Chapter 172:The Ashes

The barn shook as the explosion rocked the ground, dust and debris swirling in a chaotic frenzy. Evan blinked through the haze, adrenaline coursing through him like wildfire. He glanced at Marga, whose eyes were wide with shock, then at Rachel, who was already moving toward the nearest exit.

“Get out!” Evan shouted, urgency propelling him forward. He grabbed Marga’s arm, pulling her to her feet. “We need to move!”

They stumbled out of the barn, the acrid scent of smoke filling their lungs. The chaos outside was deafening—shouts and the crack of gunfire punctuated by the relentless thump of helicopter blades. Killian’s men were disoriented, caught off guard by the surprise attack, but they wouldn’t stay that way for long.

“Over here!” Rachel yelled, leading them toward a thick grove of trees bordering the property. Evan could see the enemy regrouping, their anger boiling over as they sought out their targets.
