. He had been pulled out of bed by his cousin Reagan who wanted to know how things were going. Besides, nighttime was the only time he had to come check on them.He sighed and slid the door open, entering the dimly lit room. One thing that always told him that someone was actually in the room was the sound of the monitors. He noticed the figure standing beside the bed and approached them. He nodded at the man before shifting his gaze to the individual lying down

Nathan's POVNathan shifted his sitting position so that he was half lying down on the plush couch as he watched Elton Ross being carried out of the court and down the stairs. The reporters waiting for an interview outside the court rushed towards him and tried to get near the man despite the officers holding Elton on both sides attempting to stop them."What can you say about the final verdict?!" Someone shouted, prompting more questions from other reporters." Did you plead guilty or not guilty! Are you responsible for the death of your son in-law?!"" What do you have to say about your daughter's murder!"Nathan sighed. Shaking his head. Elton Ross had this coming for him for a very long time. He watched the man lower his head in shame. He rolled his eyes and switched to another channel, but they were still reporting the same story about billionaire CEO, Elton Ross ordering the murder of his son-in-law, Lucas, and how he had pleaded guilty to the other four counts laid against him

Elton's POVTo others, Piper was just another person who succumbed to the cruel grasp of death. The notion of being responsible for his daughter's death occurred to Elton, but he took a deep breath and buried it.'Now was not the time to deal with trivial matters, Elton'. He reminded himself mentally."Thank you, doctor. How is she?" He asked, alluding to Margaret. The doctor exhaled and shook his head. "She's not well. Her body is frail, and she is deficient in some nutrients, which we are currently injecting into her. I assume she took your daughter's death the hard way," he stated.Elton sighed. "You might say that." He mumbled. He admitted that he should have taken her to the hospital sooner, but assumed she could handle the loss and grief on her own.Margaret has experienced loss before. She lost her parents at a young age. So this shouldn't have taken a toll on her especially when she wasn't close to Piper, but perhaps, the bond between mother and daughter was too hard to ignore

Nathan's POVEveryone huddled together in the living room. Nathan was sitting on the couch, while Scott sat on the armrest, half leaning against him."How are you?" Hayden questioned him.Nathan frowned. He last saw the man months ago. If Hayden needed to notify them of something, he would always call, or Scott would go down to the station. This was the first time he had seen the detective in a long time, and the way that Hayden was acting gave him the impression that he had conclusive evidence and was only waiting for their agreement to proceed with his plans."I'm fine." He responded. "You were shot at, and Scott said you've been asleep for two days; don't you think it's best you get checked out at the hospital to be sure you're in great shape?" the police officer inquired.Nathan arched his brow; he hadn't considered it before, and now that detective Hayden had mentioned it, he wondered why he hadn't woke up in the hospital instead, especially given Scott's overprotective and cau

Nathan's POV“So, is this a visit or what?” he inquired, smiling. He didn’t want them to notice how tense he was. Too many Hayes in one house was enough for one person to notice something unusual about him and begin connecting the dots.It wouldn’t be long before they discovered that he wasn’t the real Nathaniel Hayes.Noah narrowed his eyes at him, then shifted his focus to his brother, Nolan. Nolan was the one who spoke first.“You were shot, Nathaniel. I didn’t expect you to forget that.” Nathan blinked. He remembered the experience vividly. He remembered nearly avoiding the gunshot because he had shifted slightly, but he didn’t see how this solved the question of why they were all there.August sighed and approached him, laying an arm over his shoulders. “Someone made the mistake of attempting to kill you, Nathaniel. The man stated, “We fight for what we have.”If the child was Nathaniel, and he had called the man dad, then it was clear that the man had to be Oleander Hayes, Nathaniel’s father. This was his first time hearing the man’s voice. Why did it have to be now? He wondered. Now that he felt Nathaniel’s consciousness gradually leaving him. He wasn’t sure if he was going to wake up as Nathaniel Hayes again or if he was going to return back to his body as Lucas.Nathan stepped up to the lamp, hoping it would give him an indication as to what was going on in the room. But when he looked closer, it had no switch. The lamp was turned on without a switch.Weird, he thought. How could a lamp be on without a control switch.“ Fight?” the child; Nathaniel asked. “ can’t we do something else, like run?” The question attracted Nathan’s attention.
