Chapter 88: It's Janet's turn.

Mrs. Goreng looked at Edward, tears streaming down his face, which broke her heart. She couldn’t imagine what her son had gone through during this time, what he had hidden from her, and how many times he had cried. She had believed she was a wonderful mother, but she felt terrible. She realized she knew nothing about her own son, and all the pain he had experienced, he had never shared with her.

Mrs. Goreng slowly approached where Edward was sitting, not saying anything. She simply handed her handkerchief to Edward to wipe his tears.

Edward accepted the handkerchief from his mother. He wasn’t crying anymore. Janet had been sent away, and there was no need to act anymore. Besides, if he continued to act like he was in pain now, Mrs. Goreng would be very sad, which was not something Edward wanted.

“Thank you, Mom, I’m fine,” Edward said, looking at his mother and offering a faint smile.
