Once Alex finished the job, he peeped outside the office, to make sure the coast was clear, before closing the door. He walked out of the office like nothing had happened, and he had not done anything. He picked up his phone, and called Andrea. He knew she would be excited to hear it. He did not like to see the two of them—Jayden and Andrea—that way. He was going to make sure he to get the evidence for Andrea, because it was the only way to make Jayden forgive her. They were best friends, all three of them, and seeing one fall out made it look incomplete.Jayden could be a little difficult, or a bit more of it, but they knew he had a heart of gold. It seemed so hard to let go of the past, and forget it. Did they really lose the old Jayden that was very jovial in school? Just because of a woman, he suddenly changed? If it were not for the friendship they shared, Jayden would never even treat them like that. Aside trying to reconcile with Jayden, they wanted him to be happy again.
Sonia was upset. She hadn't expected Carina to talk that way. How unfair was it? Could she not be understanding? She had understood that Carina was busy, and did not create any drama, but now, she didn't want her to associate with others. Does that not term as selfishness?"Carina, you are so selfish! All you care about is yourself, and no one else. Since you got promoted, how many times have you checked in on me? Yet, I kept using that elevator to make sure you are okay."As if that was not enough, you snub me, all because you wanted to get a project done. I was so hurt, but I understood that you were really busy. I felt lonely down there, I couldn't talk to Tory, and the rest. Now that I have someone to talk to, you are accusing me of leaving you? How ridiculous!" Sonia spat, word after word. The words were like sharp thorns piercing through her heart. They hurt so much, that she took a few steps backwards. Her eyes were already reddened, and at the verge of letting out hot stream o
Jayden had noticed the look on her face, but he had shrugged it off. She looked pale, and some strands of her hair we're sticking to her face, like glue was put on it.It made her look adorable, and Jayden could not stop stealing glances at her.He had not seen the red eyes, until she lifted up her face, and her face was in full view. He wanted to ignore. Not like he cared about what happened to her.Yet, he did not think twice before calling her back. He regretted his actions, but he could not just tell her it was nothing. He wondered why he had called her in the first place. He should have let her go. Now that he had called her, there was no turning back.He knew that after this, Mr. Interrogator would bombard him series of questions, and he was not ready to answer anything.Well, even if he did, he would shut him up. There was really nothing to explain. He was the boss, and Carina was his employee. There should be specific reason why he should ask her what the matter was.Alex, who
Carina had finally left to her office to practice for her presentation. She was still surprised that Jayden had observed her look. She pulled out her phone to check her face, but it was not too clear for her to see. She gave up trying to see how she looked. Her office was not too far from Jayden's. In fact, it was almost opposite his office, and because there was a glass window at the left side of the office, she could see anyone that passed by.Before now, the secretary's office was not situated in the last floor, but Andrea and Alex made Jayden to see reason why he should make her office to be in the last floor. She forgot to ask Alex for the location and the time of the meeting tomorrow, so as to be sure. She left, and headed to Alex's office. It was slightly open, and he didn't seem to hear her knock, so she pushed the already opened door. She did not mean to listen to his conversation. Though she didn't hear much or know who he was talking to, she had only heard the last senten
Fiona was still bothered about Carina's action. She was certain that something was wrong, and if her intuition was right, Sonia must have had knowledge about it.Since Sonia was her best friend, she was sure that Carina had told her something. She planned to meet Sonia, once she finished the work. She would have just left it and continued tomorrow, but she did not want it to be too much workload for her, the next day.She was almost done with it, when she heard a knock on the door. She saw Sonia's roaming eyes. At first, she did not know what she was looking for, but it registered in her mind that she must have been waiting for Carina, and since she did not see her, she decided to come and check her office.Just to be sure it was Carina she was looking for, she asked, "looking for Carina?" Sonia nodded like a child. She was disappointed when she did not meet Carina in her sister's office. Was Carina in her own office? Was she avoiding her?She had managed to spend the rest of the d
She did not seen who had called the first time, she only assumed it to be Sonia or Nathan. Curious to know who called, she took out the phone from her bag, and almost exclaimed aloud, as she saw the caller."I should have checked, the first time, rather than assume things!" She said to herself, as she hurriedly answered the phone. She hoped Andrea was not offended already, for not answering the call the first time. "Hello! Good evening, Andrea," she greeted, excepting to hear her yell at her over the phone."Hi, Carina. Good evening, I'm sorry if I disturb you, were you busy?" Andrea said in the most calm tone. This made Carina stare out blankly, as she did not expect Andrea to be calm. As much as Andrea was her friend, and they hung out once, she was still her boss—a senior secretary. "No, no. Not at all. I'm sorry I didn't answer the phone at first. I thought it was someone else that called, I'm sorry."Even though Andrea was not mad, she still thought it was nice to at least, sa
Sonia took her bag, and headed home. A day without flagging down a cab with Carina felt like she had missed a part of her.It was a normal thing for the both of them, everyday. They looked like best friends in highschool, who did everything together, just that they seem to be the older version of it.She took a cab home, to prepare for her date with Alex. Ben had called her up, and they talked for a bit. When she got home, she wanted to just prepare for the date, but then, she decided to call her again. Maybe, she would answer her phone, this time. She called her up, but she was on another call, so she waited for a few minutes more, before she called again. She went in to the kitchen to get herself a glass of juice. Eating was a bad idea, as she had a date in a few hours. She kept glancing at her phone, patiently waiting for the minutes to go by. She decided to give it one last try.As the phone rang, her heart was beating fast. She closed her eyes, and prayed silently that she pick
Hearing her mention 'mom' made her suddenly remember what she wanted to discuss with her. She turned her full attention to Fiona."I think she is. The last time I checked her room, she was asleep," Carina said, looking at the entrance that led to her mother's room."Has she eaten?" Fiona asked, and Carina shook her head in negativity."Oh! I'll go prepare something for her, then. She should be hungry," Fiona said, and got up, but Carina stopped her."What?" She asked, wondering why Fiona held her back."Please, sit down. I need to talk to you about something," she said, and Fiona took a seat, fully paying attention to what Carina had to tell her.Carina took a deep breath, and said, "I think mom needs someone to take care of her, and lessen the loneliness she feels every day. It's really not good for her health, because she will have every opportunity to overthink things."Fiona didn't speak. She was trying to grasp Carina's words, and process what she meant. She agreed that Carina wa
