Chapter 13

Mr. Fernando had finally agreed to call his son. He did not realize that he had held his breath, until his brother touched his shoulder. Deep down, he longed to see his son again.

Jayden was not expecting a call from anyone, let alone, his father. His heart beat skipped, he was unsure of what to do—to answer the phone, or not.

He finally answered the phone, but none of them said a word. It was as though they were in a breathing competition.

"Hello, Jayden."

It was the first time in almost half a year, he heard his father's voice again.

"Hi, dad."

They conversed for over an hour, and Jayden promised to return home.

"Goodnight."

"I told you. You just needed to talk. You both have pride!" Mr. Lukas said.

Mr. Fernando glared at him, and he chuckled, bidding him goodbye.

Jayden began to pack his things, ready to go back home the next day.

After packing, he took his snacks outside, and stood close to the shore. The moon had shone its light on the water, giving off a shade of gray, and blue.
